The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono was privileged to be one of the two churches nominated by the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost to host and launch the 2018 Bible Week celebration on Sunday, February 4, 2018, under the theme: “The Bible And Our Civic Responsibilities.”

Reading from Romans 13:3-10, 1 John 4: 20, Deuteronomy 15, 1 Peter 2: 7-17, Pastor Dr. Samuel Adama Larmie, the former President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, admonished Christians to endeavour to be responsible citizens by eschewing hatred, envy, pilfering at the workplace and in the church, littering of the environment with both liquid and solid waste.

Pastor Larmie also encouraged Christians to love one another irrespective of their status, background and level of education.

“It’s your civic responsibility as well as your spiritual responsibility to respect the leaders in the church,” he said. He further entreated Christians to endeavour to make the family the basic unit of the church by relating well with its members to achieve harmony which will affect the church, society and the nation at large.

The Bible Society of Ghana was presented with a cheque amount of GH¢2,000 by Elder Felix Adu, the District Finance Chairman of PIWC-Sakumono, to assist the organisation to continue with its good works of translating the Bible into different local dialects to make it accessible to all.

Receiving the donation, Mrs Efua Ghartey, the Chairman of the Bible Society of Ghana and President of the Greater Accra Regional Branch of the Ghana Bar Association, thanked The Church of Pentecost and the congregation for the warm reception accorded them and for the donation.

The Resident Minister, Pastor Jonathan Kofie, also thanked the Bible Society of Ghana for fellowshipping at PIWC-Sakumono and sharing the word of God with the congregation.
