The Twifo Bimpong Egya District in the Twifo Praso Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a quiz for basic schools in the district. The event, which took place at the Central assembly auditorium on Friday, May 28, 2021, was spearheaded by the District Minister, Pastor Abraham Gyabaah.
The competition attracted officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES) from the Twifo Atti Morkwa District as well as some members and officers of the church.
Pastor Gyabaah explained that the quiz, the first of its kind to be organised in the district, was in line with the Church’s vision of community transformation. It was also intended to motivate and encourage pupils to intensify their academic work, help bring out their potentials and raise the standard of education in the district.
According to Pastor Gyabaah, the church was planning to make the competition an annual affair.
The schools that participated in the competition were Bimpongso D/A Basic, Bimpong Egya D/A Basic, Canaan D/A Basic, Manteykrom D/A Basic, Asamoakrom D/A Basic, Christ Foundation Preparatory, Divine Grace Preparatory, Taylorkrom D/A Basic, and Nkwankyemaso D/A Basic. Each school presented three contestants, and the questions were set on the four core subjects, namely Mathematics, English Language, Social Studies, and Integrated Science.
At the end of the competition, Asamoakrom D/A Basic School emerged winner with 64 points. The first and second runner-ups – Bimpong Egya D/A Basic and Canaan D/A Basic schools – obtained 61 and 57 points, respectively.
Prizes were given to all the competitors for taking part in the quiz. The first three schools received special awards whilst the first school was given a trophy in addition to its award.
The headteacher of the winning school also received an award for the outstanding performance of his school.
The Head of Inspectorate in charge of Twifo Atti Morkwa District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. George Kofi Baidoo, on behalf of the District Director of Education, Mr. Anthony Takyi, thanked The Church of Pentecost and the District Pastor for organising the quiz in a grand style. He eulogized Pastor Abraham Gyabaah for his vision to transform education in the district.
Also present at the programme were Hon. Augustine E. Quaicoe (Assembly Member for Bimpong Egya Electoral Area), Hon. Augustine Appiah (Assembly Member for Bimpongso/Nkwankyemaso Electoral Area), Mr. Daniel Agyapong Budu (Bimpong Egya Circuit Supervisor of Education), among others.
