The Akim Ofoase District in the Akim Oda Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a glorious retirement service in honour of five officers who have served the church meritoriously for several years. The event took place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Akim Ofoase Central Auditorium.
The occasion was chaired by Pastor William Adu Gyamera, the Nkwantanum District Minister, with assistance from Pastor Francis Kofi Gyimah, the Akim Ofoase District Minister.
In his address, Pastor William Adu Gyamera, who also serves as the Area Pensions Committee Chairman, spoke on behalf of the Area Head, Pastor Samuel Acquaah. He exhorted the congregation on the topic “A People of God, Called to Bear Fruit” (1 Peter 2:9-10, John 15:16). He encouraged the church to demonstrate the fruits of repentance, faithfulness, obedience, and generosity in their leadership.
He advised that God desires His children, especially those in leadership roles, to bear fruit. “Any leader or child of God who fails to bear fruit disappoints God,” he emphasised.
Pastor Adu Gyamera expressed profound appreciation, on behalf of the Area Head, to the retiring officers for their commitment, sacrifices, and dedication over the years. He also urged the active officers to serve faithfully as leaders entrusted with the mysteries of God, knowing they are subject to accountability and rewards.
The retiring officers were encouraged to continue participating in church activities, as they were only retiring from active service as church officers, not from being children of God.
The officers honoured at the event were Elder Samuel Quainoo, who served for 30 years; Deacon Peter Hayford, who served for 41 years; Deaconess Stella Twumasi, who served for 22 years; Deaconess Alice Dede, who served for 20 years; and Deaconess Grace Antwi, who also served for 20 years.
Each retiring officer received a certificate of service, a citation of honour, and a cash gift in recognition of their sacrifices to The Church of Pentecost.
As part of the program, the District Finance Committee Chairman, Presiding Elders, and other ministry leaders were also acknowledged and appreciated for their contributions to the glory of God.
