Preserve the Gospel For Future Generations — Chairman Urges Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye, has urged Christians to take deliberate steps to preserve the Gospel for future generations, warning that any distortion of its truth undermines the Church’s purity, growth, and impact.

He said this in a live televised sermon aired on PENT TV during a ‘Special Evening Service With The Chairman’ on Sunday, April 12, 2026, as part of his series on “The Church Destined to Be Holy.”

Continuing his message on “The Doctrinal Purity of the Church,” Apostle Nyamkye stressed the need to preserve the Gospel, explaining that it is the means through which God cleanses, raises and blesses His people.

“The Church must rise to defend the truth, because the Gospel must be preserved against the future,” he said.

Quoting Galatians 2:4–5 and Ephesians 3:21, he pointed to Apostle Paul’s firm defence of the Gospel, urging Christians to do same for future generations. He cautioned that any adulteration of the Gospel leads to a decline in the manifestation of God’s glory.

“If we want the glory of God to transcend generations, then we need to preserve the Gospel, he stated, urging believers to walk worthy of their calling, as instructed in Ephesians 4:1

He explained that walking worthy of one’s calling means living according to the standards God has set out in Scripture. He encouraged Christians to deepen their commitment to studying God’s Word, noting that this enables them to discern right from wrong.

While acknowledging the importance of prayer, he emphasised that the Word of God remains key to guiding believers to live worthy lives and to unlock divine blessings.

Apostle Nyamekye further stated that the preservation of the doctrinal purity of the Church establishes clear boundaries, enabling believers to understand and pursue God’s standards. He added that ministerial gifts are given to equip the Church towards maturity in Christ.

Referrencing Ephesians 4:14, he admonished believers to be discerning, explaining that while God uses people to lead, build, guard, and guide His Church, the enemy also uses humans to advance his purposes.

Drawing from 1 Thessalonians 2:3, the GPCC President observed that some teachers engage in deceptive teachings due to ignorance (Mark 12:24–27), self-interest (Philippians 2:19–21), and demonic influence on their consciences (1 Timothy 4:1–2; 2 Timothy 2:26). He highlighted the dangerous nature of such teachings, noting that they may appear convincing but ultimately serve Satan’s agenda of targeting nations and future generations (Revelation 20:2–3, 7–8).

Touching on the power of teaching, Chairman Nyamekye explained that teaching shapes belief, which in turn influences conduct, and ultimately culture. He added that teaching—whether through word, music, or drama—has a lasting impact on society.

“Wrong teaching leads to wrong beliefs, and eventually to wrong behaviour,” he cautioned, citing 2 Timothy 2:15–17 to encourage believers to diligently study God’s Word to avoid godless and misleading teachings.

He concluded by urging the Church to pay close attention to the teachings its members are exposed to, so that they can uphold sound doctrine while cultivating a strong and healthy community life for the world to see.

From Addiction To Restoration: The Transformational Story Of Stephen Anim

At 26, Stephen Anim has become a testimony of transformation following a structured rehabilitation and discipleship journey facilitated through The Church of Pentecost’s Home and Urban Missions (HUM).

Stephen grew up in Bortianor in Accra, where he lived with his mother and stepfather. Although academically promising, his education was affected by persistent financial challenges. He was later withdrawn from school after being unable to pay an outstanding examination fee of GHC 450.00, bringing his formal education to an end.

Following this setback, Stephen engaged in various menial jobs to support himself. After the passing of his stepfather, he worked as a driver’s mate and received informal driving training from a neighbour, which provided him with basic livelihood support. He later moved to Tabora, where he continued working as a conductor while developing his driving skills.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, economic hardship and idle time exposed him to negative peer influence, leading him into smoking, which gradually developed into substance dependence. He later engaged in substance sales while continuing occasional work as a driver’s mate.

A turning point came in September 2022 when Stephen was baptised during an evangelism outreach organised by the Nii Okaiman District of The Church of Pentecost. Following his conversion, he received follow-up care under the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) ministry.

