The Resident Campus Minister for the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) – University of Ghana Branch, Pastor Kwadwo Obeng, has stated that God has a plan and a purpose for every person, regardless of their appearance or situation.

He said that God chose the Israelites as His special people in the Old Testament, but they became proud and despised other nations. However, Jesus Christ came to save everyone who believes in Him, whether Jews or Gentiles and to break the wall of hostility between them.

He emphasised that anyone who accepts Jesus as their Lord and Saviour becomes part of God’s family and enjoys the privileges and responsibilities of being a child of God.

He said this when he delivered a sermon on the topic: “Taking your place in God’s family” at a midweek service held on January 17, 2024, at the Akuafo Hall, TacoBell Square on the University of Ghana Campus.

He used Ephesians 2:10-19(NLT) as his main scripture reference, and Exodus 19:5 and Deuteronomy 7:6-8 as supporting texts.

He quoted Romans 8:16-17 and 1 Peter 2:9 to show that Christians are heirs of God and a royal priesthood and should not be intimidated by the devil.

He also affirmed that everyone in God’s family matters and that age is not a factor in serving God.

The Campus Pastor advised Christians to identify their gifts and talents and to use them for God’s glory.

He said, “Identify something and do it for God because you must take your place in God’s family. If you fail to identify your place, that part of the family is suffering. What you fail to do may affect the family. Don’t imitate what others do; do what God has granted you to do.”

The newly constructed church building of Apesika Central Assembly in the Kintampo Area of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated to the glory of God.

The dedication ceremony was presided over by the Kintampo Area Head, Apostle Francis Agyemang Badu, in a colourful event held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Apesika.

In his address, Apostle Francis Agyemang Badu commended the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and the Executive Council for consistently releasing grants to support church buildings in the internal mission areas.

He acknowledged that Headquarters grants played a significant role in completing the central building. Apostle Badu expressed gratitude to former Area Heads, including Apostle R.C Ackon (Rtd.) from the Techiman Area, Apostle Patrick Aseyoro, and Apostle G. O. D. Debrah, under whose tenure the building commenced.

He also conveyed appreciation to the first district minister of Apesika, Pastor Isaac Sunkwa, for initiating the project. The artisans, officers, and members of the Apesika District were also commended for their immense contributions to the building.

On his part, Pastor Godfred Osei Frimpong, the current Apesika District Minister, expressed gratitude to the Area for their massive support and thanked the Chief of Apesika for providing the land for the church building’s construction.

During the event, Pastor Charles Akanwi, the Kintampo Newtown District Minister and Kintampo Area Secretary, delivered a sermon on the topic, “The Church as a Place Of Refuge.”

He urged believers to make the Church their abode at all times, defining the Church as the people of God, the body of Christ, and a meeting place for worship.

Drawing parallels with the city of refuge in Joshua 20:1-9, Pastor Akanwi explained that, like the Israelites seeking refuge, people run to the Church to receive forgiveness of sins, freedom from the curse through Christ, and safety from pursuing guilt.

He emphasised the safety of the church and encouraged members to root themselves in the church, avoiding seeking help from alternative means.

Pastor Akanwi concluded by inviting those who had not accepted Christ to seek refuge in Him, just as the gates of the city were widely opened; Christ’s arms are open to welcome anyone who runs to Him.

The event was attended by Mrs. Theresa Agyemang Badu (Wife of the Area Head), Pastor Isaac Sunkwa (Gyahaze District Minister, Winneba Area), the area pastorate and their wives, Nananom of Apesika, a representative of the Kintampo South District Police Commander, as well as the presbytery and members of Apesika District.

Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Asante Mampong, has donated items to the newly opened Abrewankor Assembly in the Birem District of The Church of Pentecost.

The items included a lectern and some new and slightly-used clothing.

The church delegation, led by the Resident Minister, Pastor Samuel Kwesi Manu, who also serves as the Travelling Secretary for the Mampong Sector, presented the items during a short ceremony at the Birem Central Assembly on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Pastor Samuel Manu expressed hope that the donation would significantly support the young Assembly.

The Twifo Praso Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, has asserted that embarking on aggressive evangelism is paramount because it is the key to helping the church achieve the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda.

According to him, evangelism is the core mandate of every Christian, so there is the need to look at it critically, for without it, people will die and suffer eternal banishment from the presence of God. 

