Kunka North Church Building Dedicated

The Obuasi Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Boakye-Agyarko, on May 15, 2022, dedicated the newly-built church building of the Kunka North Assembly in the Kunka District of the church.

He was assisted by Pastor Benjamin Sarpong Mensah, District Minister of the Kunka District of the church.

Speaking on the theme, “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:36), Pastor Solomon Odame, Obuasi Estate District Minister of the church, asserted that Christians have been made into the image and likeness of God, stressing that “it is only sin that separates man from God.”

Pastor Odame explained that if Jesus commanded the fig tree to die and it obeyed, then with faith Christians can also command miracles to happen.

Using the example of a new convert who heard a sermon of faith, he mentioned that the new convert decided to command a mountain on her family land to move away.

According to Pastor Odame, soon after the prayer, a contractor approached her with an offer to use the quarries from the mountain for road construction, thereby solving her problem.

“With God, all things are possible; with faith in God, impossibilities can turn to possibilities,” he concluded.

The Area Head, Apostle Boakye, on his part, added that faith is the weapon of shied which is used to quench the fiery darts of the devil (Ephesians 6:1)

He admonished members of the assembly to fill the auditorium with souls, and also turn the place into a centre of prayer.

Secrets For Best Teenage Parenting

Adolescence is a challenging time for young people, bringing on not only the physical changes of puberty, but emotional transformation as well and in some cases, the emergence of serious mental health conditions. For parents, it can sometimes seem like their affectionate, adoring child has become a different, distant person and that their teen friends have become more important to them than their family. But some of these changes are part of the essential process of moving toward independence and parents who are able to offer more empathy than judgment can continue to be a source of guidance for their kids, and emerge from this period with their relationship intact.

Below are some tips to help parents navigate the delicate period of their ward’s teen stage.

  1. Make it a high priority to eat meals together with your teenage child as often as you can. Meals are a great opportunity to talk about the days’ events, to unwind, reinforce and bond. They are also your best opportunity to keep in touch with your teen’s life and challenges, and to spot brewing problems.
  • Every teen parent hopes their child would do well in life. But hope alone does not shape your child’s destiny. Keep phones and laptops out of bedrooms. Using gadgets in the sitting room minimises the possibility of “sextexting” and access to pornography on the internet.
  • Let your teen invite their friends home, but keep bedrooms out of bounds for visitors. This may sound archaic, but most teens engage in their first sex at home or in a friend’s house. Also, keep hard (alcoholic) drinks out of your house. Most teens taste alcohol for the first time at home simply because it was accessible.
  • Teens crave the security of knowing that their parents understand them, appreciate them, and love them no matter what, so they want the relationship between them to be more of a friendship. But they also need to feel like they have some independence, so sometimes they may shut you out. If you can navigate your closeness in an acceptable way, he or she would be more likely to open up and share with you.
  • Does a close friendship erode your teen’s respect for you? No! Don’t you respect your friends, and treasure those who are really there for you emotionally? Likewise, if you offer your teen respect, consideration, and authenticity, that’s what you would receive in return.
  • No matter how close you want to be with your teen, you do not always have to give in to their wishes. If you are doing this often, that is a red flag. Teens look up to their parents to set limits they cannot set for themselves. Therefore, sometimes, you would need to stick by your values and say NO, whether that is to an unsupervised party or a very late bedtime. Alternatively, with your guidance, your teen could come up with a win-win solution that addresses the concerns you may have regarding their request.

Be an intentional parent. While prayer for kids is paramount, create systems that will help your child stay on the narrow and the straight. The main reason most children do not watch porn, engage in sex and drink booze in most schools is because schools have put up checks and balances. Regrettably, many parents drop the ball and ride on empty hopes that their child or children would turn out all right.

PENSA-TTU Hosts Church of Pentecost Social Media Ambassadors

The Church of Pentecost Social Media Ambassadors joined members of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) branch of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) for the climax of the Pentecost Week celebration last Sunday.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the members to the various digital platforms of The Church of Pentecost and to encourage them to support the Church’s social media drive.

The visit is part of a social media drive being undertaken by the Media Ministry of The Church of Pentecost to sensitise church members, particularly the youth, on the need to saturate social media with godly content in order to possess the space for Christ.