In April 2025, HUM facilitated his enrolment into a six-month rehabilitation programme at the Christian Rehabilitation Centre under the leadership of Mama Eunice Johnson. He successfully completed the programme and was discharged after undergoing structured recovery and counselling.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, members of the church, together with his mother, gathered to give thanks to God for his recovery and reintegration into society.

Stephen is currently employed as a Farm Supervisor and is pursuing further personal development with aspirations to continue his education. He also maintains a growing interest in reading and self-improvement.

Home and Urban Missions (HUM) is a ministry of The Church of Pentecost focused on reaching expatriates, African migrants, the urban poor, and other unreached groups with the gospel of Christ.

The Bible Is The Only Proven Tool For Transformation- Pastor Peter Quayson

The Asenemaso District Pastor and Area Secretary of the Abuakwa Area of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Peter Quayson, has asserted that the Bible remains the only credible and proven tool for transforming a broken and dying world.

He made this statement during a sermon at the climax of the 2026 Easter Convention of the Asenemaso Zone in the Abuakwa Area.

The convention, which culminated in a powerful Easter Sunday service at Asenemaso, brought together members from various districts within the Area for a spiritually enriching experience marked by worship, prayer, and testimonies.

Preaching on the theme, “The Undisputed Evidence of My Salvation,” and drawing his message from 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 and 1 Peter 1:18-20, Pastor Quayson emphasised the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection in the believer’s transformation.

He noted that Jesus Christ’s three days in the belly of the earth serve as undeniable proof of God’s ability to fulfil His divine purpose.

“Jesus in the belly of the earth for three days is proof that God is capable of securing His vision to its fulfilment,” he stated.

Pastor Quayson stressed that in the face of growing global challenges, the Bible stands as the only tested and approved source of true transformation. According to him, any attempt at transformation that excludes the Word of God will yield no lasting results.

“Our transformation is the proof of our salvation through the redemptive plan of God,” he affirmed.

He further explained that God’s ultimate plan was to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin through the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus Christ—a plan that, though beyond human comprehension, was perfectly fulfilled through Christ’s death and resurrection.

The leadership of the Abuakwa Area expressed gratitude to God for the success of the convention, noting that the event reaffirmed God’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives through the power of the Gospel.

The Bawku Area of The Church of Pentecost, on April 3, 2026, commissioned and handed over a mechanized borehole to the Nintabugsuk community in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.

The intervention forms part of the Church’s Vision 2028 agenda, which prioritises social transformation and community development.

The dedication ceremony was attended by the Area Head, Pastor Michael Akwasi Asante, and his wife, Mrs. Selina Asante; the District Chief Executive for Tempane, Hon. Joseph Mbilla Ayaaba; ministers and their spouses within the Garu Zone, led by Pastor Elijah Aduako Adufo; as well as community leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Pastor Michael Akwasi Asante expressed appreciation to the DCE for his support and emphasised the importance of water as a basic human necessity. He noted that the Church’s intervention was aimed at improving access to potable water for the community.

Drawing from John 6:5, he highlighted Jesus Christ’s concern for the holistic well-being of people, stressing that the Church remains committed to meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of society. He also urged the community to maintain the facility to ensure its sustainability.

Prison Council Engages Presidency Over Prison Reforms web

Prison Council Engages Presidency Over Prison Reforms

The Chairman of the Prisons Service Council, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has called for urgent government intervention to address critical challenges facing the Ghana Prisons Service. According to him, the prions work should be taken serious as missions work.

Delivering a speech during a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House on April 14, 2026, the Prisons Council Chairman outlined a comprehensive overview of the Service’s operations, highlighting both notable achievements and pressing concerns.

He was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka; the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.); and other Council members.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi indicated that while the Ghana Prisons Service has made strides in areas such as inmate rehabilitation, healthcare delivery, and security enhancement, persistent issues continue to undermine its effectiveness. Chief among these are inadequate budgetary allocation, severe prison overcrowding, poor staff accommodation, and obsolete logistics.