“You have the message and all the power backing you to rescue the perishing. The salvation message to a lost soul has been given to you, so preach it without fear,” he said, adding, “You have been commissioned to preach the gospel. Preach it to whoever you come into contact with. Remember that you have been discipled to make others disciples of Christ. 

Apostle Otu-Nyarko said this when launching the Twifo Praso Area 2023 One Member, One Discipled Soul campaign, which came off at Twifo Praso Asikafo Assembly church auditorium on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Reading from Matthew 28:18-20 and Rom.10:9-15, Apostle Otu-Nyarko spoke on the topic: “Repositioned to go and tell.” 

As part of the project, members embarked on personal evangelism, street evangelism, breakfast meetings, and rallies. 

Present at the launching ceremony were Mrs Doris Otu-Nyarko (wife of the Area Head), Ministry Leaders and their executives, and the Area pastorate and their spouses.

Overseer Daniel Nana Sei Mensah, the Resident Minister of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) French, Accra, has urged young people to remain focused and excel in their endeavours, assuring them that God will reveal their success at the right time.

According to Ovr Daniel Mensah, understanding one’s identity and maintaining personal purity is essential for a successful start, emphasising that “a successful start is rooted in self-awareness.”

He said this on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the University of Ghana (Legon) Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) Campus in Accra when he spoke on the topic: “Starting Well.”

Ovr Mensah outlined four key areas for students to concentrate on during their school years: spiritual growth, academic achievement, social interactions, and career preparation.

“Your time in school is a golden opportunity to accomplish significant things for God,” he stated.

He pointed out that students have more available time compared to those in the corporate world. He further recommended that young people study Apologetics to strengthen their faith defence.

Ovr Mensah underscored the importance of maintaining absolute purity in friendships between young men and women.

In summarising his advice, he suggested that students set spiritual objectives such as dedicating time for personal and group prayers and evangelism.

He also encouraged them to commit to exams without malpractice, participate in conferences and seminars, read enriching books, and seek internships during holidays.

In his closing remarks, Ovr Daniel Nana Sei Mensah asserted that maintaining integrity is not an act of wickedness.

He stressed that God desires us to uphold integrity in this morally compromised world.

In a significant stride toward deepening spiritual guidance and community leadership, the Dawhenya District of The Church of Pentecost has officially launched its Chieftaincy Ministry to bridge the gap between the Chieftaincy institution and the Church.

The District Minister, Pastor Bright Amankwah, launched the Ministry on Saturday, December 23, 2023, and emphasized the significance of the Chieftaincy Ministry and its pivotal role in connecting cultural heritage with contemporary spiritual guidance.

He also aimed to correct the misconception that Jesus is unconcerned about chieftaincy issues, often deemed paganistic, stressing that Jesus dwells in places of authority, the root of development in the land.

The gathering was graced with the presence of some chiefs and associates, including Nene Matthew Baah III (Stool Father, Odumase); Otseame Philip Baah (Odumase); Nene Martey Kwaku Arden II (Chief of Osorshie); Nene Tetteh Kodie Arden IV (chief of Dawhenya), and Madam Regina Morkor Tawiah Arden.

Nene Tetteh Kodie Arden IV, responding on behalf of the chiefs, appreciated the church for recognizing the importance of chieftaincy, believing that gradually the perception that “all chiefs are of the world and are not godly” will change. This, he noted, has led to many church members not showing interest in chieftaincy roles.

He expressed the belief that through this initiative, there will come a time when a member of the Church will be enstooled Chief of Dawhenya. He also encouraged the church to diligently pursue this ministry and continue praying for the chiefs and people of the land, pledging the support of the palace to the church.

The District Pastor appreciated the chiefs for gracing the occasion and pleaded that a Palace Assembly could be started with their permission so that the church could fellowship with the royals. He also pledged the church’s readiness to provide support, both spiritually and physically, towards the development of Dawhenya land.

In an era marked by rapid societal changes and evolving spiritual dynamics, the establishment of the Chieftaincy Ministry underscores The Church of Pentecost’s commitment to adaptability, inclusivity, and spiritual enrichment. It represents a profound step toward embracing diversity while upholding core traditional values, reinforcing the church’s position as a beacon of faith, unity, and guidance for its members.

The launch concluded with a collective prayer for the success and prosperity of the Chiefs and people of Dawhenya, as well as the Chieftaincy Ministry.

