Yesukrom Worship Centre Celebrates Cultural Heritage with Traditional Week

The Yesukrom Worship Centre in the Kasoa Area of The Church of Pentecost has successfully held its maiden Traditional Week celebration, a week-long event that showcased Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, food, and community dialogue.

The celebration, which ran from Tuesday, June 17 to Sunday, June 22, 2025, attracted church members, traditional authorities, community leaders, and residents from surrounding areas. The initiative aimed to promote unity in diversity and educate the youth on the significance of Ghanaian traditions within a Christian context.

The event opened on Tuesday with an exhortation by Pastor Prince Odoom, the Resident Minister of Yesukrom Worship Centre and Centre Manager of the Pentecost Convention Centre. He urged Christians to set aside their differences and embrace one another regardless of their cultural backgrounds.

In her presentation, Deaconess. Nana Yaa Boamah II, Paramount Queen Mother of the Breman Traditional Council and District Chieftaincy Coordinator, explained the rationale behind the celebration, stressing the importance of aligning cultural identity with Christian values.

Educational sessions held on Wednesday and Thursday featured various ethnic groups recounting the origins and meanings of their customs and traditions. The momentum intensified on Friday with spirited music and dance competitions, culminating in a Saturday food fair that featured delicacies from diverse Ghanaian tribes including the Fantes, Ashantis, Akuapims, Konkombas, Bonos, Dagatis, Akyems, Nzemas, Sefwis, Ewes, Gas, Ahantas, and others.

The week-long celebration was climaxed on Sunday with a special thanksgiving service. Delivering the sermon, Pastor Odoom encouraged believers to embrace their cultural uniqueness while upholding their Christian identity.

“Culture is the mix of influences that shape a person—especially when their upbringing, parental background, and current environment differ,” he stated. “A Christian raised among various cultures can reflect God’s love across tribal and ethnic boundaries.”

He emphasised that in multicultural worship settings like Yesukrom Worship Centre, believers from various ethnic backgrounds unite under one purpose—to glorify Christ.

“Being united in cultural diversity to represent Christ means we celebrate our differences while genuinely expressing His love to the world,” Pastor Odoom noted.

Key themes from his message included: Unity in Diversity: Emphasising collective harmony across different cultural groups, Christ-Centered Expression: Using culture to reflect and communicate the love of Christ, and Community Engagement: Strengthening bonds through mutual respect and shared worship.

The service was graced by several dignitaries and traditional leaders including: Deaconess Nana Yaa Boamah II (Paramount Queen Mother, Breman Traditional Council), Nana Kwame Abor (Odikro of Gomoa Yesukrom), Nana Kojo Gurah (Mankrado), Nana Yaw Kyereda (Gyaase), Nana Yaw Tekyi (Abusuapanyin), Nana Aba Gyesiwaa (Obaahemaa), Nana Kwame Barfuor (Arahen), Nana Kojo Abbew (Asafohen), Nana Kwase Etu – Banbohen

Others are Sariki Mutawakil, Sariki Osman Bukhari, Sariki Mardugu (Zongo Leaders), Togbe Hukpaste (Ewehen), and Nana Kofi Armah, among others.

Participants described the week as both spiritually enriching and culturally enlightening, expressing hopes that the initiative would continue annually to preserve cultural values while promoting Christian unity. Many attendees donned traditional attire, creating a vibrant display of Ghanaian heritage.

Apostle Obuobi Urges Ministers’ Wives to Lead Godly Lives

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has called on the wives of church ministers to pursue godly living as part of their calling as believers and co-labourers in ministry.

Speaking at the 2025 Ministers’ Wives Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa on Wednesday morning, Apostle Obuobi stated that the mission to ‘possess the nations’ can only be fulfilled by men and women who embody godliness.

‘The pastor’s wife has a responsibility to live a godly life. You are accountable for your own training in righteousness,” he stated, adding, ‘Train yourself in godliness, for godliness is devotion to God; it leads to a life that pleases Him.”

