The Adansi-Asokwa District in the Obuasi Area emerged overall winners of the ‘Inter-District Sports Festival’ organised by the area’s Men’s Ministry (PEMEM). The Estate and Kunka districts followed in second and third place, respectively.
The keenly-contested soccer competition took place at the Ofori Stadium on Friday, December 3, 2021.
All three district finalists were presented with trophies and medals for their respective feats.
Individual awards were also presented to Peter Nkansah of Estate District; voted best player of the tournament, Thomas Aboagye of Kunka District; adjudged the best goalkeeper, and Emmanuel Arthur of Estate District; the top goal scorer of the competition with four goals.
Present at the event were the Obuasi Area Head, Apostle William Boakye Agyarko, who performed the ceremonial kick for the commencement of the football competition, as well as the Area PEMEM Leader, Pastor Benjamin Sarpong Mensah.
Pastor Samuel Annor Addo (Area Youth Ministry Leader) and Deacon Daniel Asare (Area PEMEM Secretary) served as match officials.
As part of the event, officials of Archivers Medical Laboratory organised free health screening for members and other spectators of the event. Patrons of the exercise were screened for Hepatitis B, Hypertension, Diabetes, vision problems, and eye disorders.