Two hundred and seventy-three chiefs, queen mothers, and royals in the Techiman Area of The Church of Pentecost participated in the maiden Chieftaincy Seminar organised by the National Chieftaincy Ministry of the Church.

The programme took place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Dwomor Central Assembly church auditorium.

The event, held under the auspices of the Area Head, Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani, aimed at bridging the gap between the Chieftaincy institution and the Church.

Addressing the gathering during the event, Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani, who doubles as an Executive Council Member, said, in Vision 2023, the Executive Council saw the need to bring all the chiefs and the royals together since they also have a role to play in the transformation agenda.

The seminar was handled by the National Chieftaincy Ministry Coordinator, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, who is also an Executive Council Member and the Director of the Men’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost.

Expounding on the theme “A People of God Unleashed for Maximum Impact in the Palace” at the event, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh noted that the ministry has a mission to reach out to royals so they can be converted followers of Christ to transform their world and also equip Christian royals with godly virtues, Kingdom values, and principles to influence their communities.

He further added that the ministry seeks to raise chiefs and royals like King Hezekiah and David to transform their world.

He also said the palace and the Church must come together to solve the challenges of the communities using 2 Chronicles 32:20-21 as scripture reference.

He charged the ministers in the Area to intentionally support the chiefs, queen mothers, and royals with prayers and encouragement so that they can overcome their challenges and be victorious as Christian Chiefs and royals.

Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh touched on the legal aspects of Chieftaincy in Ghana with reference to Act 270 of the 1992 Constitution and Chieftaincy Act 759 (2008), which establishes and regulates the institution and the conduct of chiefs.

He stressed that, according to the constitutional provisions, Chiefs must be validly nominated, elected or selected, and enstooled.

Again, Chiefs are not to be convicted of treason, fraud, take part in active (partisan) politics, and that anyone who desires to do so must abdicate their throne.

He, however, clarified that the laws of the country allow for a chief to be appointed to any public office for which he qualifies.

Elder Nana Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, the Paramount Chief of Yeji Traditional Area, who is also a member of the National Chieftaincy Ministry Committee and President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, encouraged the royals and traditional leaders to rely on God since the source of their royalty is from Him and not from any deity.

He also said ministers of the Church should always encourage members to take up chieftaincy roles when they consult them for advice.

Pastor Richmond Mensah, Techiman Area Chieftaincy Ministry Coordinator, led all the ministers present to pray for the chiefs and royals for divine protection and for their hearts to be opened to the gospel.

On behalf of the participants, the Techiman Area Head expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman of the church for his initiative towards the Chieftaincy Institution.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, Elder Nana Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, and the National Chieftaincy Ministry for organizing this seminar for the Area.

In attendance were Apostle Peter Agyei (Chairman Local Council of Churches, Techiman), District Chieftaincy Coordinators, some prominent chiefs and royals from the various traditional areas in the Techiman Area, the Techiman Area pastorate, Mrs. Martha Denteh (Wife of the National Coordinator), and Elder Kakyire Kwaku Asante (a co-opted Executive Committee Member, of the Chieftaincy Ministry).

In a momentous celebration, members of the Postin District of The Church of Pentecost gathered at the Buduatta Assembly church building on January 6, 2024, to witness the first church building dedication in the district in 30 years.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude as officers and members marked this historic occasion, a significant milestone since the district’s establishment in August 1994.

The Winneba Area Head, Apostle Daniel Tackie, conveyed his sincere gratitude to God, acknowledging the divine guidance that led the district through decades of challenges and struggles, ultimately culminating in the realisation of a dedicated church building.

He emphasised that every step taken was intricately woven into God’s master plan, highlighting divine foresight that comprehends the end from the very beginning.

The Area Head expressed, “God knew that he, together with the district minister, Pastor Isaac Acquah, would come and dedicate the church building,” offering a profound reflection on the orchestrated fulfilment of a long-awaited journey.

Pastor Michael Awuni, serving as both the Mumford District Minister and the Wunneba Area Secretary, delivered an exhortation under the theme “Equipping the Church as an Unleashing Centre.”

Drawing inspiration from scripture, specifically Ephesians 2:19–22, Exodus 25:1–8, and 1 Kings 8:41, he illuminated the significance of the church as a transformative space.

