Attitude Is Everything! – Apostle Eric Nyamekye

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised ministers and wives of the Church to make conscious effort to develop a positive attitude as it has a great bearing on the impact of their ministry.

“Your attitude would either draw people closer or repel them. It would cause people to either love you or hate you. So, as a minister of the Gospel, your attitude is everything,” he said.

Apostle Nyamekye gave this admonition when he met with ministers and wives of the Nsawam Area today at the Palm Assembly church auditorium at Adoagyiri as part of the Area’s ongoing Ministers and Officers’ Retreat (Apostolisation).

Speaking on the topic: “Repositioning Your Ministry,” the newly-elected President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), defined attitude as an individual’s (or a leader’s) response to happenings around them.

“Attitude is your manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., towards a person or thing. It could be positive or negative. A negative attitude is threatening while a positive attitude is mostly relaxed,” he explained.

The Chairman further explained that underlining a good or positive attitude is the principle of respect for all, seeing value in everyone, stressing that: “Greater love for others drives positive attitude.”

Apostle Nyamekye said that, since the work of ministry is all about working with people, a positive attitude is needed by the minister to enable him relate well with officers and members of the Church and effectively minister to them.

The Chairman posited that a minister who lacks a good attitude would struggle to lead and impact his members because a negative attitude tests the patience and tolerance of many.

He, therefore, emphasised that although it takes much effort and sacrifice to develop a positive attitude, it is a quality every minister should strive to possess in order to make a meaningful impact in the lives of his members and have a fruitful ministry.

In addition to having a positive attitude, the GPCC President also advised the ministers to acquire skills and a good character so as to be effective leaders and shepherds of God’s people.

Making reference to Psalm 78:71-72 to buttress his assertion, Apostle Nyamekye said that David is considered a great king because he possessed skills and had an integrious heart.

Expedite Action On Domestic Debt Exchange Programme – GPCC To Government

Expedite Action On Domestic Debt Exchange Programme – GPCC To Government

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has urged the Government of Ghana (GoG) to expedite action on the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) to help resolve the economic challenges facing the country.

The Council, in a communique issued on February 3, 2023 following its recently-held national conferences at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, expressed concern about the dire economic challenges confronting the nation which has resulted in very high levels of inflation and currency depreciation.

“This is adversely impacting the poor the most, wiping incomes and wealth and pushing most Ghanaians into extreme poverty and hardship without any clear social safety nets,” it bemoaned.

The Council, among other requests, has called on the government to continue with the present productive engagements for a more amicable arrangement with respect to the DDEP to help solve the prevailing challenges.

“The GPCC acknowledges that globally economies are in turmoil and facing various degrees of socio-economic challenges. The Council particularly recognises and appreciates the efforts of the Government to contain the situation In Ghana. These recognisable efforts include the recent staff level agreement (SLA) reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December 2022.

“We [therefore] urge the Government to do everything possible to ensure the IMF programme goes to the Board to help rescue the situation and reset the economy,” the communique said.

The communique further states that: “Whatever form the DDEP takes, Government should ensure that the financial sector, which is a key pillar of growth for the economy, is not destroyed in the process of the debt exchange programme.”

The Council has also appealed to the GoG to, as a matter of urgency, downsize government machinery and cut down on expenditure in order to build confidence among the citizenry about its commitment in solving the economic problems.

“From the Council’s perspective, it is important that the Government demonstrates a strong sense of burden-sharing to encourage key bond holders to fully accept the DDEP voluntarily,” it read.

The Council has also urged the Government to work with the relevant law enforcement agencies to retrieve all COVID-19 funds that the Auditor General’s 2021 Report cited as being unaccounted for or misapplied and also collaborate with other stakeholders and support calls to organise a non- partisan national consultative forum to dispassionately discuss and gather ideas for addressing the prevailing socio-economic and environmental challenges.

On its part, the Council reaffirmed its willingness to support the process in remedying the said challenges by availing its platforms to support consultative initiatives aimed at addressing the prevailing national problems to engender consensus building, unity and peace.

