Best Way To Impact And Transform People Is To Be Exemplary – Apostle Derek Mireku

The most effective way a leader can impact and transform people is to lead by example, Apostle Derek Kwaning Mireku, Agona Swedru Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has said.

Apostle Derek Mireku said this during his annual engagement with the staff of the five centers of Compassion International Ghana in the Agona Swedru Area.

Speaking on the topic: ‘Unleashed in Spirit and in Truth to Transform Generations,” the Swedru Area Head emphasised the need for children workers to advance Kingdom values and principles in all their engagements with the youth and children.

He cautioned against questionable lifestyles and urged them to be accountable in their dealings with Compassion International and The Church of Pentecost.

Apostle Mireku observed that as representatives of the church and Compassion International, the staff are strategically placed to be ambassadors of Christ and the two institutions.

He called on them to exhibit a great level of integrity in their dealings with beneficiaries and their guardians.

Touching on the unleashing mandate of the church, Apostle Mireku said the church is God’s power instrument to effect transformation in every sphere of life. “Thus, if we do not go out there, spheres will remain untransformed,” Apostle Mireku iterated, adding that “God is counting on us representing Him well.”

He pleaded with the staff to focus on forming Christ in the people under their care while advancing their social well-being.

Apostle Mireku posited that compassion is about the heart of Christ, and that is the total well-being of the spirit, soul, or body.

“The best way to impact and transform the body, soul, and spirit is by being an example to others in word and deeds,” he stated.

The annual engagement is held every December for the centers to brief the Area Head of their activities and also share best practices amongst themselves.

This year’s meeting was held at the Nyakrom Central Assembly auditorium. In attendance were the seven pastors, including the host minister, Pastor William Ofosu Asiamah, Pastor George Osei-Asiedu (Area Secretary), Pastor Nathaniel Asare (Area Children’s Ministry Leaders), and Pastor Paul Obuobi (Area PENTSOS Coordinator).

Work Is Part Of God’s Plan For Humanity – Apostle Gyau Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has hinted that work, as tedious as it may seem, is part of God’s plan for humanity and is never a product of sin.

He highlighted the divine origin of work, stressing that it was God’s plan for humanity, rooted in the Scriptures, thus Genesis 2:15, when man was placed in the garden of Eden to work and care for it.

He, therefore, asserted that work is not a consequence of sin but an integral part of life, a concept established at the beginning of creation.

Apostle Obuobi made this remark during a presentation on “Workplace Ethics” at the 2023 Headquarters Staff and Management Retreat underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Citing biblical examples like Apostle Paul, who worked tirelessly day and night (1 Thessalonians 2:9), Apostle Obuobi conveyed that work is a timeless principle. He mentioned that 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 illustrates the value of diligence, stating that work is not a punishment but a creation concept.

He explained the importance of workplace values as prerequisites for organisational success, saying, “Values are the guiding principles deemed paramount at work. These values, both personal and organisational, form the foundation for decision-making, enjoyment of life, and overall success within any institution.”

The General Secretary mentioned some key workplace values as excellence, diligence, integrity, accountability, team spirit, loyalty, confidentiality, and hard work.

He asserted that excellence must be a lifestyle, emphasising its pursuit in every aspect of life.

He defined diligence as working carefully and with much effort, a virtue preventing slothfulness.

Apostle Obuobi concluded with a passionate call not to compromise on these foundational values, emphasising that great institutions are built on great values.

The Church Of Pentecost Embarks On Digital Transformation Journey WEB

The Church Of Pentecost Embarks On Digital Transformation Journey

The Church of Pentecost, a global Pentecostal church with millions of members across over 151 nations, is undergoing a digital transformation agenda to achieve its vision of ‘Possessing the Nations’ and transforming lives with godly principles and values.

The church recognises the need to adopt modern technology to improve efficiency, productivity, and ministry decisions.

This was revealed by the IT Manager at The Church of Pentecost General Headquarters, Pastor Paul Odai Laryea, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, during the annual Head Office Management and Staff Retreat underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) near Kasoa.

