The annual prayer festival of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Sakumono dubbed “Back to Prayer Convention” has taken place at the Church’s auditorium at Sakomono.

This year’s event which took place from October 14 to 20, 2019, was on the theme, “At the Feet of Jesus” – Mark 7:25.

Preaching at the event, the Evangelism Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, said that great leadership calls for sacrifices as taught by Jesus Christ. “Sacrificial life is a life laid down for the services of God. Serve God with passion. What this generation is lacking is the spirit of sacrifice, patriotism dying for our Lord, our land and our children,” he said.

Apostle Dr. Markin quoted various Bible texts including Mark 7:25, Mark 20:45; Mathew 14:23 Romans 12:4 and 2 Corinthians 12:11, and called on Christian leaders to walk in spiritual and moral integrity, adding that they can only do so if they learn at the feet of Jesus.

He congratulated the members for their participation, saying, “In this time of perverse teaching, it is good to be at the feet of Jesus.”

According to the Evangelism Director, the feet of Jesus is a place of learning as too many people are getting distracted, “The Lord Jesus is our only true example. Many people are lost in this life, sinking very fast because they have lost their gaze on Jesus; like Peter on the sea, our only standard is Jesus, fix your gaze on him,” he added.

“The only reason for your life is Jesus. Sitting at his feet daily, he has an answer to every problem. Jesus taught his disciples successful living on earth and hereafter, how to be great leaders and great people. He taught his disciples truth which transformed them and can transform us,” he stated.

Quoting Hebrews 11:4, he said Cain’s offering was rejected because the Lord rejected him before rejecting his offering. “Sacrifices call for offering, and God always accepts a person first before his offering,” he said.

“Abel, on the other hand, was accepted because he offered a more excellent sacrifice. God always wants us to offer excellent sacrifices,” he added.

According to Apostle Dr. Markin, promotion always comes through sacrifices and that God demands Christians to sacrifice their entire lives.

Speaking at the opening session of the convention on Monday, October 14, the Resident Minister, Pastor Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng, said that Jesus was a man of time and a man of movement. He knew when to move and when to act.

Pastor Kwarteng also quoted Mark 7:25, Mathew 15:21-28 and explained that the Syria-Phoenician woman whose daughter was possessed by demons fell at the feet of Jesus. He said even though the woman had setbacks, her request was granted.

According to him, Mary Magdalene also poured expensive perfume at the feet of Jesus, knowing what the Lord had done for her.