Among other commitments, the Council would increase admonition to Reverend Ministers of the Gospel to live modestly and above reproach.

“We would also intensify teachings to church members, especially those in public service, to show the way by imbibing the principles of integrity in the fight against corruption and being mindful of the fact that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people,” it further stated.

The communique was presented to the Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, last Monday by a delegation led by the President of the Council, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

Be Loyal To The Church of Pentecost – Apostle Nyamekye To The Clergy

Be Loyal To The Church of Pentecost – Apostle Nyamekye To Clergy

“The Church of Pentecost (CoP) should be our greatest treasure in life as ministers of this great Church. We need to love her dearly and cherish her in our hearts. This is why everyone in the Church should be respected and deeply loved.”

These were the words of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, to ministers of the church, during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference on Friday, January 28, 2023, held at Pentecost Convention Centre, (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Delivering a sermon on the topic, “Loyalty,” Apostle Nyamekye said that the people purchased by the blood of Christ are God’s possession.

“If these people are God’s special possession, then they should be our greatest treasure. For it is in their talents, gifts, and treasury that we would find the strength of the Lord,” he said.

Reading from 1 Chronicles 11:9, Apostle Nyamekye iterated that David became powerful because the Lord was with him. He, however, said that David did not succeed alone but had support from his team.

“Great leaders do not succeed alone, behind them is a great team that support them. People talk of the leader because he is the face of the institution but behind a good leader is a team supporting his mandate,” he stated.

He disclosed that one way of showing loyalty to the church is to have a strong love for the church. He admonished the clergy to keep faith in the church that brought them into full-time ministry.

Explaining the pattern of the local church in the New Testament, he pointed out that Apostle Paul and Barnabas in Acts 14:21 won many people who became disciples of Christ. In the same vein, he said, in establishing the local church, elders are appointed to take care of the church.

“The elders are appointed as leaders of the local church; we need to respect and close the gap between the clergy and the officers,” he said.

The Chairman called on ministers to avoid despising members who do not have certain skills or talents. This, he noted, is because not all can preach, rather some can teach, serve, and give to help make the church great.

“The common good of The Church of Pentecost is that everyone is useful to the church of God. All of us together, that is the officers and pastors are co-workers in the Lord’s vineyard. One thing we need to fulfill this is to be loyal to the trust and task,” he noted.

He further admonished members of the church not to draw away from the Church when the battle become tough: stating, “Even when the leaders make mistakes, it is imperative for members and ministers to cover their shamefulness for the sake of the church.”

“Don’t you know that we represent the church and when you destroy us, you destroy the church?” he quizzed, adding, “Anyone who destroys the church of God will face the full wrath of God.”

He advised the leaders to uphold the policies of the church which, according to him, are the ligaments that hold the church firmly to stand. He said that if a minister drifts away from the policies of the church, he is breaking the ligaments of the church.

He explained that loyalty to the church means commitment, faithfulness, sacrifice, love going the extra mile, intercessory prayers, effective leadership, and defense.

“Loyalty is to make the body of The Church of Pentecost better. Therefore, we need to be careful of our attitude to the body of the church, so we do not send the members that make up the body away. Cherish it,” Apostle Nyamekye concluded.

Let’s Strengthen The Local Church for Greater Impact - Apostle Nyamekye To Church Leaders

Let’s Strengthen The Local Church For Greater Impact – Apostle Nyamekye To Church Leaders

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that the 2023 theme was intentionally chosen to strengthen the local church as the centre for mobilising and equipping church members for maximum impact in the nations.

The Chairman said this yesterday when he threw more light on this year’s theme: “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations,” during the opening ceremony of the ongoing Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

Apostle Nyamekye explained that the effort to reposition local church for more impact despite the many gains made by The Church of Pentecost over the years is an indication of the Church’s thirst and hunger for excellence.

“So, let us put behind us the glories of the yesteryear and strife to attain the goal for which Christ has called us,” he stated.

The Chairman, therefore, advised the ministers to embrace the theme with passion and zeal to achieve the intended objective.