According to Pastor Laryea, the digital transformation agenda addresses the church’s current and future IT challenges, such as integrating systems and processes, scaling up operations, ensuring security and compliance, accessing and utilising data, and enabling remote work and collaboration.

“The vision of this digital transformation is clear – strategically positioning the church on a robust digital path, aligning with its mission to possess the nations and transform lives with godly principles,” he said.

He added: “The mission is to sharpen the church’s digital edge, placing it on high-tech wheels, reshaping processes for data-driven information systems governance, and equipping ministers, staff, lay leaders, and all members to embrace technological advancements.”

He stressed that the ultimate goal is to utilise these advancements to reach more souls, raise leaders, establish churches, make disciples, and exemplify Christ-like character globally.

According to him, the church’s goals include the digitalisation of administrative functions, the acquisition of advanced systems, the expansion of IT infrastructure, policy documentation, information sharing, and skills training.

He explained that to increase productivity and corporate flexibility, the church is focused on automating various operations at different levels, streamlining reporting processes, and improving communication across church levels and among its workforce.

PENTERP System and Beyond

Central to this digital overhaul is the ‘PENTERP’ system, featuring a Financial Management System, Inventory Management System, Human Resources Management System, Asset Management System, and Project Management System.

Beyond PENTERP, the church is adopting various systems such as Church Management, Appraisal, Conference, and Ministerial Interview Management, along with integrating Microsoft 365, a Geographical Information System, Online Store, Job Portal, Document Management System, Online Payment System, and more.

Infrastructure Enhancement Initiatives

The church is actively investing in acquiring advanced systems, state-of-the-art IT devices for its offices, a central server to support a distributed computing environment, and improvements to its network infrastructure.

Pastor Odai Laryea emphasised: “As we digitalise our church’s operations, we are not just upgrading systems, but we are elevating our mission to possess nations.”

He indicated that the church is prioritising policy documentation, advanced IT security measures, and comprehensive skills training to align IT best practices with ministry goals.

He noted that digital transformation is not merely about technology but a strategic shift in delivering the message.

“As we embark on this digital transformation, we are not changing our message; we are changing how we deliver it to meet our congregation where they are in the digital age,” he said.

This ambitious initiative positions The Church of Pentecost as a forward-thinking institution ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the digital era, ensuring its messages reach a global audience effectively.

Whistler Barracks Worship Center Dedicates New Children’s Ministry Auditorium

Whistler Barracks Worship Center in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, on Sunday, December 10, 2023, dedicated a newly-constructed Children’s Ministry auditorium.

The ceremony was officiated by the General Secretary, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, with support from Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah-Agyeman (Teshie Nungua Area Head), Apostle Dr. Col. Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode (Military Chaplains’ Coordinator), and Pastor Captain Collins Badu Agyapong (Resident Minister for Whistler Barracks Worship Centre).

Preaching on the topic “No More Manger for a Child,” Apostle Dr. Col. B.G. Kumi-Woode quoted Luke 2:7 and Ephesians 2:22 and explained that of all the places that Jesus could be born, no one pitied Mary – a pregnant woman to offer a better place for her delivery than a manger.

“The place of worship for the Children’s ministry is a type of manger that must bring much comfort to the children,” he explained further.

He added that the church is the only place where some children receive love and care, so it becomes worrying when they are neglected in their place of worship.

Apostle Kumi-Woode continued that at times when church buildings are constructed, the main focus becomes where the adults will worship while the Children’s auditoriums are neglected, and the children are left to worship under trees and tents.

He concluded that Christians should extend love to all, especially children, in this Christmas festive season.

The General Secretary dedicated the Children’s Auditorium and a newly constructed mission house to accommodate the Resident Minister and his family.

He commended the leadership of Teshie Nungua Area and Whistler Barracks Worship Centre for constructing the Children’s Ministry auditorium and a place of residence for the resident minister.

Pastor Capt. Agyapong was grateful to the leadership of the Church and the Area for their enormous support.

