The Ashaiman Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has underscored the centrality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Christian faith, describing it as the cornerstone of their belief and hope.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi, an Executive Council member of the church, made this passionate statement on Friday, April 18, 2025, during the Ashaiman Area (Estate Zone) Easter Convention held at the James McKeown Temple in Ashaiman. The Estate Zone comprises the Estate and Jericho Districts within the Area.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Resurrection Power,’ Apostle Kumi-Larbi drew from several scripture references, including Romans 8:10-11, Philippians 3:10-11, Colossians 2:12-15, and 1 Corinthians 15:19-20, to indicate that without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christianity would lose its meaning and purpose.

‘Resurrection happens when something that was once dead comes back to life. If you encounter Christ – even in your dead state – you shall live again,’ he said.

According to him, the resurrection is not just an event in history but a divine demonstration of God’s supernatural power, saying, ‘In science, power is defined as the rate of doing work. The greater the work, the greater the power. But God’s power is supernatural – immeasurable and timeless.’

He noted that the resurrection of Christ is a testament to Jesus’ divinity, sinless nature, and His fulfillment of the messianic prophecy. More importantly, it confirms that Jesus is the giver of life and strengthens the believer’s hope in eternal life.

Quoting 1 Peter 1:3, he added that the resurrection has reconciled humanity back to God and validates everything Jesus claimed to be.

‘If Christ is truly risen, then we need no further argument; it is enough that Jesus died and rose again,’ he declared passionately.

The former General Secretary of the church also stressed that believers, having received the resurrection power, should no longer walk in sin. Instead, they are to live victoriously, knowing that they are not second-class citizens in the Kingdom of God.

‘The effect of the resurrection is new life, forgiveness of sins, and victory in Christ. This same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in everyone who believes,’ he concluded, referencing Colossians 2:13-15.

Present at the service were the wife of the Area Head, Mrs Rose Dansoa Kumi-Larbi; Prophet J. E. Ameyaw (retd); Pastor Gideon Osei-Appau (Estate District); Pastor Samuel A. Amoakohene (Jericho District), and the entire congregation.
