The Aflao Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo, has encouraged Christians who are struggling in life to remain steadfast in the Lord no matter the situation they find themselves in. 

According to the Area Head, the workings of God might seem invisible but in the fullest of time, His works and goodwill toward His people shall be revealed. 

Apostle Agyen Brefo said this recently during the Area Women’s Ministry Joint Service held at Shekinah Temple, Aflao as part of the Area’s 40 Days Rehoboth Fasting and Prayer programme. Also in attendance were the Area Head’s wife, Mrs Ophelia Brefo, and some District Ministers and their wives. 

Speaking to the topic, “From slavery to palace,” with scripture reference from Esther 2:4-9,Apostle Brefoindicated that God’s providential care comes at the right time and in His own way. He added that even though God’s name was never mentioned in the Book of Esther, God still worked behind the scenes and revealed His glory.

He stated that Esther, whose Hebrew name was Hadassah, was a slave girl whose parents had died and was in the care of her uncle, Mordecai. Even though her name was changed to Esther (in Chaldean), God still changed her destiny and fulfilled His purposes in her life, saying, “As an orphan, slave and alien, she was limited by name, background, economic situation and class, but she became the queen of Persia because of God’s favour.”

He added: “Our struggles and our past don’t determine our future. What determines our future are the promises of God and His word.

 “No amount of limitation can stop the deposit of God in you; it doesn’t matter the names and perceptions of people concerning your life. Once you determine in your mind that your past or background is not a prophecy to your future but is in the hand of God, you shall surely succeed.” 

Referencing Psalm 84:11-12 and Ephesians 3:20, he added that God can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that believers can think of.

To him, the most important thing Christians should do is to yearn for favour from above.  Unfortunately, he said, many Christians belittle God by doubting His capabilities.

“Our God is a game-changer and a life-transforming God. He is able to do for His people things their eyes have not seen or heard with their ears or things that have not come into their minds (1 Corinthians 2:9-10),” he said.

He added: “The more a Christian prays, the more he gets closer to his destiny.”

Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo prayed that God who is the lifter of the head of the downcast will surprise His people by lifting them to higher grounds.

The atmosphere at the service was euphoric due to the presence of the Holy Spirit and His workings among His people during the word ministration and prayer. Participants were visibly touched by the power of God.

The Women’s Ministry and the Virtuous Ladies wing of Kaneshie Estate Assembly in the North Kaneshie District of The Church of Pentecost on Saturday, December 3, 2022, donated some items to the Gynaecology department of the Kaneshie Polyclinic in the Okaikoi South Constituency.

The items donated include toiletries, a brand-new refrigerator, bedsheets, trash bins, disinfectants, locally-made soaps, napkins and tissues. 

The church delegation that made the presentation was led by the District Minister, Pastor David Oppong, his wife, Cecilia and the Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Diana Bekoe.

Prior to the donation, the Church also undertook an extensive clean-up exercise in the health facility. They also prayed for the patients and staff of the hospital.

The donation and clean-up exercise form part of the effort to give back to society and “share the love of Christ” to all.

In a related development, the group undertook a street evangelism exercise within the Kaneshie township close to the church premises.

Virtuous Ladies of the New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost have organised a food bazaar as part of the activities to invigorate the ministry and to sharpen the cooking skills of the members.

The event, which took place on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the M. K. Yeboah Memorial Temple, Krofrom, was a showcase of locally prepared dishes such as “Akankyeɛ,” “Kɔkɔɔtɔ,” “Aprapransa,” among others.

Speaking at the event, the wife of the Area Head, Mrs. Victoria Tetteh Doku, who was the guest of honour, admonished the virtuous ladies to portray good manners to define their relationship with Christ for others to see them as genuine Christians.

According to her, the attitude of a Christian is an instrument of evangelism. She, therefore, urged the participants to sidestep discourteous behaviours and uphold the virtues of kindness, purity, humility and other noble and impressive lifestyles as contained in Philippians 4:8 to glorify God.

On her part, Mrs. Mary Arthur (Wife of the Resident Minister, PIWC-New Tafo) educated the ladies on their personal hygiene, stressing on menstruation. She sensitised that poor menstrual hygiene can pose serious health risks like reproductive and urinary tract infections, which can result in infertility and birth complications. She, thus, encouraged them to practice good hygiene and adopt a good eating habit to stay safe.