As part of the service, Elder Joseph Bill Danquah (President of the COP Social Media Ambassadors), in a brief remark, emphasised the need for Christians to see Social Media space as a major evangelistic tool through which more souls could be won for Christ.

He, therefore, called on members, particularly the youth, to come on board as Social Media Ambassadors so as to boost the Church’s presence and impact on social media.

As ambassadors, he advised them not to subscribe to the digital platforms alone but also promote them by recommending them to their friends and relatives.

After the remarks, Elder Prince Asare of the Media Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, gave the congregants a simple step-by-step process for accessing the digital media platforms of the Church – Facebook (@thecophq), Twitter (@thecophq), Instagram (@thecophqofficial), Tiktok (@thecophq), Podcast (The Church of Pentecost Headquarters), LinkedIn (The Church of Pentecost), Amazon (The Church of Pentecost), and YouTube (The Church of Pentecost)

According to him, the Church has generated a unique web link (linktr.ee/thecophq) to make it simpler for anyone to access any of the digital platforms of the Church.

Elder Asare also urged them not to be passive subscribers of the platforms but to engage with the content posted and share it with others.

Present at the service were Pastor Emmanuel Opoku Mensah (Travelling Secretary, Takoradi Sector), and his wife, Heartwill, Elder Famous Sackey (President, PENSA-TTU) and other executives of PENSA-TTU.

Let Us Go Back To The Day of Pentecost – Apostle Kumi-Larbi To Christians

Today, most of The Church of Pentecost branches all over the world are celebrating Pentecost. The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has charged Christians to return to the ‘Day of Pentecost’ which is accompanied by the manifestation and power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.

According to the General Secretary of the Church, Pentecost is the outpouring of the Holy Ghost with evidence in speaking in tongues, bearing fruit of the Spirit and operating with the gifts of the Spirit.

Celebrating the day, at the forecourt of the Roman Ridge Central/ English Auditorium of The Church, Apostle Kumi-Larbi spoke on the topic, “Experiencing Pentecost: Outpouring of The Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:1-4; 19:1-7). He emphasized that the Pentecostal experience is receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (or the baptism of the Spirit), speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

He said that Pentecost Sunday, is a commemoration and celebration of the receiving of the Holy Spirit by the early church.

“John the Baptist, prophesied of the first Pentecost when he said Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire,” he said.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi quoting from John 14:26, revealed that Jesus confirmed this prophecy of the Holy Spirit to the disciples. He indicated that Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Father’s gift of the Holy Spirit, from whom they receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:3-8).

“On the Day of Pentecost, just as promised, the sound of a violent wind filled the house and tongues of fire came to rest on each of them and all were filled with the Holy Spirit,” Apostle Kumi-Larbi stated.

The General Secretary further explained that Pentecost is not just a date that it commemorated, nor a historical event that lies in the past. According to him, Pentecost is happening right now in the lives of believers, adding that: “the promise that Jesus made to the disciples is the same promise he gives each one of us today. This is an event that has never stopped happening.”

Without the Holy Spirit, he, believed we will be trying to do things in our own strength, with our own ideas; however, with the Holy Spirit, we tap directly into the power of God, and that is how believers receive the boldness to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.

He highlighted on the fact that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is talked about in at least two ways in Scripture.

The first one, he said, refers to the pouring of the Holy Spirit to indwell people, as prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost after Jesus’ ascension. The other way, he mentioned is the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit.

“God said to Israel, I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants,” he stated was predicted by Joel, and in Isaiah 44:3.

The General Secretary of the Church pointed out that in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was a rare gift that was only given to a few people, usually for specific assignments. Such individuals were Saul (1 Samuel 10:10), Othniel (Judges 3:10), Gideon (Judges 6:34), and Samson (Judges 13:25;14:6).

“At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all believers in Christ, and He came to stay. This marked a major change in the Holy Spirit’s work,” he stressed.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi further observed that there are five instances of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which are on the day of Pentecost: to Jews and proselytes in Jerusalem (Acts 2:1-4); with the Samaritan believers (Acts 8:14-17); the Apostle Paul after he was saved (Acts 9:17-18); in the house of Cornelius and the believing gentiles (Acts 10:44-47; 11:15-17); with the believers in Ephesus (Acts 19:1, 2, 6); and with present believers (Acts 2:39).

