Understanding Worship Is Key To Building A Glorious Church – Chairman

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has admonished Christians to understand what worship is all about to help them to build a glorious church and possess the nations for Christ.

He observed that many contemporary Christians wrongly believe that worship begins and ends in the church building and that whatever happens outside the church auditorium is a different ball game altogether.

“Understanding that worship is all that we do is important to build a glorious church and for the possession of the nations’ agenda,” he said, adding, “Understanding that God is spirit and that He cannot be contained in a place brings to our consciousness that in the New Testament we worship in temples without boundaries.”

Apostle Nyamekye made these assertions in his weekly series on ‘Living A Victorious Christian Life’ on PENT TV on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

Speaking on the topic, “Understanding the Christian Worship As A New Creation: The Church is Called to Worship,” the Chairman noted that the church is the new community of God and that God created us [the church] for His own pleasure. “He created us to worship Him,” he added.

Explaining what worship is, and reading from Exodus 20:5, Daniel 3:12, 18; Psalm 116:16-17, Hebrews 13:15-16, Apostle Nyamekye said that worship is literally to bow or to serve.

“Worship is bowing down before the Lord in complete submission and humility on the inside at all times making ourselves totally available to whatever He would have us say or do,” he said.

According to him, once a person has bowed down to the Lord in worship, there must be some readiness in his heart that whatever the Lord tells him he will do it. So after bowing down to the Lord in worship and you go back home to do things that contradict the word of God, then you are being a hypocrite, he pointed out.

He bemoaned that some believers do not understand worship – thinking that they can go to church on Sundays and bow before the Lord, but on Monday when they move to their workplaces then they forget about their Christian principles.

He stated: “There should be no dichotomy between the sacred and the secular – whatever you do is your act of worship. Every day should be a Sunday. Our domestic life is a domestic calling and worship to God. Likewise, our public life is our public calling and our act of worship.”

Reading from Acts 17:26-27, he mentioned that God is not far from Christians because His spirit [Holy Spirit] lives in them.

The Chairman, therefore, charged Christians to endeavour to be the best of everything they do. “If you are a father you are called to be a father and in that act, you are worshipping God. If you are a husband you are called to be a husband and in marrying your wife you are worshipping God.

“If you are a teacher you have to teach as in worshipping God. If you are a lawyer you have to practice to worship God. We should, therefore, seek to be the best of everything good – best fathers, best mothers, best teachers, best managers, and best of everything, because it is our act of worship to God.”

To become loyal to the Lord Jesus Christ, Apostle Eric Nyamekye advised Christians to ensure that they do not say, “No” to the Lord (Acts 10:9-14), and then avoid putting anything first before the Lord in their lives (Luke 9:57-62).

“If you really believe in the worship that you are offering to God, then in your heart set Christ apart as Lord. Nothing should compete with Him. He is the first in your life. There should be no ‘But.’ Set Him apart as Lord, because worship is to bow and to serve,” he concluded.