Varieties of the local foods displayed by the various districts were inspected by Mrs. Victoria Tetteh Doku, with assistance from the Area Women’s Ministry Executive Committee Members and Virtuous Ladies Coordinators.

Present at the event were the spouses of the Area pastorate.

The Women’s Ministry of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Sakumono, has embarked on a Chaplaincy/Evangelism outreach to the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf, located at Adjei Kojo, near Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, was part of the aggressive evangelism embarked on by the church in November.

The Resident Minister for PIWC-Sakumono, Pastor Solomon Kwasi Kyei, who accompanied the women encouraged the students not to look at their limitations in life but to serve the Lord in any capacity they can.

He read from 1 Samuel 7:9 and urged the students to know that the Lord is with them in every endeavour of their lives and that the Lord will cut off all those who are against them and make their names great.

On her part, the District Women’s Ministry Leader for PIWC-Sakumono, Deaconess Isabella Gyau Orhin, admonished the students to see the God Almighty as their helper.

“Everybody needs a helper: Parents help children and older siblings also assist younger ones,” she said, adding, “Our greatest helper is God, he loves us and wants to help us from our sins.”

Deaconess Orhin read from Isaiah 54:10, Psalm 3:3, and Hebrews 13:6, among other scriptures, and encouraged the students not to be afraid but to hold on and rely on God who is their refuge and strength and ever-present help in times of trouble.

According to the headmaster of the school, Mr Isaac Arthur, the school has been in existence since 1965. It was previously located in Osu and since 2000, it moved to its current location, Adjei Kojo, he said.

Mr Arthur indicated that the founder of the school, Dr. Seth Lawrence Tetteh-Ocloo, was the first deaf African to graduate from the university and founded the Ghana National Association of the Deaf.

He thanked the leadership of the church for the kind gesture. He, however, asked for more visitation and support in terms of food items for the students.

The state school for the deaf is purely a government boarding school with about 330 students. Some of them have multiple disabilities aside from being deaf. In all, the school has about 41 teachers who teach from lower primary to junior high and vocational departments such as hairdressing, carpentry, Information Communication Technology, Kente weaving, and catering services, among others.

The Nkawkaw Nsuta District Women’s Ministry in the Nkawkaw Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated assorted items worth about GHC 10,000.00 to the Blessed Care Happy Home Orphanage at Kwahu Nkwatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Accompanied by the District Minister, Pastor Edmond Yorke Sackey, and his wife, Remina, the women handed over various food items, toiletries, drinks, as well as new and used-clothing to officials of the Home during a visit on September 21, 2022.

They also presented an amount of GHC 500.00 to the Home to support the upkeep of the children.

In an exhortation, the District Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Lucy Asamoah, quoted Psalm 46:1-5 and Psalm 3:3 to encourage the children to see God as their ultimate helper and the source of their daily provision. 

“It is God who touches the hearts of the people who come here to help you. Therefore, do not think that your help is from them but God,” she said. 

The District Pastor also urged them to live a life worthy of emulation so they would become responsible and good adults in society and the world.

Receiving the items, the head of the Home, Rev. Jeremiah Yeboah, thanked the Ministry for the support.

Pastor Yorke Sackey prayed for both the caretakers and the children asking God to intervene in their spiritual, academic, health, emotional and physiological lives.

The children expressed joy and appreciation to God and the Church through song ministrations.

The Blessed Care Happy Home Orphanage currently houses 40 children, some of whom are now in tertiary institutions.

The annual spirit-filled Virtuous Ladies Conference, which is aimed at equipping young ladies in the Achimota Area of The Church of Pentecost, with godly wisdom and life skills to possess the nations has been held.

This year’s edition was held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Achimota Central Auditorium, under the theme: “Visionary Lady, Now is The Time to Live For Christ.”

Participating in the conference were members from all the Districts and Worship Centres within the Area, with song ministrations from Javana, Deaconess Eunice Akuffo and D’Afrifa Brothers.

Speaking on the topic, “Preparing for Life,” with Ecclesiastes 12:1and Genesis 34:1-8 as scriptural readings, a former National Executive Committee Member of the Women’s Ministry, Mrs Mabel Darko, entreated every young lady to make good use of their time judiciously.

