Tema Area Holds 3-Day Pre-Easter Retreat For Ministers And Wives

In a serene and spiritually charged atmosphere, the Tema Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the inspired leadership of Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani, held a transformative three-day Pre-Easter Residential Retreat for all ministers and their spouses within the Area.

The retreat, held from Wednesday, April 9 to Friday, April 11, 2025, took place at the Jesus Power Retreat Centre.

With the compelling theme, “He is not here, He is Risen” (Luke 24:6), the retreat called attendees to reflect, revive, and realign their ministry with the living Christ. The event served as a spiritual recharge, offering an opportunity for ministers to deepen their communion with God through prayer, fellowship, and the undiluted Word of God.

Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani, who also serves as an Executive Council Member of the Church, delivered profound teachings on the central theme, unpacking the theological and practical significance of the Resurrection. His powerful message encouraged ministers to live and serve in the victorious reality of the empty tomb.

In his final sermon, “Go to the Courts,” Apostle Djani urged ministers to extend the influence of the Kingdom beyond church walls into governance, justice systems, and public institutions.

Other seasoned ministers enriched the retreat with impactful messages:

Pastor Kwaku Ofori of Redemption Valley District spoke on “The Benefits of the Resurrection,” illuminating the spiritual, emotional, and eternal blessings derived from Christ’s triumph over death.

Pastor Seth Attah Baffour of Community Four District reignited the sacredness of divine calling in his sermon, “The Call of God,” challenging ministers to remain steadfast in their vocation.

Pastor Samuel Koomson of PIWC- Tema shared practical insights on “Opportunities,” urging attendees to discern and seize divine opportunities, even amidst challenges, for the Kingdom advancement.

The retreat featured soul-lifting worship sessions, fervent intercessory prayers, and deep fellowship. Pastoralia sessions provided a platform for open discussions on ministry challenges, marriage, and mental well-being.

The serene and prayerful environment of the Jesus Power Retreat Centre amplified the impact of the programme, allowing participants to disconnect from daily demands and focus on their spiritual rejuvenation.

The retreat saw wholehearted participation, including Mrs. Mary Atsupe Djani, the Area Head’s wife. It was a time of divine visitation, where marriages were fortified, hearts were renewed, and ministers were reoriented toward their mission.

As the retreat concluded, the prevailing proclamation echoed by all was: “He is not here; He is Risen.” Strengthened and inspired, the ministers of Tema Area committed to advancing the gospel with fresh zeal — in pulpits, in courts, in communities, and every sphere of influence.

Ministry Requires Patience – Apostle Tawiah Observes

The Tamale Area Head of The Church of Pentecost and Coordinator of the Northern Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) of the church, Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah, has underscored the importance of patience in Christian ministry.

He shared this message during a four-day retreat for ministers and their wives at the PIWC Auditorium in Tamale, ahead of the 2025 Easter Convention.

Reflecting on the realities and challenges of ministry, Apostle Tawiah highlighted that offenses, provocations, suffering, and disappointing results are common experiences in the life of a minister.

‘Sometimes you do your best, yet there is nothing to show for it,’ he noted.

He added that such situations could become even more burdensome when leaders demand accountability from ministers who feel they have no tangible results to present.

Apostle Tawiah cautioned that impatience in such moments could lead ministers to frustration, resignation, or even conflict.

Drawing inspiration from Romans 12:12, he encouraged the ministers to remain patient in affliction, faithful in prayer, and joyful in hope.

‘Learn to wait,’ he advised. ‘Do not grumble or complain. Do not feel ashamed or assume that God, the Church, or anyone is against you. No one can be against you; you belong to the Sovereign Lord.’

He further urged the ministers to trust God’s promises, remain prayerful, and continue serving faithfully.

‘Keep working hard. Be assured by His word that joy comes in the morning. The Lord will not forget your labour of love,’ he concluded.

The retreat took place from April 8-11, 2025.

