The Other Sheep Ministry of the Tema Greenwich Meridian District of The Church of Pentecost has organised a health outreach and wellness education programme at the Tema Community 2 Mosque as part of efforts to promote healthy living and strengthen community relations.
The event took place during the Thursday Zuhr prayers and brought together members of the Muslim community, including the Imam. The outreach was led by the District Minister, Pastor Dr Suleman De-Graft Issaka, and supported by Elder Prince Owusu Opoku, outgoing District TOSM Coordinator; Elder Michael Sasu, incoming District Coordinator; and Deacon Joseph Songpoo, Coordinator in the English Assembly.
A key highlight of the programme was an informative presentation by Elder Dr Eric Ottoo Tetteh, a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, who spoke on healthy lifestyle practices and preventive healthcare. He encouraged participants to adopt healthier habits and prioritise regular health checks as a means of preventing disease and improving overall wellbeing.
The session was highly interactive, with participants raising questions on a range of health issues, including the impact of industrial pollution on public health. Dr Tetteh provided practical medical guidance and wellness tips to help attendees make informed decisions about their health.
Members of the Muslim community expressed appreciation for the initiative and commended the Church for bringing health education directly to the mosque. Many participants also appealed for similar programmes to be organised in the future to benefit a wider audience.
The outreach forms part of the Other Sheep Ministry’s broader commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with people of other faiths while demonstrating Christ’s love through community-centred engagement and social interventions.