He, then led the congregation in an intensive Holy Spirit prayers and impartation, which manifested in the speaking of tongues.

Present were Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi, wife of General Secretary of the Church and Pastor Clement Akyim-Gyimah, District Minister of Roman Ridge District.

‘Pentecost Week,’ was a week dedicated by The Church of Pentecost, worldwide, to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It began on Monday, May 30, 2022 and ended today Sunday, June 5, 2022.

3rd Royals’ Conference Ends In Glamour

The spectacular gathering of over 1,500 royals, made up of Paramount Chiefs, Paramount Queen mothers, Divisional Chiefs, and other chiefs from Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso, has come to a close in glamour.

The three-day event, which began on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, under the theme: “Equipping Royals As Gatekeepers To Possess The Nations” (1 Samuel 18:24-28; Isaiah 21:11; Matthew 13:25-30; Ephesians 5:27), ended on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Closing the event, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, thanked the various groups and individuals who ensured the success of the historic event, especially the National Executive Committee of the Chieftaincy Ministry and the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM).

“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do these (John 13:17),” the Chairman stated, urging the participants to practice all that they have learnt at the conference.

The Chairman encouraged the royals to focus on their callings by applying the wisdom of God and the Kingdom principles in their spheres. This, he believes, would propel the achievement of the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda in the chieftaincy institution.

The commencement of the conference had the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, charging the chiefs to live in integrity as gatekeepers of the society. Apostle Lt. Col. Benjamin Kumi-Woode, Acting Director, Air Force Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, encouraged the royals to appreciate the role of the church in the chieftaincy institution. Rt. Rev Prof. Osei Safo-Kantanka (Former Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana) also admonished traditional leaders to build a strong relationship among themselves.

Other speakers were Elder Dr Odeneho Affram Brempong III, National Executive Committee Secretary of the Chieftaincy Ministry and King of British Gyaman, and Mr. Ebenezer Acheampong (Procurement Consultant).

Notably among the speakers on the second day were Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah (immediate past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost), Mr. James Ebenezer Kobina Dadson (Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission), a National Security Representative, Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong (Former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana), Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe (International Missions Director of The Church of Pentecost), as well as Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (National Co-ordinator of the Chieftaincy Ministry and Director of Pentecost Men’s Ministry).

Nana Dr Susubribi Krobea Asante, Omanhene of Asante Asokore Traditional Area and an accomplished legal luminary, also addressed the royals on Day Three on the topic: “Chieftaincy and Justice Delivery in Traditional Jurisprudence in Ghana.”

Clad in full traditional regalia, the traditional leaders danced and sang to the glorification of God, displaying rich Ghanaian and African culture in the presence of God. The Ghanaian royals were drawn from the 16 regions of the country, namely Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Savannah, Bono East, Bono, Ahafo, North East, Oti, Volta, Ashanti, Eastern, Western North, Western, Central, and Greater Accra regions.

The Royals Conference, an initiative of The Church of Pentecost, is held every three years. The first and second editions were held in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

Seek Divine Wisdom To Rule Your People – Apostle Nyamekye Tells Chiefs

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has admonished chiefs and queens to seek divine wisdom to help them provide quality leadership that will inure to the benefit of their people.

Apostle Nyamekye said this on Friday, June 3, 2022, when addressing over 1,500 chiefs, queens, and other royals from Ghana, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso at the closing ceremony of the 3rd Royals’ Conference which took place at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh.

The triennial conference which was organised by the Chieftaincy Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in collaboration with the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) was on the theme: “Equipping Royals As Gatekeepers To Possess The Nations.”

Speaking on the topic, “Give Me Wisdom” with James 3:13-18 as his main text, Apostle Nyamekye said that wisdom is the greatest need of humans apart from man’s need of God and His word.

He noted that Ghana is flooded with chieftaincy disputes because the wisdom that some royals are using to rule is not coming from above but earthly.

He stated: “We need wisdom from above to manage our personal lives and the people we rule.”