Addressing the theme, The Godly Woman,’ Apostle Obuobi quoted Christian author Jerry Bridges, saying, ‘No higher compliment can be paid to a Christian than to call them godly.’ He stressed that godliness must be the foundation of every aspect of the Christian life, leaving no room for alternatives.

He expressed concern over the tendency of some believers to appear religious while denying the power that leads to true godliness. To reinforce his message, he referenced several scriptures, including 1 Timothy 6:11, 2 Timothy 3:5, and 2 Peter 1:5.

Drawing lessons from the lives and ministries of Apostles Paul and Peter, Apostle Obuobi encouraged the participants to be effective and fruitful by embracing perseverance and discipline, which are hallmarks of the early church leaders.

‘Discipline your eyes, ears, attitude, and appetite in your walk with God,’ he urged. ‘Be intentional in every area of your life and ministry. Know the Scriptures by reading, studying, meditating on them, and applying them. Set boundaries and operate within them, remembering that no discipline is pleasant at the time, but it yields lasting fruit.’

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose web

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has underscored the need for spiritual transformation in today’s world, urging believers to embrace a life centred on Christ by moving beyond material pursuits to attain eternal significance.

‘A new life is not about money, jobs, houses, or cars,’ Apostle Nyamekye stated. ‘It is the life of God in man—eternal life that begins when we believe in Jesus Christ.’

He said this on Sunday, May 25, 2025, during a sermon he presented titled: ‘The World Needs a New Life,’ at the Merry Villas District in the La Area of the church.

Referencing John 14:6, he highlighted that true life is found in Christ alone. He further explained that without Christ, individuals are prone to immoral behaviours, as outlined in Galatians 5:19.

He stated: ‘Without Christ, you cannot bear good fruits; the fruits of the Spirit.’

Drawing from 2 Corinthians 4:10-11, Apostle Nyamekye indicated that the life of Christ should be evident in every aspect of a believer’s life, saying, ‘Our worldly body will perish, but the life of Christ in us should be revealed in our speech and conduct so that others may come to know Him.’

He stressed the importance of preaching the message of new life systematically, citing 1 John 5:12 and John 20:31. According to him, there are two kinds of people in this world: children of God and the others, revealing that if a person dies in their sin, there is no repentance for them.

Apostle Nyamekye also highlighted the significance of Gospel Sundays, encouraging believers to share their testimonies and preach the gospel as if addressing those outside the church.

‘We are reminded to preach the gospel and tell of the salvation message of Christ; how you have been saved from your old life into a new one,’ he noted.

He called on church leaders to equip members with the necessary tools to evangelise effectively. He bemoaned that most Christians do not know how to bring people to Christ. ‘As leaders, we should make intentional efforts to teach our members how to win souls,’ he advised.

Concluding his message, Apostle Nyamekye challenged believers to make soul-winning a personal mission, saying, ‘We must make it a habit to bring at least one soul to Christ.’

Be Yielded to the Holy Spirit, the Life of the Church – Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko web

Be Yielded to the Holy Spirit – Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko

The Elmina Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, has urged all Christians to be fully yielded to the directives of the Holy Spirit.

Speaking on the topic “The Holy Spirit, the Life of the Church”, he emphasised the importance of total dependence on the Holy Spirit in both church administration and personal life. He noted that the Holy Spirit does not require assistance from any other power, as He carries immense power in Himself—power that is the strength and life of the Church.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko made this clarion call during a meeting with all officers in the Area on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Elmina Central Assembly.

Drawing from Ezekiel 47:1-12 and Acts 1:8, he explained that just as the Spirit of the Lord took the prophet Ezekiel to a stream—which symbolised the Holy Spirit—and made him stand in it at varying depths, Christians must likewise seek to deepen their relationship with the Holy Spirit.

He added that there are levels of infilling of the Holy Spirit, and believers must yearn to be filled to the brim, rather than remain complacent at the shallow or surface level. This deeper infilling, he explained, is achievable through consistent fasting and prayer.

