Keep Your Focus On Jesus – Apostle Dr. Buertey Urges Christians

The Resident Minister of Pentecost International Worship Centre, Asokwa (PIWC-Asokwa), Apostle Dr. Ignatius Joseph Teye Buertey, has urged Christians to prioritise keeping their attention on Jesus as they navigate their spiritual journey.

He made this call during his sermon at the burial and memorial service held in honour of Mr. John Kwasi Ofori, the father of Pastor Godwin Nana Ofori (South Sudan National Head), on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the PIWC-New Tafo auditorium.

The service, which was officiated by Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey (Asokwa Area Head), had in attendance active and retired ministers of the Church including Apostle James Oko-Barnor (Uganda National Head), Apostle Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng (Nigeria National Head), Prophet Fred Antwi (Duayaw Nkwanta Area Head), among others.

Speaking on the topic, “Run the Race, Finish Your Course,” based on Hebrews 12:1, Apostle Dr. Buertey likened Christian journey to a race, stressing the significance of staying focused on the ultimate goal, just as runners fix their eyes on the prize.

He said that Christians are fortunate to have received Jesus Christ, who was the promise of God that believers of the past had hoped for and anticipated but could not find (Hebrews 11:39-40). This alone, he said, should be sufficient impetus for Christians to commit themselves fully to the work of God. He, therefore, encouraged the congregation to persevere through challenges and obstacles, striving to complete their course faithfully to receive an incorruptible crown.

To work diligently and achieve success in their spiritual race, Apostle Dr. Ignatius Joseph Buertey advised Christians to avoid distractions and endure hardships in pursuit of the crown.

He also emphasised the importance of supporting and encouraging fellow believers during tough times to prevent anyone from falling behind in their journey.

Mr. John Kwasi Ofori, aged 75, is survived by a wife, Deaconess Faustina Ofori, and five children.