Explaining why human beings need wisdom, the Chairman pointed out that life is full of challenges, and as a result, leaders are daily confronted with decision-making, hence they need to take good decisions in order to move their communities forward.

“The need for wisdom becomes critical when you lead people. This is because the leader’s decision has a ripple effect on the whole constituents he leads.

“We have been elevated as chiefs and queens to solve difficult problems, answer tough questions, and meet uncommon needs,” he stated.

Quoting from 1 Samuel 8:19-20, he mentioned that kings or leaders were chosen to lead the people of Israel to fight their battles.

He therefore charged royals to deal with the battles and struggles of their subjects to bring relief to the people.

According to him, leadership is responsibility, work, but not showmanship, saying, “Leadership is not power, leadership is not wealth, leadership is not fame; it is not to make your enemies fear you and your friends admire you.

“Leadership is responsibility. Leadership is not time to payback your enemies. You have to use the authority that you have been given to build up your people and communities not to destroy them,” he added.

Holy Spirit: The Shy Member Of The Trinity

The Holy Spirit is the shy member of the Trinity. His ministry is to point away from himself to the wonder of God the Son and God the Father. Being filled with the Spirit means being filled with love for Christ. When Jesus promised the Spirit (in John 16:14), he said, “He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” The Spirit is shy; he is self-effacing. When we look toward him, he steps back and pushes forward Jesus Christ.

Therefore, in seeking to be filled and empowered by the Spirit, we must pursue him indirectly. we must look to the wonder of Christ. If we look away from Jesus and seek the Spirit and his power directly, we will end up in the mire of our own subjective emotions. The Spirit does not reveal himself. The Spirit reveals Christ. The fullness of the Spirit is the fullness that he gives as we gaze on Christ. The power of the Spirit is the power we feel in the presence of Christ. The joy of the Spirit is the joy we feel from the promises of Christ. Many of us know what it is to crouch on the floor and cry out to the Holy Spirit for joy and power, and experience nothing; but the next day devote ourselves to earnest meditation on the glory of Jesus Christ and be filled with the Spirit.

Therefore, when the time came for the eternal Son of God to be sent by his Father into the world, the work of the Holy Spirit was a quiet, unobtrusive work in the service of the Father and the Son. Through him the Father caused the Son to be conceived in Mary the virgin. So from the very beginning of Christ’s incarnation the Holy Spirit was quietly doing what needed to be done to put forward Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Saviour of man.

The Quiet Work of the Spirit in the Incarnation

Our first encounter with the Holy Spirit is when He convicts us of our sin, shows us that none of us can live up to the righteousness of Jesus, and reveals to us the judgment that is coming to those who die without a Saviour (John 16:8-11). As we repent, confess our sins and receive the gift of Salvation the Holy Spirit regenerates our dead inner human spirit which now becomes sensitive to the spiritual things of God (John 3:1-16; Acts 2:38).

There is a second work of the Holy Spirit when He baptizes a believer (Acts 2:1-4).  It’s available to all (Acts 2:39) and a gift of empowerment, helping the believer to live a holy life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Helper, we become more like Jesus and are directed to do the Father’s will. Furthermore, the gift is primarily for the empowerment to witness to others (Acts 1:8).

We are encouraged to ask the Holy Spirit to fill us up on a regular basis. When you feel depleted or need strength, ask Him to replenish you (Ephesians 5:18).

It’s not enough to exist with the belief that The Father and the Son are first and the Holy Spirit is secondary. They are equal and work in harmony with each other. The uniqueness of the Holy Spirit is His presence within us. Jesus said before he ascended to heaven that the Holy Spirit would come and dwell within us as a believer. With that, He empowers us to live victoriously for the cause of Christ and glory of the Father.

Enter Into Strategic Partnership With The Church – Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong To Royals

The Chief Executive Officer of Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has charged kings, queens and royals in Ghana to enter into a strategic partnership with the church to help them undertake socio-economic development in their communities.

“Until we are able to get strong institutions, the church and traditional leaders must come together and give hope to the people,” Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong said.

He said this yesterday at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) during the 3rd Royals’ Conference organised by the Chieftaincy Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in collaboration with the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM). It was attended by over 1,500 royals from Ghana, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso.