According to the Chairman, Ghana’s prisons currently house over 15,000 inmates across 44 facilities, with an overcrowding rate nearing 50 percent. Some facilities reportedly operate at more than double their capacity, creating security and humanitarian concerns.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi further revealed that delays in payments to food suppliers, with some exceeding a year, are threatening inmate feeding, while outstanding medical bills risk disrupting healthcare services for inmates and officers. The situation, he cautioned, could trigger unrest within prison facilities and strain national security systems.

Despite these challenges, the Service, he noted, has recorded significant progress, including improved inmate classification systems, enhanced healthcare through the establishment of a Health Directorate, expanded vocational training programmes, and strengthened security through specialised units such as intelligence, rapid response, and counter-terrorism teams.

A major highlight of the address was the introduction of the “Think Prisons 360 Degrees Transformational Agenda,” a reform blueprint aimed at modernising the Service into a self-sustaining and human rights-compliant institution.

Under this initiative, he disclosed that the Service has secured a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Education to produce at least 30 percent of school uniforms and furniture, as well as 25 percent of sanitary pads. The Council described this as a breakthrough that will boost inmate skills development and generate revenue.

Looking ahead, the Council proposed several measures to improve operations, including the completion of a 2000-capacity remand prison at Nsawam, acquisition of modern security equipment, expansion of prison infrastructure, and digitalisation of inmate management systems.

He also called for reforms such as the passage of the Parole and Community Service Bills to reduce congestion, improved conditions of service for prison officers, and increased recruitment of professionals, including medical personnel and technical instructors.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi concluded by reaffirming the Council’s commitment to supporting government efforts in strengthening national security, public safety, and the rehabilitation of offenders.

He expressed optimism that with the President’s support, the Ghana Prisons Service can be transformed into a model corrections system in Africa.

La Area Honours Four Long-Serving Officers At Retirement Service

The Avenor District of The Church of Pentecost in the La Area was filled with gratitude and solemn reflection on Sunday, April 12, 2026, as four devoted officers were honoured for their long-standing service to the Church.

The retirees—Elder Emmanuel Oppong Owusu (44 years), Elder David Bronya Ntimah (30 years), Deaconess Beatrice Omari Asare (37 years), and Deaconess Christiana Oppong Owusu (33 years)—collectively served the Church for an impressive 144 years in various leadership roles.

Delivering a sermon titled “Crossing the Jordan,” the La Area Head, Apostle Dr. Dieudonne K. Nuekpe, drew inspiration from Joshua 4:1-7, likening the journey of the retirees to that of Joshua, who succeeded Moses and led the Israelites across the Jordan River. He noted that just as Joshua encountered challenges, including the overflowing Jordan, the honoured officers had also navigated the “wilderness of leadership” over several decades.

“Some were not able to cross their own Jordan, and others were halted along the way. But anyone who, by grace, has journeyed through leadership for over four decades, serving under different administrations, deserves to be acknowledged and commended,” he stated.

Apostle Nuekpe described the occasion as a “memorial stone,” urging the Church and future generations to draw inspiration from the faithfulness and dedication of the retirees.

While celebrating their transition from active leadership, he reminded them that their ultimate goal remains eternal life, not retirement. He encouraged them to continue supporting the Church through prayer and wise counsel, cautioning against any actions that could hinder emerging leadership. He also advised current leaders to serve diligently while they have the strength and opportunity.

He concluded with an exhortation from 1 Corinthians 15:58, urging all to remain steadfast and committed to the work of the Lord, assuring them that their labour in the Lord is not in vain.

The service, hosted by the Avenor District Minister, Pastor Edward Boakye, and his wife, with the support of the District Executive Committee, Presbytery, and the entire congregation, attracted several dignitaries. Among them were Apostle Yaw Agyei Kwarteng and his wife, Mrs. Bridget Agyei Kwarteng of the Kwadaso Area, retired ministers Pastor (Rtd.) George Kwesi Timinca and Pastor (Rtd.) Francis Amewugah with their spouses, as well as ministers from the La Area and beyond. Traditional leaders, including the Avenor Mantse and the Anum Chief, also graced the occasion with their entourage.
