Kaneshie Estate Assembly Women’s Ministry Donates To Christian Rehab Centre

The Women’s Ministry of the Kaneshie Estate Assembly (KEA) of The Church of Pentecost has extended a helping hand to the Christian Rehabilitation Centre located at Bortianor in Accra.

The generous donation, which included toiletries, bags of rice, cleaning equipment, food items, clothing, water, and other essentials, aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of inmates at the rehabilitation centre.

The gesture is in line with the ministry’s annual “A Hand Towards a Life” initiative, reflecting their commitment to giving back to society.

The donation was accompanied by a vibrant float and an outreach programme to engage with the residents at Bortianor.

As part of the visit, the ministry, led by Deaconess Diana Bekoe, the Women’s Ministry Leader, organised a comprehensive health screening exercise for the inmates of the centre. The screening encompassed vital assessments, including sugar levels and blood pressure.

It is worth mentioning that, last year, the Church donated a brand-new refrigerator set and other items to the Gynecology Department of the Kaneshie Polyclinic to enhance their operations.

Speaking in an interview with PENTECOST NEWS, Deaconess Diana Bekoe emphasised that these charitable endeavours align with the broader vision of The Church of Pentecost, which is “Possessing the Nations.”

Elder Patrick Oppong, the North Kaneshie District Evangelism Ministry Leader, also shed light on the rationale behind such benevolent actions, saying that the Church is dedicated to making a positive impact in various spheres of society.

The founder of the Christian Rehabilitation Centre expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Women’s Ministry for their benevolence.

She said that the donation would contribute significantly to the smooth running of the centre and aid in the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals, ultimately empowering them to lead meaningful lives.

Edumfa District Holds Prayer, Safety Talk With Drivers

The Edumfa District in the Cape Coast Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a Prayer and Safety Talk with drivers in Edumfa and its environs.

Speaking at the maiden event, held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Edumfa Central auditorium, the District Minister, Pastor Robert Asamoah, gave a brief exhortation on the topic: “Commit your ways to the Lord” with scripture reference to Proverbs 16:3,9.

Pastor Asamoah admonished the drivers to let God be the centre and leader of all their endeavours.

“Many people resort to various spirits to help run their businesses. As drivers, God should be the only source and sustainer of your work,” he admonished them.

Knowing that many people depend on the services of commercial vehicle drivers for transportation, Pastor Asamoah stressed the need for drivers to keep road safety regulations as the year ends with Christmas festivities ahead.

Statistics from the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), published by Graphic Online on July 13, 2023, revealed that 1,086 people died out of 6,904 reported road crashes from January to June 2023. The statistics also showed that vehicles involved in road crashes stood at 11,763 from January to June.

Due to these alarming statistics on motor accidents and the thousands of precious lives being claimed, it has been envisioned by the Edumfa District to hold its prayer and safety talk time with drivers quarterly as a means of contributing its quota to the ‘Drive Alive” message the National Road Safety Authority has been preaching.

As part of the programme, the District Pastor took the drivers through an intensive time of prayers. Aside from their work, prayers were made for their felt needs, including their marital lives, health, and children.

The drivers were delighted with the meeting.

Yennyawoso District Holds “Jericho Hour”

The Yennyawoso District of The Church of Pentecost has organised a prayer meeting dubbed: “Jericho Hour,” to quicken the prayer life of members, intercede for the Church, the nation, and the world at large.

The event, being the initiative of the District Minister, Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu, which was held only in the morning, that is, from 6am to 8am under the theme: “Let God Arise and His Enemies Be Scattered” – (Psalm 68:1-2), took place from December 4 to 8, 2023, at the Central Assembly auditorium. It was heavily attended by members and non-members of the Church.

Speaking at the opening session, Pastor Adubofourh Asiedu, revealed that “Jericho Hour” prayer meeting has come stay, which according to him, would be held once a month.

Reading from Psalm 68:1-2 and Numbers 10:35, he centered his message on the ark of God. According to him, the ark of God was a symbol of God’s presence among His people.

For this reason, he explained, whenever the ark of God set out, Moses would say: “Arise, Lord! Let your enemies be scattered, and those who hate you flee from your presence,” signifying God’s power and His presence. He stressed that God’s power is incomparable and unparalleled.