Pastor Awuni emphasised its pivotal role as a hub for equipping individuals, empowering them for ministry, and instigating positive change in their world.

The speaker enumerated essential characteristics of the church, including being the seat of power, a place where God’s word meets human character, a hub for discovering and unleashing gifts, a centre for unity and community, a space for prayer, and a stronghold for averting calamities in the nations.

Concluding his message, the Winneba Area Secretary stressed the importance of resourcing the church with projectors, baptisteries, and other essentials while emphasising the need for ongoing maintenance.

Delving deeper into this notion, Apostle Tackie reiterated the crucial necessity for church leaders to depend on the Holy Spirit for both guidance and empowerment.

Stressing the weightiness of leaders’ responsibilities when featured on the speakers’ plan, he emphasised that embracing this reliance on the divine would not only enhance their effectiveness but also transform them into vessels God can proficiently utilise within the church—the pivotal hub for equipping and unleashing spiritual potential.

In tracing the chronicles of the church building, Pastor Acquah illuminated the numerous challenges faced, notably three collapses.

Despite these hurdles, the district was faithfully guided by divine intervention to complete the construction, a journey initiated in 2012.

Building upon Pastor Acquah’s historical account, Obirifo Ahunako Ankobea Ahor II, the Gomoa Akyempim Paramount Chief who assumed the role of the first presiding elder for the local assembly in 1999, delved into the church’s formative years.

Undeterred by the adversities encountered, he steadfastly supported the church, generously contributing an acre of land, albeit encroached upon.

Additionally, he disclosed plans for a mission house designated for the proposed district, underscoring a commitment to the church’s sustained growth and development.

The construction of the Buduatta church building, which faced setbacks but ultimately triumphed, incurred a cost of GHS 123,820.00.

The event witnessed a diverse congregation of ministers and their spouses, featuring prominent figures such as Pastor Enoch Amoah, the former District Pastor, and Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, Omanhene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, accompanied by his wife.

Notable attendees also included Elder Bannor from the Ablekumah Area, Deaconess Ekua Tawiah Asemenyi, and representatives on behalf of Elder (Hon) Kwadwo Asemenyi, the former Gomoa MP, and Hon. Desmond Baidoo, the current Gomoa MP.

In addition to these distinguished guests, the ceremony attracted Area Executive Members, with Mrs. Abigail Naa Densuah Tackie in attendance, as well as officers from Gomoa Potsin.

The heartening presence of numerous members further added to the joyous atmosphere, creating a collective celebration of this remarkable achievement within the community. To God be the glory.

The Pentecost School Park in Asubone, Nkawkaw, was a hub of excitement and joy on Friday, January 5, 2024, as it hosted a grand New Year’s party for children.

The event, organised by the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Nkawkaw, was a resounding success, with over 2000 children participating in a variety of fun-filled activities.

The programme included a range of engaging and enjoyable activities such as Bible reading drills, a dancing competition, an eating competition, quote and quote, and choreography performances. These activities not only provided entertainment but also encouraged the children to showcase their talents and skills in a supportive environment.

In addition to the competitions and performances, the children were treated to an assortment of food, drinks, and sweets, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

The event also had a charitable aspect, with The Church of Pentecost-branded exercise books, pens, and pencils distributed among the children, ensuring that they not only left with happy memories but also with useful supplies for their education.

The success of the event was highlighted in a series of WhatsApp messages shared among the community.

The Resident Minister, Pastor Benjamin Asare, his Wife, Presiding Elder, and the leaders of the Children’s Ministry were praised for their outstanding efforts.

The kids’ happiness was a testament to the hard work put in by the organizers.

Significantly, the event also had a profound impact on the children, with 240 of them accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The Area Children’s Ministry Leader; Pastor Gregory Ndedey, in his speech at the event, expressed gratitude to the sponsors and volunteers, emphasizing the importance of investing in the younger generation, with the belief that the support provided to these children would yield positive results as they grow.

The English Assembly in the La District of The Church of Pentecost visited inmates of the La Police Cell.

The Church delegation, led by Elder George Aboagye, the Presiding Elder, along with Elder Maxwell Chidi and Elder Francis Semanyhia, undertook the visit on December 31, 2023.

Elder George Aboagye stated that the purpose was to share the love of Christ with the inmates.

To the glory of God, five inmates gave their lives to Christ during the visit.