In attendance were Air Vice Marshal Appiah Agyekum (Deputy Chief of Staff, Administration – Ghana Armed Forces), Rev Commodore Paul Adjei-Djan (Director General of Religious Affairs – Ghana Armed Forces) and Mrs Korkor Obuobi (wife of the General Secretary). The Guest of Honour for the occasion was Vice Admiral Seth Amoama (Chief of Defence Staff – Ghana Armed Forces)

Praise The Lord At All Times web

Praise The Lord At All Times – Chairman Advises Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called upon Christians to consciously celebrate the goodness of the Lord under all circumstances.

The Chairman said this today [December 12, 2023] during this year’s annual CoP Headquarters Management and Staff Retreat at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

Speaking on the topic: “Praise the Lord At All Times,” with Psalm 34:1-2 as his foundational text, Apostle Eric Nyaemkye emphasised that while it may be easier to praise and extol the name of the Lord during favourable times, it becomes challenging during difficult moments.

Using the example of Job, he encouraged Christians to make a deliberate choice to bless the name of the Lord at all times, especially when faced with unfavourable circumstances.

“Praise is a choice. You can decide to praise or complain. So, when you wake up and hear bad news, you can still decide to let praise proceed from your mouth,” he remarked.

Apostle Nyamekye highlighted that praise is an expression of gratitude to the Almighty God for goodness and mercies, and it is important for believers to cultivate this attitude.

Drawing from the story of Leah in Genesis 29:31-35, he illustrated how she chose to complain about not being loved by her husband, but her situation remained unchanged until she decided to praise the Lord after the birth of her fourth son, whom she named Judah, meaning praise.

The Chairman underscored that praise is an acknowledgement that the Lord is God and that He is a good God., adding that the ability to praise God in times of predicament is a testament to one’s spiritual maturity.

He, therefore, urged Christians to focus on praiseworthy thoughts and ensure that only praiseworthy words proceed from their mouths.

This year’s Management and Staff retreat will feature new activities, including indoor games to foster camaraderie among staff and a carol service to express gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout the year. The event will close on Friday, December 15, 2023, with a retirement service for retiring staff.

PIWC West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care For The Elderly” Programme Benefits 150 web

PIWC West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care For The Elderly” Programme Benefits 150

A total of 150 elderly people have benefited from the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care for the Elderly” programme.

The number, including widows and widowers from all districts of The Church of Pentecost (CoP) in the Kasoa Area, were freely screened and presented with items, including bags of rice, bottles of oil, drinks, and tomato paste, among others.

For the health screening, services offered included blood sugar tests, blood pressure tests, eye screening, as well as the provision of free medications for persons who needed them. Beneficiaries were also educated on general healthcare issues.

The Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Linda Mante, indicated that the “Care for the Elderly” programme was initiated three years ago under the leadership of the District Women’s Ministry and the leadership of PIWC West Hills.

She explained that the programme focuses on bringing joy to the elderly during the Christmas season.

“We aim to spread warmth and cheer by providing Christmas goodies to elderly individuals, ensuring they feel valued and cherished within our community. This year, we added free health screening to our package,” she added.

Deaconess Mante stressed the need for other churches, ministries, corporate bodies, and individuals to organize similar programmes to ensure the honouring and caring of the elderly.

“As Christians, Proverbs 23:22 reminds us: ‘Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.’ These programs offer crucial social interaction and emotional support, expressing care and gratitude while fostering unity and compassion within our broader society,” she added.

The Women’s Ministry Leader further underscored that her ministry, under the leadership and support of the Resident Minister, Pastor Philip Pascal Asiedu, was committed to continuing the ‘Care for the Elderly’ programme in the coming years.

“Our dedication to this initiative stems from our core values of compassion and community service, and we aim to sustain this meaningful tradition to continually uplift and support the elderly within our community,” she added.

Deaconess Mante used the opportunity to encourage all and sundry to get on board through sponsorships to enable them to expand their resources and provide more substantial assistance and care to a greater number of elderly individuals within their community.