“The Holy Spirit brings healing, fruitfulness, freshness, and power, among others, to those who yield to Him,” he emphasised.

The meeting also marked the launch of the Pentecost Week Celebration, during which the leadership of the Church has declared a 14-day global fasting and prayer programme for all members.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko encouraged all officers and members in the Area to participate actively in this spiritual exercise, believing that through it, God would speak and work miraculously in their lives.

He concluded with a solemn warning that any church which sidelines the Holy Spirit or fails to involve Him in its operations and administration is destined for failure.

The Area Head also used the occasion to brief all presbyters in the Area on key decisions made during the 47th General Council Meetings held at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, from April 30 to May 2, 2025.

The meeting brought together all ministers and their wives, executive members, ministry leaders, and officers within the Area.

Snatching Souls From Flames The Church Of Pentecost’s Bold Commitment To Holistic Fire Redemption web

Snatching Souls From Flames: The Church Of Pentecost’s Bold Commitment To Holistic Fire Redemption

The Church of Pentecost has commissioned a newly built, state-of-the-art Fire Service Station at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region of Ghana. This landmark initiative is not just a gift to the community—it is a bold declaration of the Church’s holistic vision of redemption: a mission that rescues lives not only from the eternal fires of hell but also from the devastating flames of earthly fire.

For decades, The Church of Pentecost has been recognized for its passionate pursuit of souls—bringing the message of salvation to the lost and dying, and leading countless individuals out of the grips of sin and destruction. This spiritual assignment, often described as “snatching from the fire” (Jude 1:23), has been the bedrock of the Church’s evangelistic mandate.

Now, that mandate takes on a tangible, physical expression.

The commissioning of this modern Fire Station at Gomoa Fetteh reinforces the Church’s commitment to holistic ministry. Just as the Church labors to rescue souls from the eternal consequences of sin, it is equally invested in ensuring that communities are protected from the threat of physical fires. In doing so, the Church affirms a profound truth: that saving lives—whether from spiritual death or physical danger—is a divine responsibility.

This facility is more than brick and mortar; it is a beacon of hope. It provides fire officers with the resources, infrastructure, and tools necessary to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies. It is a lifeline for families, schools, and businesses in the region—a powerful intervention that could mean the difference between devastation and survival.

The parallel is unmistakable. The Church and the Fire Service are both in the business of fire fighting. One confronts the infernos that rage through buildings and farmlands. The other confronts the unseen flames of sin, despair, and eternal separation. Both require urgency, courage, and compassion. Both demand preparedness and purpose. And both are essential to the flourishing of society.

This act by The Church of Pentecost is therefore more than benevolence—it is theology in action. It is the gospel lived out in practical, transformative ways. It is a demonstration that the Church’s message is not only for the soul, but also for the safety and well-being of the body. Holistic redemption—body, soul, and spirit.

As Scripture reminds us in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Through this initiative, The Church of Pentecost has once again proven that it is a Church not only of words, but of works. Not only of prayers, but of action.

In a time when communities across the nation are grappling with emergencies and under-resourced safety systems, the Gomoa Fetteh Fire Station stands as a model of public-private cooperation, and a prophetic act of faith in action. It reaffirms that the gospel is not limited to the pulpit; it reaches the streets, the schools, and now, the fire stations.

Yet amid these noble efforts, there remains one fire that no earthly station can extinguish—the fire of the Holy Spirit.

This fire does not consume buildings or belongings. It consumes sin. It burns through iniquity and pride. It is a holy flame—untamed yet purposeful, fierce yet redemptive. It does not destroy but refines; it does not scatter but gathers. It is this fire that realigns the crooked, reforms the lost, and transforms communities from within.

As Scripture declares in Hebrews 12:29, “For our God is a consuming fire.” This fire is not to be quenched but fanned. It is to blaze across hearts and nations, igniting revival, reforming character, and restoring hope. It is the ultimate fire—not of destruction, but of divine transformation.