“As ministers of a church that seeks to reposition itself, we need to first reposition ourselves to be able to effectively reposition the local church. This can only be a reality when we are well-grounded and well-positioned in the very things we want our members to know and do,” he said.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye also revealed that to achieve the desired set goals under the 2023 theme, a pattern of teaching would be adopted, guided by these selected topics: “The Local Church as a Family, The Local Church Upholding the Value of Godliness, Sacrificial Giving and Tithing, the Local Church in Evangelism and Visitation in the Local Church.”

The other topics are: “Raising Family Altars to Strengthen the Local Church: Lessons from the Puritans, and Encouraging Personal Devotions and Small Group Prayer Meetings to Strengthen the Local Church.”

In addition to the selected topics, the Chairman stated that the first three months of the Bible Study sessions have been dedicated to studying the rules of conduct and core values of the Church, as a means of strengthening the local church and deepening The CoP brand.

Concluding his presentation, Apostle Nyame stated that the Church leadership intends to use the 2023 theme to make the local assemblies ready to combat every thought, argument and pretension that set itself up against the knowledge of God and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2023 Global Ministers & Wives’ Conference Begins At PCC

2023 Global Ministers & Wives’ Conference Begins At PCC

The 2023 Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference of The Church of Pentecost began on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

The annual fasting, prayers, and teachings event, being attended by about 4,000 ministers and their wives in Ghana, will be joined by other ministers of the church across the globe via zoom at designated places.

This year’s conference is under the theme, “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations” – Colossians 2:6-7; 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20.

Officially opening the conference on Wednesday morning, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost worldwide, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, was hopeful that the Lord would make His ways known to the participants, as they diligently seek Him with all their hearts.

“May God’s unerring Spirit lead this conference, and may the church be fired with holy zeal,” the Chairman said.

Touching on the theme for the year, he said it represents an intentional effort to strengthen the local church, as the centre for mobilising the grassroots and equipping them for the ‘possessing the nations’ agenda.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, “repositioning suggests that we have not yet arrived. Let us put behind us the glories of yesteryear and strife to attain the goal for which Christ has called us. We, therefore, need a constant, consistent, critical examination and retooling of the church for maximum impact in the nations.”

He added: “As ministers of a church that seeks to reposition itself, we need to first reposition ourselves to be able to effectively reposition the local church.”

This, he said, can only be a reality when ministers of the church are well-grounded and well-positioned in the very things they want their members to know and do.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye challenged the participants to open up to the Lord and receive the various ministrations and find the best ways to pass them on to the local church to achieve the intended effect.

This year’s conference will end on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

New PCC Residential Block Named After Apostle D.Y.A. Owusu

The newly-built four-storey residential block of the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, has been named after the late Apostle David Yaw Anti Owusu, widely known as “Apostle DYA Owusu.”

The facility was formally commissioned yesterday at a short ceremony officiated by the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, with assistance from the General Secretary, Apostle A.N.Y. Kumi-Larbi, the International Missions Director, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, and other Executive Council members of the Church.

The historic event was also witnessed by the family members of the late minister.

Explaining the rationale for the gesture, Apostle Nyamekye said the late Apostle Owusu was one of the illustrious servants of The Church of Pentecost who served God and the Church well.

He further touted some of the positions the late minister held in the Church, paramount amongst them were his (Apostle Owusu) relatively short stint as an Acting Chairman of the Church from 1987 to 1988 following the unfortunate passing of the then Chairman, Apostle Fred Safo, and also as an Executive Council Member of the Church for 19 years (1969-1988).

The gesture, according to Apostle Nyamekye, was, therefore, aimed at honouring the memory of a gallant soldier of the Cross.

The Chairman advised the ministers present to also serve the Lord and the Church faithfully so that posterity would celebrate their good works.

The leader of the Owusu family, in response, expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of the Church for the great honour done them. The family donated a front desk to the management of PCC to aid operations in the facility.

The newly-commissioned David Yaw Anti Owusu block has 153 rooms and an elevator to ensure easy movement inside the building.