“You may not be paying bills today, because you live with a parent, a sibling or a guardian.  But in life no condition is permanent, that is why you must prepare yourself for the future,” she said, adding, “Sometimes change comes unexpectedly where your parents could divorce, or guardians may lose their jobs or die.”

She encouraged participants to build their faith in only God and not their parents or friends, because God is reliable during moments of difficulties and hard times.

She further advised young women to build healthy social networks, develop good human relationships and endeavour to learn a skill when they are on vacation or during their leisure time.

“Learn to save money, dress decently, practice good hygiene and pursue a career you are passionate about, and God will bless your efforts,” she admonished. 

The 2021 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) Winner, Ms. Benedicta Sarfoa Asamoah, on her part, encouraged young ladies to live a holy life while using their God-given talents.  She made biblical references from 2 Timothy 2:15 and Proverbs 3:13-14.

“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort and practicing what you say. Always study to show yourself approve and don’t let opportunities pass by you because of people’s perception,” she stated.

Using her own life story as an example, the GMB Queen encouraged young ladies to eschew low self-esteem, and inferiority complex and always see themselves as God sees them.

“Womanhood is not for barter trade. Keep yourself for God and trust Him to provide all your needs for you,” Ms. Asamoah asserted.

She charged them to forget their past mistakes which suppresses their talents and urged them to be truthful to themselves.

Deaconess Esther Jones Safo, the Achimota Area Women’s Ministry Leader, on behalf of the Ministry thanked the Area Head, Apostle David Tettey Tekper, and his wife, Mrs.  Matilda Tekper for their immense support in making the Conference a successful one.

Also, present at the Conference were Deaconess Mavis Tobbin, Achimota District Virtuous Ladies Coordinator and other Virtuous Ladies District Coordinators within the Achimota Area.

The Ashanti-Bekwai Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has held a day’s empowerment conference dubbed, “All-Women’s Conference.”

The event, which was under the theme: “The Power of a Prayerful Woman,‟ took place on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Bekwai-Amoafo church auditorium. It was attended by ministers’ wives and women from the 21 districts in the Area.

The guest speaker, Pastor Seth Ansah of Nampansa District, in his presentation said that the power and potency of prayer can never be underestimated because it is the livewire of every believer.

“It produces the needed power to overcome anything that seems impossible. With prayer one moves God to do what at times He is not willing to do,” he said.

He indicated that prayer serves as a reminder to believers as well as a declaration to the enemy.

Pastor Ansah also noted that the prayerful woman is fearful, spiritually dangerous, untouchable, unbreakable and ever succeeding.

He added that a prayerful woman enjoys divine favour and always abound in grace.

“She is a wonderful woman to behold. Her children, family and friends are delighted to have her as their mother, wife, sister, daughter and even as a friend or church member. She can fit into any circumstance and can deal with any situation that confronts her regardless of the challenges at that moment,” he added.

The Nampansa District Minister stated that passion, discipline and determination are the ingredients that drives and sustains a consistent prayer life.

He concluded by saying that “what constitute a prayerful woman is a woman who knows when to pray, how to pray and what to pray.”

After the presentation, Pastor Ansah led the congregation in a time of intensive prayer where there was a great demonstration of the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit.

The Sefwi-Juaboso Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost yesterday donated some items to the Juaboso District Hospital as part of activities for the “Juaboso for Christ” crusade.

The items were presented to management and staff of the hospital by a church delegation led by the Area Head, Evangelist Shadrach Ohene-Asa Otu, at a short presentation ceremony held at the hospital premises.

The church delegation included Deaconess Mary Ampah (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), Mrs. Beatrice Ohene-Asa Otu (Wife of the Area Head) and the area pastorate. Also present was the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Juaboso, Hon. Godfred Kwabena Agyei Asante.

The donation comprised gallons of detergents, liquid soap, sanitisers, mops, sweeping brushes, bedspreads, packs of bottled water, toiletries, children’s cots, baby wipes, diapers and a basket full of oranges. 

Evangelist Ohene-Asa Otu, in his remarks, said that the donation is in line with the “Possessing the Nations” agenda of the Church aimed at influencing every sphere of society with principles and values of the Kingdom of God.

He commended the medical officers for their dedicated service to the people of Juaboso. He advised them not to seek transfers to other well-endowed districts in the country but rather contribute their quota in building the Juaboso District.