Through the commissioning of this Fire Station, The Church of Pentecost has revealed its unwavering dedication to a gospel that touches every aspect of life. It is a gospel that safeguards the soul and secures the community. It is a gospel that understands that true salvation is not only from the fire to come, but also from the fires we face today.

This is the Church in motion—preaching, protecting, providing.

This is fire-fighting on every front—earthly and eternal.

This is holistic redemption.

This is The Church of Pentecost.

This is holistic redemption from fire.

This is the Church of Pentecost at work.

This is salvation in word and in deed.

“MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE” — CHAIRMAN DEFENDS CHURCH’S SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS web

“More Blessed To Give Than To Receive” — Chairman Defends Church’s Social Interventions

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has reiterated that the Church’s growing investment in national infrastructure and community development is not a show of affluence, but a faithful expression of biblical values.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Pentecost Fire Station on May 14, 2025, Apostle Nyamekye quoted Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” emphasising that the Church’s developmental projects stem from a Christ-centred mission, not from financial surplus.

“We are doing all these not because we have in abundance,” he explained, “but to demonstrate the love of Christ and contribute meaningfully to national growth.”

He further quoted former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, saying, “What is done for the community lives beyond the individual,” to underscore the Church’s vision of creating lasting impact through legacy-driven development.

The Chairman noted that the newly commissioned fire station is part of broader church-led interventions that strengthen Ghana’s national security and emergency response systems. He reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to strategic partnerships with government institutions to advance national development.

Apostle Nyamekye listed some of the Church’s key infrastructure projects, including two police stations, two prison reformation centres (Ejura and Nsawam), with additional centres under construction at Obuasi and Damongo. The Damongo facility is expected to be commissioned in June 2025.

In the social sector, the Church has also made significant strides. Between 2019 and 2024, it installed 239 mechanised boreholes across underserved communities, benefitting more than 110,000 people. The Church is currently constructing five new health facilities—including a specialist hospital—to add to its 12 existing medical centres.

Apostle Nyamekye emphasised that these efforts are not merely acts of charity, but a practical demonstration of the Church’s mission to transform society with Kingdom values.

“As a church, we believe that we have been called not only to worship God but also to serve His purpose within society,” he said.

FORMER GENERAL SECRETARY AND WIFE DONATE VEHICLE TO ABURA GYABANKROM DISTRICT web

Former General Secretary And Wife Donate Vehicle To Abura Gyabankrom District

Apostle Albert Amoah (Retired), a former General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, together with his wife, Justice Julia Adjei Amoah (Retired High Court Judge and currently the Chief of Staff at the Ga Mantse’s Palace in Accra), has donated a KIA Sportage vehicle valued at GH₵150,000.00 to the Abura Gyabankrom District of the Church.

The donation was made on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, during a brief but significant presentation ceremony held at the couple’s residence in Abura Egotsia Kokodo, Apostle Amoah’s hometown in the Central Region.

Presenting the keys, Apostle Amoah expressed profound gratitude to God for His grace and provision, even in retirement. He emphasised that the gesture was a way of supporting the work of God in the District. He also encouraged the users of the vehicle to take good care of it and prayed that the purpose of the donation would be fully realised to the glory of God.

Receiving the keys on behalf of the Church, the Mankessim Area Head, Apostle Isaac Kofi Annan, thanked God and the donors for the timely and generous gesture. After inspecting the vehicle and praying over it, he handed it over to the District Minister, Overseer Bismark Bekoe, who also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the couple.

This donation comes as a major boost to the Abura Gyabankrom District, which has existed since 2001 without a dedicated vehicle. Earlier this year, in February 2025, the District had attempted to raise funds for the purchase of a vehicle through offerings, but the amount raised fell far short.

The unexpected gift from Apostle Albert and Justice Julia Adjei Amoah (Retired) has therefore brought great joy and relief to the leadership and members of the District.