The new block adds to six other residential buildings at the centre which have been named after other illustrious servants of the Church, namely, Apostle Abraham Tetteh Nartey, Apostle Stephen Henry Ankamah, Apostle James Kwaku Gyimah, Apostle George Alphonso Wood, Apostle Patrick Asiamah, Apostle Samuel Richard Asomaning and Elder John Bart Plange.

Present at the event were some active and retired ministers of the Church. Among them were Pastor Prince Odoom (PCC Manager) and Pastor James Agyin (Projects Development and Estate Manager, CoP – Headquarters), who supervised the execution of the building project.

Apostle D.Y.A. Owusu was called into the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1950 and was stationed at Sunyani a year later. He subsequently served at Suhum, Sekondi-Takoradi, Ho, Akim Oda and Cape Coast, where he retired from active ministry in 1988.

Apostle Owusu served in various capacities in ministry as afore-indicated and also served as Chairman of the Pensions Board and General Leader for the Women’s Movement (now Women’s Ministry) from 1955 to 1988 and 1967 to 1976, respectively.

He passed on to glory on July 21, 2008 at age 86, after a protracted illness.

Develop Attitude Of Gratitude – Apostle Nyamekye Advises

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on the clergy, and Christians in general to develop an attitude of gratitude.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, though the year 2022 was a tough one with several challenges, God has kept them through to another fresh year.

Speaking at the opening of the Heads’ Meeting ahead of the Global Ministers and Wives Conference of The Church of Pentecost at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh on Monday, 23 January 2023, Apostle Nyamekye revealed that Christians have a divine responsibility to give thanks always to God.

“As children of God, there is always the righteous requirement to give thanks to God because that is the will of God concerning us,” he said.

Quoting from Colossians 2:6-7; Genesis 29:32, the Chairman charged believers not to allow life worries and challenges to hinder their praise and thanksgiving to God.

“Try and detoxify yourselves of any worries so that you have the heart to praise God,” he advised.

Apostle Nyamekye called on Christians to fellowship and fraternize, adding that, through that, they can let go of some life issues which will free their minds to offer praise to God.

The Heads’ Meeting is part of the activities that form part of the Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference 2023. The Heads’ Meeting is being attended by Area Heads, as well as Directors of Ministries of the church. National Heads from external branches are joining the meeting via zoom at designated places.

Don’t Take The Grace Of God For Granted – Apostle Nyamekye Tells Ghanaians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged Ghanaians to thank God for his grace in sustaining the peace and security of the nation.

“Sometimes we take the grace of God for granted. Let us, therefore, thank God for what he has done for us as a nation. The issue is that we do not reflect on this grace, that is why we do not appreciate the grace of God,” he asserted.

Apostle Nyamekye said this on Tuesday, January 10, 2022, during the maiden Thanksgiving Service organised by the Ministry of Education at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Preaching on the topic, “Thanksgiving and Wisdom,” Apostle Nyamekye noted that reflecting on the past year, the feelings may vary depending on how one measures it, saying, “No matter what happened, once you are alive today, the righteous requirement of you is to give thanks to the Lord.”

The Chairman, therefore, entreated the people of Ghana to count their blessings not their curses for no one has it all.

He stated: “We need to live in day-tight compartments. We need to have a firm assurance that our destinies are secured in God.”

Apostle Nyamekye urged Ghanaians to inculcate the habit of developing a positive attitude of thanksgiving toward the Lord in any situation that may befall them in their lives.

Using Psalm 100 as a scripture reference, he disclosed that people usually concentrate more on the losses than the gains, hence they fail to thank the Lord for his blessings.

He charged the citizenry to work hard to ensure a fruitful year and also avoid unnecessary worries about life.

“We disturb ourselves by carrying unnecessary burdens because tomorrow will take care of itself. Close the door to yesterday, shut that of tomorrow and live in today,” he said.

Touching on education, he asked Ghanaians to pray for a robust educational system that will enhance national development.

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, led the staff and heads of agencies within the Ministry of Education to offer prayers for the nation and its leadership.

Present were the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and his deputy, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.