Pastor Adubofourh Asiedu narrated the story involving the ark of God and the Philistines in 1 Samuel Chapter 5, where their god, Dagon, was dismembered, with the people afflicted with tumours as a result of the ark to emphasize the power and sovereignty of God.

He said that when the Philistines realised that they could not withstand the power of God, they returned the ark to the Israelites with gold and other valuable items.

“When our God goes forth, no opponent can stand against Him,” he stressed.

The Yennyawoso District Minister admonished the congregants not to embroil themselves in sinful acts in their quest to experience God’s power as such contributed to the defeat of the Israelites by the Philistines, which resulted in the capturing of the ark, saying, “The power and the glory of God cannot be experienced and enjoyed in the midst of sin.”

Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu further charged Christians to allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in their lives since He (Holy Spirit) represents the ark of God in this dispensation.

After the sermon, he led the congregants into a time of prayer.

The week-long event witnessed a mighty move of the Holy Spirit as many testimonies were recorded.

“MPWDs Christmas Convention” Kicks Off In Tamale

The Northern sector of the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) of The Church of Pentecost has kicked off its three-day Christmas convention at the Radach Lodge and Conference Centre in Tamale under the auspices of the Tamale Area.

The ongoing convention, taking place nationwide, is under the theme, “Jesus Christ; The Hope that Brings Maximum Impact to All.”

Apostle John Budu Tawiah, the Northern Regional Coordinating Committee (NRCC) Coordinator and the Tamale Area Head of the Church, officially opened the convention yesterday. He spoke on the topic, “In Christ, We Have Hope,” using Hebrews 6:13-19 as his foundational text.

Apostle Budu Tawiah mentioned that every word that God has spoken can be relied upon because the one who has spoken cannot lie.

Explaining the text, he emphasised that for every word or promise to be sure, the one who gives it must vow with someone of greater authority, and since there is no greater authority than God, He swore by Himself.

“This should give every Christian hope because the one who has promised is the one to whom all authority and power belong. Whatever He has promised in His word will come to pass,” he said.

He quoted Hebrews 11:1,7 to assure believers that though there might not be a physical substance to rely on, faith must be built on the person of Christ through whom the promises have been made.

Concluding his message, the Tamale Area Head encouraged believers to exercise their faith in expectation of the fulfillment of the promises of God, notwithstanding the challenges.

In all, 150 participants were in attendance, drawn from all eight areas of the Church in the Northern Regions.

Also in attendance were sign language interpreters from the Bolga Area to assist persons with hearing impairments.

Rely On Jesus Christ – Pastor Reuben Awuni Tells PWDs

Pastor Reuben Awuni, the Coordinator for the Deaf Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, has advised Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to put their total trust in Jesus Christ, who is able to give salvation and not only on material things which will fade away.

He delivered this message on the second day of the 2023 Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) Christmas Convention, which is being held at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa-Fetthe, Kasoa, on the theme “Jesus Christ, Our Hope For Maximum Impact”.

Pastor Awuni, who is deaf himself, spoke from 1 Timothy 1:1 and shared his testimony of how the MPWDs has been a great blessing to him and other people with disabilities.

He said that the Vision 2028 from the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, which aims to equip and empower the MPWDs to be self-reliant and productive, has given them hope and dignity.

He also acknowledged the support they receive from the government, but stressed that their ultimate hope is in Christ, who died for their sins and saved their souls.

He said that being deaf is not a problem, as they can do everything that others can do, except hear.

Pastor Awuni said that the only thing that can make them worry in this life is being hopeless. He urged Christians to always look forward to their salvation, which is the most important thing in life.

He also explained that there are three types of hope that Christians have: the living hope, the blessed hope, and the glorious hope.

He said that the living hope is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as stated in 1 Peter 1:3.

He said that this hope gives them the motivation to share the gospel with others, especially those who are also disabled.

He cited the example of Paul, who did not lose hope even when he was arrested and persecuted, but continued to preach the word of God.

The MPWDs Sector Coordinator said that the blessed hope is the expectation of the second coming of Christ, as stated in Titus 2:13.

He said that this hope gives persons with disabilities the assurance that one day they will be healed of their disabilities and transformed into the likeness of Christ.

He said that this hope also gives them the courage to live holy and godly lives, as they wait for the Lord’s return.

“The glorious hope is the inheritance of the saints in heaven, as stated in Colossians 1:27. This hope gives us the joy and peace that surpasses all understanding, as we know that we have a place prepared for us in the Father’s house”, he revealed.

