The Chairman of the National Music Committee of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel K. Dekpor, has urged church musicians, worship leaders and instrumentalists to intentionally harness music as a powerful tool for mission and transformation.

He made the call during a National Music Seminar organised by the National Music Committee in collaboration with the Axim Area at the Emmanuel Assembly in Esiama on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The event formed part of efforts to equip musicians and music ministry workers for the Church’s Possessing the Nations and Transformation agenda.

Speaking on the theme, “Harnessing Music for Mission: A Theological, Cultural and Practical Framework for Church Transformation,” Apostle Dekpor described music as “theology in melody,” explaining that the depth of a church’s theology is often reflected in the songs it sings.

“The theology of every church is largely embedded in its songs. Any church that sings shallow songs will eventually produce shallow believers,” he stated, urging worship leaders to select songs that communicate sound biblical truths and suit the occasion.

He stressed that music is not merely an accompaniment to mission but a vehicle through which the Church advances its mission. According to him, contextualised music strengthens evangelism and discipleship, while music that is not understood weakens the Church’s impact.

Apostle Dekpor also encouraged musicians to deepen their spiritual lives through prayer, fasting and the study of God’s Word. He further reminded participants that musicians and instrumentalists are co-ministers of the gospel and not performers, urging them to remain authentic in their ministry.

Commending the Axim Area for prioritising the training of young musicians, he noted that such efforts align with the Church’s vision of raising the next generation of effective music ministers.

In his remarks, the Axim Area Head, Apostle Daniel Mireku Gyamera, expressed appreciation to the National Music Committee Chairman for the impactful training and assured that the lessons would be replicated across districts in the Area.

The seminar attracted 305 participants, including ministers and their wives, chorus leaders, instrumentalists, sound engineers and other music ministry workers.