He assured them of the Church’s continued support and was hopeful that the donation would go a long way to aid their operations.

Mrs. Sertina Alipo, the Juaboso District Health Director, praised the Church for their continuous efforts to impact society through charitable acts. She also lauded the church leadership for helping to demystify the conspiracies surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines and encouraging Church members and the general public to be vaccinated.

She also thanked the Church for the donation and appealed for more support to better serve the health needs of patients.

The Senior Medical Superintendent at the hospital, Dr. Solomon Ayiah, was particularly impressed by the Church’s willingness to extend support to the hospital despite the current economic challenges in the country.

“This must have taken a lot of sacrifice. Indeed, words cannot say how much grateful we are to you for this gesture,” he said.

As part of the visit, the hospital management took the church delegation on a tour around the facility to assess firsthand the challenges faced by the hospital and how they could come to their aid.

The church delegation also prayed for patients and staff of the hospital.

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, led by Deaconess Belinda Asumadu, has organised a three-day retreat for ministry executive committee members at the various levels in the Area. 

The event, held under the theme: “Ideal Woman, Arise and Possess Your Spheres,” took place at The Church of Pentecost Prayer Centre, Agape, from October 13 to 15, 2022. Speakers of the event were Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye (Area Head), his wife, Mrs. Comfort Ohemeng-Kwakye, Pastor Jacob Asare (Amamorley District Minister) and Pastor Emmanuel Teye Sackitey (Anyaa District Minister).

Other speakers were Deaconess Margaret Osei (Immediate-past Women’s Ministry Deputy Director, The Church of Pentecost) and Deaconess Charity Korwonu (Tema Area Women’s Ministry Leader).

Speaking on the topic: “The Woman and Her Ministry” on the first day of the event, Mrs. Comfort Ohemeng-Kwakye, emphasised that ministry is service and to understand one’s ministry, the individual must first identify their gift. 

She revealed that a woman eager to serve must have constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit for renewal of strength. 

Mrs. Ohemeng-Kwakye charged the leaders to exhibit maturity in their leadership since it takes a mature leader to raise members to be mature. 

She, therefore, advised them to pray earnestly and yearn for the anointing since that makes the difference. 

Mrs. Margaret Osei, in turn, spoke on the topic: “Leadership Skills.” In her presentation, she said a leader is one who has authority to direct a group of people. 

According to her, God has given women various ministries or offices to serve according to their abilities (Matthew 25:11-15). 

“Leaders are responsible for taking care of God’s people with unselfish devotion, and they must be determined, bold and courageous because there will be oppositions,” she cautioned.

Touching on qualities of a good leader, Mrs Margaret Osei mentioned that women in leadership ought to be visionary, innovative, self-motivated, able to unite, forgiving and strategic. 

Deaconess Charity Kuwornu also educated the participants on the various personalities and how they influence on one’s leadership. 

She explained that personality is the intrinsic organisation of a person’s mental wealth that is stable over time and consistent over situations. 

Her presentation highlighted the various personality traits, which include: Neuroticism, Extra Version, Openness to Experience, Introversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. 

She also mentioned “Border Line Personality,” “Histrionic Personality,” “Narcissist Personality,” “Paranoid Personality,” “Schizoid Personality,” “Avoidant Personality,” and “Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder” as some of the personality disorders that leaders must eschew at all cost in order to successful.

She, however, emphasised that, irrespective of the differences in personalities, they must be faithful and honest in delivering their duties as Christian leaders. 

Participants were also schooled on the four temperaments (Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic and Phlegmatic) by Pastor Jacob Asare, whilst Pastor Emmanuel Teye Sackitey handled the topic “Strengthening Our Spiritual Gifts and the Fruits of the Spirit.”

Climaxing the retreat, Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye spoke on the topic: “Effective Collaboration Between the Minister’s Wife and the Women’s Ministry Leader” using Matthew 18:19-20; Amos 3:3 and Titus 2:3-5 as his anchor texts.

In his presentation, he explained the similarities and differences in the role of the Minister’s Wife and the Women’s Ministry Leader, and charged both parties to respect each other and show the spirit of unity which exemplifies Christ. 

In all, 480 participants, including 17 ministers’ wives and eight pastors, attended the retreat.
