The Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of the Mampong Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated branded exercise books and other stationery to pupils of some basic schools within the area.
The donated items, which also included pens and mathematical sets, were presented to pupils of Kona Methodist Primary and D/A 1 Junior High School (JHS), Nkujua A.M.E. Zion Primary and JHS, Samari Nkwanta D/A Primary and JHS, and Anyinasu Osei Blessing M/A Basic School.
The presentations took place at separate events on Wednesday, June 7, and Thursday, June 9, 2023, as part of the recently held National Youth Ministry Week Celebration.
Addressing the staff and pupils during the team’s visit to the various schools, the Mampong Area Head, Apostle Samuel Kwabena Asare, who led the church delegation, said The Church of Pentecost, through the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM), is reaching out to the school pupils to help contribute to their holistic development.
“The main purpose of the visit is to share fellowship and encourage you to study hard to attain impactful feats in the future,” he told the pupils.
He continued that a truly impactful life is attained by living a Christ-centered life from childhood to adulthood and urged the children to strive to develop an intimate relationship with Christ.
Prayers were also offered to God for the staff and pupils of the schools, especially the BECE candidates, as part of the visit.
In response, the prefects of the various schools expressed their excitement and appreciation to the Church on behalf of their colleagues and indicated that the items received would be motivate them to strive for excellence.
Some of the headteachers in the beneficiary schools, overwhelmed by the visit and the donation, praised the Church and also called for more of such visits from other church organisations and individuals, stressing that this would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning for the children who are the future leaders of the nation.
In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS, Apostle Samuel Kwabena Asare reiterated that “Jesus Christ had a holistic ministry by having a concern for the spiritual, physical, and social lives of people, and one way the church seeks to emulate this is through the SOM.”
He advised the pupils to be encouraged by this gesture to excel in school, a feat that would glorify God and, in turn, make them useful to the nation.
He promised that the church would explore ways to do more and expand the scope of the donations in the future.
The Area Youth Ministry Leader, Overseer Enoch Kumi, also indicated in an interview that the area was buoyed by the vision of SOM as expressed in its slogan, “reaching schools, developing students,” and that’s why they visited the schools and made these donations.
He was confident that the visit to these deprived beneficiary schools was timely, and the gesture would have a maximum impact, as seen in the facial expressions of the pupils.
“This is the first time I have witnessed a church organisation come to visit my school in this manner for all the years I have been here as a headteacher,” said Mr. James Oseni Newton, the Headteacher of Kona Kona D/A 1 JHS, in an interview.
He commended the Church once again and called on others to emulate the same.

The others are Elder Clement Yeboah (Assistant Area Youth Leader & Teens Coordinator), Elder Isaac Homadi (Area SOM Coordinator) and a host of other officers of the Church.