Chairperson of the Planning Committee for the ‘Care for the Elderly’ programme, Cynthia Bonsah, noted that they included the health screening to give persons who couldn’t afford check-ups the opportunity to do so.

She was also hopeful that the Ministry would continue with the gesture to impact more lives.

Deaconess Salome Annoh, Lead, Health Team of the programme, said humans degenerate as they grow old, so they needed screening to be able to find out if something was wrong.

“So that’s for intervention if we find something wrong, then we try to solve it as early as possible to prevent complications,” she added.

Ato Richardson, a beneficiary of the programme from the Mandela Assembly of the Church, said he was extremely happy to be there and thanked the Ministry for the gesture, urging the leadership to continue in the years to come.

A widow, Vida Mensah, from Ebenezer 1 Assembly in the Kakraba District of the Church, blessed the ministry and similarly encouraged them to continue organizing the programme.

Wawabile Assembly Church Building Dedicated web

Wawabile Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The newly-constructed church building of the Wawabile Assembly in the Bole District of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated.

The building was dedicated on Friday, December 8, 2023, by the Sawla Area Head, Pastor Frederick Obboh.

The Wawabile Assembly, formerly known as Lamporga No. 1, was one of the assemblies which was opened at the time when the present Sawla Area had not yet been carved from the Wa Area.

The assembly, which started with few members, has now grown into a big church.

The members of the assembly, during its early years, worshipped under a tree and later moved into a temporal structure until 2021 when the then Area Head for Sawla, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, cut the sod for a permanent church building to be put up for the assembly. This was during the tenure of Pastor Kwaku Amponsah and Elder Emmanuel Yitah, as District Minister  and Presiding Elder, respectively.

Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye laid the foundation stone for the building on Friday, July 9, 2021, when the building reached a habitable stage.

This great foundation was built upon by the immediate-past Area Head, Apostle David Amankwaa, whose hard work saw the building project progress near completion.

Through the instrumentality of Pastor Frederick Obboh, the current Area Head, the building which is situated on a five-acre land, has been completed successfully to the glory of God.

Delivering the sermon at the dedication service on the topic: “Keep the Fire Burning,” the Sawla Area Secretary, Pastor Benjamin Addo-Boateng, with scripture references from Leviticus 6:13, touched on the need to have the presence of God among the people.

He noted that the church building serves as the symbol of the presence and a place of worship for the Almighty.

Pastor Addo-Boateng emphasised that the presence of God is influenced by the fire, who is the Holy Spirit.

He, therefore, charged members to make the church building a house of God where prayer and worship will be offered unto the Lord daily.

“The Lord admonished the Levites to keep the fire burning on the altar daily to ensure the continuous presence of the Lord which will take away sin and bring redemption to the lost and the captive,” he said.

In a brief remark, emphasised that leaders must ensure that the house of the Lord is made a safe haven where distress people can find solace in the Lord.

This, he noted, could be achieved, only when there is constant prayer in the church, proclamation of life-transforming unadulterated word of God, effective church services, and intentional discipling of converts to ground them in the faith, and unleashed to transform their sphere of influence with values, life-style, and principles of the kingdom of God.

The Area Head admonished ministers to be filled with the Holy Spirit, for the priest in the New Testament is a carrier of God’s glory, adding that, glory must be edified to bring out spontaneous worship and sacrifices among the members who are the beholders of the glory of God which now resides in the priest.

Dedicating the church building, which has an attached children’s auditorium, Pastor Obboh expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of the Church for providing the funds for the project

He alao thanked his predecessors, Apostles; William Ohemeng-Kwakye, and David Amankwaa for their hard work and judicious use of resources.

On his part, the Bole-Customs District Minister, P/Overseer Samuel Obeng, thanked all past district ministers and all others who contributed in diverse ways towards the successful completion of the project

Present at the dedication service were Mrs. Joana Mina Obboh (Wife of the Area Head), ministers in the Area and the Area Deacon, Elder Pourimah.
