Discipleship Begins From The Home – Dr. Ernie Frey

A global trainer and Christian discipleship expert, Dr. Ernie Frey, has called on Christians to begin their discipleship in the home to secure a generation that will continue to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Frey who is the founder of the African Strategic Discipleship Movement (ASDM) said that, God who designed the universe including mankind is interested in how men and women design their homes to fulfill their mission and purpose on earth.

Dr. Frey was speaking at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC-Sakumono) on Sunday, May 26, 2019 on the topic, “Designer God, Designer Home.”

Rev. Ernie Frey was in Ghana for an ASDM training programme hosted by The Church of Pentecost. He was accompanied by his wife Anne and the last of his three daughters, Ms. Madison.

He urged men in the church to build prayer altars in their homes and ensure the sustainability of the fire on the altar.

“Many ministers and church leaders are busy taking care of their assignments without paying attention to what is happening in their homes and the upbringing of their children,” he stressed.

He said that, in order to be an effective disciple, men must lead in making sure that the fire on the altar keeps burning. He also explained that, the husband-wife role depicts the leadership of Jesus. “The best days of parenting are not behind us but ahead of us,” he added.

Mrs. Anne Frey, on her part, stated: “Discipleship means invite your children, invest in them and ignite the passion of Christ in them so we can pass on the baton.”

She encouraged Christian women to go deep in their walk with the Lord. She defined the acronym “DEEP” as: “Doing Everyday Events Purposefully.”

“We must remember to work purposely throughout the day keeping discipleship in mind,” Mrs. Frey urged women.

Ms. Madison Frey, one of the three daughters of Rev & Mrs. Frey, quoted Mathew 5:14-16 and encouraged children to serve as light for the world.

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gakpetor, who works closely with the Movement on behalf of The Church of Pentecost, said delegates from different countries in Africa were in Ghana to strategize for effective discipleship on the continent.

He said Dr. Frey greatly desires to equip leaders with the true word of God. He added that, Rev. Dr. Frey also believes that discipleship has the potential of greatly accelerating the fulfillment of the Great Commission which is also a focal area for The Church of Pentecost.

The Resident Minister for PIWC-Sakumono, Pastor Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng, was grateful to Apostle Gakpetor and his team for their visit.

The African Strategic Discipleship has been working in Africa for many years. In 2013, the Movement brought 90 African leaders from 24 countries and 50 denominations to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the purpose of mobilizing a movement of discipleship in all nations.