Speaking on the topic, “The Role of Traditional Leaders in Socio-Economic Development of Ghana,” Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong, who is also a minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, expressed grave concern that the state fails to allocate funds to traditional leaders to pursue socio-economic development in their communities, apart from the royalties paid to them.

“Meanwhile, when you go into the communities, there are high expectations on chiefs to do socio-economic development,” he bemoaned.

He urged royals in Ghana to build stronger relationships with the Church to help them execute their developmental agenda, while highlighting the various interventions that churches in Ghana make to the socio-economic development of the country.

Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong explained that before the arrival of the colonial masters, traditional leaders pursued resource mobilisation for the socio-economic development of their communities through taxation, fines from dispute settlements, and sales of agricultural and natural resources like gold, rubber, salt among others.

He, however, noted that under the British colonial administration in the 1940’s, the British instituted the Indirect Rule which made chiefs ‘middlemen’ between the colonial masters and their subjects.

“Some prominent chiefs received scholarships and other financial supports for their children and members of their communities to study in prestigious institutions abroad,” he asserted.

The post-independence constitutions of Ghana, according to the Presbyterian minister, made some nationalists like the former President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, attempt to abolish the colonial rule and the chieftaincy institution at the same time for working together.

“Most of them saw the chieftaincy institution as the same as the colonial powers. Subsequent legislations through the first republic to this day have ensured that there is a gap between traditional leaders and political power in our governance system, especially access to resources for socio-economic development,” he noted.

Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong mentioned that the Chieftaincy Act (Act 759) considers the functions of chiefs mainly in matters of customary law and dispute settlements of succession lines to traditional stools, rather than managing the resources of their lands.

The former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana iterated that in the olden days, traditional leaders fought, conquered, and took lands and kingdoms from others. However, in these contemporary times, such illegalities cannot be done since they could be jailed.

He called on chiefs to rather fight against hunger, illiteracy, diseases, tensions, poverty, poor health, injustice, unemployment, teenage pregnancies, and seek for the prosperity for their people and communities instead of fighting among themselves.

Let Your Royalty Reflect God’s Kingdom Values And Principles – Apostle Anane Denteh Charges Chiefs

Chiefs and queens have been charged to rule with the fear of God, by relying on His divine providence so that there will be peace, security and development in the land.

The National Co-ordinator of the Chieftaincy Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, gave the admonition at the 3rd Royals’ Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

This year’s conference was on the theme, “Equipping Royals As Gatekeepers To Possess The Nations” (1 Samuel 18:24-28; Isaiah 21:11; Matthew 13:25-30; Ephesians 5:27). The conference, which took place from 31st May to 3rd June 2022, was attended by over 1,500 chiefs, queens, and other royals from Ghana, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso.

Speaking on the topic, “The King/Queen As A Priest,” with the main scripture reading from Proverbs 16:10-15, Apostle Anane Denteh, who doubles as the Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and a member of the Executive Council of the church, indicated that by virtue of the fact that believers are the children of God, they are by default royals.

According to him, Jesus Christ was born a king (Matthew 2:2) as he came into the world preaching about the Kingdom of God. He added that Jesus died as a king (Matthew 27:37). He stated that though the leaders of Israel made frantic efforts to change the narratives, they could not succeed since Pilate intimated that “what was written was written.”

“As long as you follow Jesus Christ consistently, no one can change your kingship. As long as your kingship and kingdom are vested in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are secured because Jesus is the absolute priest and king. He is the Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:5-7; 7:1),” he declared.

Reading from 1 Peter 2:9, the PEMEM Director held that Christ’s kingship has been inputted in all those who believe in him, including traditional rulers, hence they have become kings and priests to their subjects.

“Our kingship was ordained and established by God. Our royalty was activated when we accepted Christ. Our royalty must, therefore, reflect the values and principles of God’s kingdom,” he stressed.

Apostle Anane Denteh explained that since the Lord has made Christians a royal priesthood, it should have a bearing on the way they should live and do things.

“Working as a priest means that you have to stand ready for God. Once priesthood is associated with your kingdom, you have to stand right before God,” he said, adding, “Every king/queen who acts as a priest must be able to protect and care for his/her people like a shepherd.”