He said that this hope also gives them the strength to endure trials and tribulations, as they know that they have a crown of glory awaiting them.

He concluded by encouraging the congregation to hold on to these three types of hope, and to live for Christ, who is their hope for maximum impact.

Do Not Lose Hope During Hard Times – Pastor Alexander Nyame To PWDs

Pastor Alexander Nyame, the National Coordinator for the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) at The Church of Pentecost, encourages Christians, particularly PWDs, to maintain hope in the Lord even during challenging and trying times.

During the opening session of the MPWDs Christmas Convention at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, yesterday, Pastor Alex Nyame emphasised the importance of trusting in Jesus Christ amid difficulties, stating that relying solely on human beings often leads to disappointment.

Expounding the convention’s central theme, “Jesus Christ; Our Hope For Maximum Impact,” Pastor Alex Nyame asserted that Jesus Christ is the ultimate hope for the world, having come to earth with the specific purpose of offering hope to the hopeless.

He reassured believers of Jesus’ faithfulness and the promise of a prosperous future both on earth and in the afterlife.

He advised the not to lose hope but persevere through suffering and disability by maintaining faith in God.

“During your moments of suffering or in the face of disability, do not succumb or lose faith in God; God is going to glorify Himself with your situation,” he emphasised.

Pastor Nyame, therefore, advised PWDs against placing trust in relatives or friends, as they may not always fulfill their promises.

Instead, he urged attendees to place their faith in God, trusting Him to deliver them from challenging circumstances.

NDLDC Holds Consultative Forum On Vision 2028

The National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee (NDLDC) of The Church of Pentecost has held a two-day consultative forum on the mandate of the committee in Vision 2028 for the church.

The committee, chaired by Apostle Samuel Kojo Gakpetor, is tasked with discipling the church and training leaders for the church at all its facets. The two-day consultative forum teased out all issues outlined in Vision 2028 that relate to the committee’s mandate and carved out a strategic plan aimed at running with the vision.

The forum was under the theme: “The Repositioned Local Church as a Discipling and Unleashing Centre.”

Opening the forum, Apostle Gakpetor took the participants through the second chapter of 1 Peter (the main text for the 2024 theme) in a group expository discourse to serve as the bedrock for deliberations.

Apostle Gakpetor revealed to the participants that at the core of Vision 2028 lies the mandate of NDLDC.

“It is the discipled member that is unleashed to transform society,” Apostle Gakpetor observed, adding that “social services alone won’t change Ghana but social action and social change, and we must equip and unleash the members to lead that agenda in their worlds.”

He charged the participants to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them to come up with practical strategies aiding the implementation of the committee’s mandate in the light and direction of Vision 2028.

Touching on the leadership development mandate of the committee, Apostle Gakpetor mentioned that one challenge consistently running through reports from the grassroots church, especially from internal mission areas, has been the lack of leaders.

Apostle Gakpetor explained that it is not because there are no people there but because the people could not read and write.

He mentioned that through the Pentecost Literacy Project, there’s a need to equip the indigenes, especially those who have established there, to aid in raising leaders to drive the vision at the grassroots.

The participants, after a collective brainstorming period, later went into three cohorts to discuss components of Vision 2028 that were continuity of Vision 2023 in Vision 2028, new directions for the NDLDC under Vision 2028, strategies to aid in the specific implementation of Bible Study groups for discipling members, Home Cell for fellowship, pastoral care, and community impact, lay leadership training school for equipping church workers, Pentecost Literacy Project to empower members to read and write, community impact initiatives to transform the communities, and a mentoring framework for a succession plan.

Other issues touched by the forum were team formation and mandate to push the task of NDLDC, identify collaborators and strengthen their role or cultivate new ones, strategy for social media use to accelerate the implementation of the vision by the committee, amongst others.

The 17-member consultative panel was made up of members of the National Executive Committee of the NDLDC, representatives from various sub-teams of the committee, and some prominent members and ministers of the church, including two retired ministers, Apostle Peter Ayerekwa and Pastor Henry Ako-Nai.

At the end of the forum, the NDLDC drafted a strategic framework with timelines and assigned responsibilities tailored to ensure a successful implementation, evaluation, and monitoring towards achieving the dictates of the vision. This shall be pursued after further consultation with the top leadership of the Church.
