Goka Prayer Centre Gets New Leadership

A new Management Team has been constituted for the Goka Prayer Centre of The Church of Pentecost in the Bono Region. The management team was inaugurated by the Berekum Area Head of the church, Apostle Samuel Berko, last Friday (November 4, 2022).

Speaking at the event on the title, “Building a Church That Can Last” – Nehemiah 4:3, Apostle Berko admonished officers and members of the church to consciously build a church that can last. He compared building the church to building the walls of Jerusalem by Nehemiah.

According to him, just as Nehemiah and the builders of the walls of Jerusalem had critics, enemies of progress and ‘nay-sayers’ against their divine assignment, so does the Church have people waiting to see the failure of it.

“Many churches began well, yet they cannot be found today,” he pointed out. He said that this is the reason why Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah (a former Chairman of the church) was so concerned about the future of the church as he was often quoted as saying, “Asore yi daamba.”

For Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah (the immediate past Chairman of the church), he noted, also consciously advocated and moved leadership towards building the church to impact future generations.

The Berekum Area Head added that looking into the future, Apostle Eric Nyamekye (the current Chairman) often says that the Church goes beyond singing and dancing, rather, “the Church is a community of holy people walking in love to possess the nations for Christ.”

Apostle Berko emphasised that to build a Church that will last to impact generations to possess nations for Christ, the entire members should have the following attitudes: carefully and diligently building upon the solid and firm foundation laid by Christ just as James McKeown and the founding fathers did; the Church should be able to solve problems of people and communities; the Church must outlive the current generation, and that leaders and members should desist from acts that can destroy the Church before or after they have left the scene; and finally, leaders and members should always look into the future to build for the benefit of generations unborn.

The new Prayer Centre Management Team comprises Pastor Evans Kwadwo Brenya (Goka District Pastor of the church), Elder George Okyere (Prayer Centre Leader), Deacon Jacob Twene (Secretary), Elder Isaac Kwaku Boadi (Member) and Elder Samuel Ablorh (Member), with the Area Head as an ex-officio member.

Under the divine counsel of the Executive Council of the Church, chaired by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the management team led by Elder Joe Daah has been reviewed.

Present at the inauguration were the Area Executive Committee members, the Pastorate in Berekum Area and Goka District Presbytery.
