Akosombo Pentecost Preparatory School Holds Maiden Graduation, Speech And Prize-Giving Day

The Pentecost Preparatory School (PPS) at Akosombo in the Eastern Region has held its first graduation ceremony and speech and prize-giving day.

The event which took place on July 27, 2019, under the theme, “Holistic Quality Education, a Shared Responsibility,” had the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, as the Special Guest of Honour.

In a speech, the Local Manager of the school, Pastor Wilson Ntiamoah, said the school which began in 2013 with three pupils, currently has 189 pupils. He mentioned that the school was established through the effort of Pastor Stephen O. Acheampong, who was then stationed at Akosombo.

Pastor Ntiamoah applauded the management, stakeholders and parents for being consistent in building the school in the past six years.

He stated that the PPS module seeks to imbue godly principles at the nascent stage of the lives of children in their growth process through education, saying, “The centre of learning is largely in fulfilment of the Church’s commitment towards affecting all facets of society which includes education.”

In his address, the General Secretary, Apostle Kumi-Larbi, admonished all and sundry to develop the habit of reading in order to be abreast with time since knowledge is key in the 21st century.

“We are lucky to be in this generation where information is bountifully available to us; if we complain of knowledge accessibility then we have a problem,” he said, adding, “The internet encompasses almost all fields, of which we must take advantage.”

The General Secretary, therefore, encouraged Christians to take up the responsibility to educate themselves personally.

He commended the school’s management for their selfless dedication in patterning the children with the gospel. He, however, admonished them to go the extra mile to chalk more successes.

The graduating class was made up of 26 boys 18 girls. There were a number of activities to display the talents of the pupil. The performances included poetry recitals, cultural dance, choral music and choreography.

Pupils with sterling academic performance were also awarded.

Present at the ceremony were Pastor Abubakar Issah-Gustav (Agormanya Area General Secretary) and Elder Amishaddai Kumi-Aboagye (Agormanya Area Executive Committee Member who is also the Chairman of the school’s board), among others.