Elder Benedict Peterson and his family from the Downtown-Ofaakor Area of The Church of Pentecost have generously constructed and donated a church building, valued at GHS 410,000.00, to The Church of Pentecost.

The edifice, named Mount Zion Chapel, is located at Breman Bedum in the Breman Bisease District of the Central Region. The facility includes two children’s auditoriums, toilet facilities, and a water reservoir, providing a comprehensive worship environment for the congregation.

Pastor Adjei Nimako Darkwa (Agona Swedru Area Head) delivered the sermon titled, ‘Serve God with Your Possessions,’ drawing inspiration from 1 Chronicles 29. He noted that true devotion to God transcends financial giving and includes offering one’s skills, time, and resources.

He stated, ‘When we acknowledge that all we have is from the Lord, giving back to Him becomes an act of gratitude rather than a burden.’

Speaking to Pent News, Elder Peterson disclosed that although he may not possess vast wealth, he felt a strong urge to build the temple for the glory of God.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Apostle William Ezhorhoho (Downtown-Ofaakor Area Head), traditional leaders, and the pastorate in the Agona Swedru Area, among others.

There Are No Strong Vessels in Marriage web

There Are No Strong Vessels in Marriage — Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe Avers

Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, Head of Ministerial Formation and Training at Pentecost University (PU), has challenged conventional mindsets on authority and strength in marital homes.

Speaking on the theme, “No Strong Vessel at Home” at a marriage ceremony at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono, Apostle Tsekpoe revealed deep biblical insights into God’s original blueprint for marriage, emphasising that the institution of marriage was never designed for dominance or superiority, but for unity, mutual submission, mutual support and purpose.

Quoting Genesis 2:18–22, Apostle Tsekpoe walked the congregation through the divine origin of marriage — a union birthed not from convenience, but from God’s own wisdom and love. “It was not good for man to be alone,” the Apostle reiterated, “so God fashioned a helper suitable for him — not inferior, not subordinate, not a destroyer but complementary helper.”

He further explained that in 1 Peter 3:7, where the Bible refers to the woman as the “weaker vessel,” it does not suggest the man is a “strong vessel.” Rather, both husband and wife are vessels — weak and weaker — needing each other to become one complete, strong and functioning whole. “If the woman is the weaker vessel, then by implication, the man is the weak vessel. God never intended for a strong vessel to dominate in the home,” he emphasised.

Apostle Tsekpoe illuminated the symbolic mystery of the rib — that God created the woman out of one rib from man. He noted, “The missing rib signifies the incompleteness of man without his wife. When you marry the right woman — the one ordained by God — she becomes the divine replacement of your lost rib.”

He went on to underscore the woman’s God-given role as a helper (Genesis 2:20), stating, “If your wife cannot detect your weakness and help you fix it, then she may not be the one sent by God. A helper is not just present — she is purposeful.”

In what many called a deeply reflective moment, the Apostle charged husbands to never get disappointed in their wives simply because they see flaws. “You were warned already — she’s the weaker vessel. Your role is to support, nurture, encourage, improve and advance her,” he said. He challenged wives too, noting that if the challenges in a man’s life multiply after marriage, the helper may have failed in her assignment.

Tying his message with practical wisdom, Apostle Tsekpoe declared that any marriage that ends in divorce is not a failure of one partner, but of both. “Whether Christian or not, if you understand marriage, you should not fail at it. Marriage is partnership — two people agreeing to make it work.” That is why there is no place for divorce in the Bible.

He likened a thriving marriage to fertile ground where even weeds may grow. “But when weeds appear — challenges and misunderstandings — don’t get angry at the crop. Instead, work together to uproot the weed.”

Concluding with a powerful call to action, Apostle Tsekpoe urged couples to treat one another with dignity, and to live their marriage in such a way that God will look upon it and say, ‘This union brought Me glory.’

He ended by declaring, “When the weak vessel is united with the weaker vessel, through divine alignment, they become a strong and mighty vessel — an enviable union to the glory of God.” This is the mystery of marriage.

May God grant us divine insight to marry, and marry well.
