Missions Office Commences Training For Newly Appointed Missionaries

The International Missions Directorate of The Church of Pentecost Headquarters has commenced training for newly appointed missionaries.

The programme which commenced on Monday, June 3, is expected to end on Friday, June 7, 2019. Among the participants are newly posted ministerial formation students, Area Heads, Youth Pastors, Travelling Secretaries and their wives assigned to Mission Areas of the Church, and newly called missionaries.

In his opening address, the International Missions Director (IMD), Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, stated that the annual programme was designed to adequately prepare missionaries for their missiological calling to avoid personal biases and ethnocentrism.

He encouraged the participants to count themselves blessed to have been called into a venture which is core to the heart of God.

Lessons learnt on the first day of the training included Ethnographic Research for Missionaries (Pastor George Prah Amonoo, former Personal Assistant to IMD), Biblical Perspective of Missions (Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Anim, Principal of the Pentecost Theological Seminary), The Missionary and His Health (Dr. Perez Sepenu) and Growing Young – Strategies to Help Young People Discover and Love Your Church (Apostle David Nyansah Hayfron (Youth Director).

Other lessons expected to be covered in the course of week are: Building on the Foundation of Christ (Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, IMD), Personal Spiritual Growth of the Missionary (Apostle J.K. Assabil); Experiences and Lessons from a Missionary’s Wife (Mrs Elizabeth Gyesi-Addo, wife of IMD); The Missionary as an Agent of Transformation (Elder Dr. Chris Ampadu, Lecturer at Pentecost University College), Accounting and Reporting (Mrs Victotoria Kumi-Woode and Deaconess Ruth Adjabeng of Missions Office.

Other topics to be covered will include: Interpersonal Relationships and Conflict Resolutions; Mission among Muslims; Power Evangelism, Cross Cultural Church Planting/ Vision 2023, Preparing to Travel, among others.

It is expected that the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, will join the training in the course of the week.
