Pupils of Sabuli M/A KG and Primary School in the Lawra Area of The Church of Pentecost are set to enjoy improved classroom conditions following a donation of furniture and textbooks valued at GH¢22,850 by the Sabuli District, ending years of learning for some pupils on bare floors.
The presentation was made on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the school premises. The items included 32 dual desks, 10 hexagonal tables, 60 chairs and 60 textbooks to support teaching and learning, particularly at Kindergarten One (KG1), Kindergarten Two (KG2) and Basic One.
The intervention addresses a longstanding shortage of classroom furniture at the school, where inadequate seating arrangements had affected pupils’ learning experiences.
The furniture was fully financed by two benevolent individuals—a woman and her mother—who chose to remain anonymous. They also provided materials for sewing school uniforms for 100 pupils in the community. The cost of the uniform materials, as well as that of other educational interventions, was not included in the GH¢22,850 donation value.
At the ceremony, the Sabuli District Minister, Overseer Ebenezer Enyinful, announced the availability of the uniform materials to support the beneficiaries.
Beyond the intervention at Sabuli M/A KG and Primary School, the District distributed 1,400 exercise books to pupils in Borboor, Goziire and Gbare. The distribution formed part of an earlier initiative to provide 5,000 exercise books to schools across the district. The cost of these books was also excluded from the furniture and textbook donation value.
Addressing the gathering, the Lawra Area Head, Pastor Michael Awuni, expressed appreciation to participants for their presence, describing it as an expression of love and unity. Drawing from John 3:16, he explained that God’s gift of Jesus Christ demonstrated the depth of His love for humanity and offered salvation and eternal life.
Pastor Awuni said the intervention reflected the Church’s concern for the welfare of the community. He encouraged parents, guardians and other stakeholders to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and become actively involved in the life of the Church.
The School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for the Sabuli Circuit, Mr Daniel Angsogra, commended the Church for responding to a pressing educational need. He explained that furniture shortages remained a challenge in the circuit, with some pupils sharing desks designed for two among three or four learners, while others sat on the floor.
According to him, these conditions could affect pupils’ handwriting, concentration, health and dignity. He expressed confidence that the donation would improve the learning environment and assured the Church and its benefactors that the items would be put to good use. He also called for sustained collaboration between the Church and the Ghana Education Service.
A former District Chief Executive of Jirapa, Hon. Bernard Puozine, also commended The Church of Pentecost and Overseer Enyinful for their contributions to community development, encouraging the District Minister to sustain the initiatives.
Presenting the items to Mr Angsogra for onward delivery to the school authorities, Pastor Awuni said the gesture aligned with the Church’s Vision 2028, which seeks to unleash the whole Church to transform society with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God.
Also present was Pastor Stephen Okorie Asante, the Jirapa District Minister and a member of the Lawra Area Executive Committee, alongside traditional leaders, school staff, community leaders and residents of Sabuli and neighbouring communities.
