Jesus Is The Accredited Saviour Of The World – Apostle Nyamekye Declares

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has declared that Jesus Christ is the only accredited saviour of the world.

He made this declaration on Sunday, December 29, 2024, during the climax of the 2024 Christmas convention at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Atomic in Accra.

Speaking on the topic, ‘What is it?’ Apostle Nyamekye cited several biblical references to address people’s curiosity about who Jesus is. He established that Jesus is the only accredited saviour of the world.

He emphasised the necessity for Christians to guard Christmas, which is being opposed by some groups due to its Christian foundation. He noted that Christmas is a period where believers remember the basis of their faith and proclaim Jesus as the Saviour.

Referencing Exodus 16:1-16, he illustrated how the Israelites, upon leaving Egypt and entering the wilderness, God provided them with food and water when they were in dire need of it. He noted that God’s provision of bread prompted them to ask, ‘What is this?’

According to him, the bread was not merely for their physical needs but the sustenance of their entire lives and how the word of God would govern them.

Apostle Nyamekye also discussed a scenario from John 6:30-42, where people questioned Jesus’ identity as He claimed to be ‘the bread of life.’ He pointed out that from His birth to His death and even today, people continue to wonder about who Jesus is. He mentioned that even Joseph was confused about whether to keep Mary or divorce her quietly.

To answer the question ‘Who is this man (Jesus)?’ he referenced Colossians 1:15-20, affirming that Jesus is God and preexists all things; in Him, all things hold together.
He added that if Jesus resides within someone, then both the Holy Spirit and God are also present in them.

He also cited Acts 17:31-32 to assert that Jesus is indeed the only accredited Savour of the world and that no other religious leader can claim such a status.

Jesus Is Saviour From Birth – Elder Atsrim Asserts

The Presiding Elder of the Mount Olive Worship Centre in the Odorkor Area of The Church of Pentecost and Global Editorial Team lead of the Pent Media Centre, Elder Felix Atsrim, has indicated that Jesus Christ was declared the saviour of the world before His birth.

He said this on Friday, December 27, 2024, during the district’s 2024 Christmas convention.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Saviour is Born,’ with biblical reference from Luke 2:8-14, Elder Atsrim explained that even though no child can be given an actual title of kingship from birth, the story of Jesus is different because He was declared saviour at birth.

He indicated that the birth of Jesus is more than just a historical event; it represents a moment of divine goodwill and salvation that extends to all humanity.

According to hum, ‘when Jesus was born, he carried the whole embodiment of our salvation,’ highlighting that peace was introduced to the world through His arrival.

He noted that Jesus role as Saviour began at birth, saying, ‘Jesus was a saviour at birth, during His life on earth, in death and after resurrection in heaven.’

Elder Atsrim reminded believers that Jesus’ mission on Earth remains active and continuous, providing a chance for forgiveness and renewal for all.

He emphasised that the gospel message is relevant not only to those who are yet to accept Christ but also to believers and those who have strayed from their faith.

KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS REFOCUSING THE CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS ON THE PERSON AND BIRTH OF JESUS web

Keeping Christ In Christmas: Refocusing The Celebration Of Christmas On The Person And Birth Of Jesus

The Christmas season in December is filled with gatherings, greetings, singing, and festivities. The celebration is often depicted with images of trees, Santa Claus, wrapped gifts, and songs about bells, snow, and trees. However, the Cambridge Dictionary defines Christmas as “a Christian holy day that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.” This definition highlights the disparity between the commercialised portrayal of Christmas and its true meaning.

This article argues that the celebration of Christmas should be refocused on the person and birth of Jesus Christ in its significance, images/decor, songs, and greetings. Father Christmas should give way to Baby Jesus; Christmas conventions and carol services should take centre stage instead of shopping and partying. Songs like “Long Time Ago in Bethlehem” and “Silent Night” should be sung instead of “Jingle Bells” and “O Christmas Tree.” Remember to say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Season’s Greetings” or “Happy Holidays.”

Significance of Christmas

Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Saviour of the world. Activities marking His birth and its significance as God’s greatest gift to humanity should take centre stage. Events such as Christmas conventions, nine lessons and carols services at corporate, church, family, and individual levels should be organised and actively participated in. Emphasis should not be placed on shopping, eating, drinking, partying, and merrymaking.

Christmas Images and Decor

Images of Baby Jesus in a manger or receiving gifts from wise men should replace Santa Claus. Graphic designers should see it as their calling to help tell the Christmas story in a biblically correct way. The body of Christ should not be swayed by commercial images and designs that use Santa, trees, and gift boxes to drive sales. Christmas is not a sales event. Decorations should centre around Baby Jesus, just as the cross and the empty tomb are central to Easter.

Christmas Songs

It is surprising to hear so-called Christmas songs that do not mention Jesus or His birth. Popular songs like “Jingle Bells” and “O Christmas Tree” do not reference Jesus or the nativity. These songs should not be considered Christmas songs. Instead, songs that celebrate the birth of Jesus, such as “Long Time Ago in Bethlehem” and “Silent Night,” should be sung. These songs convey the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Christmas Greetings

Understanding the true meaning of Christmas should influence the greetings we use. “Merry Christmas” is an appropriate greeting. Secular greetings like “Happy Holidays” or “Season’s Greetings” are too vague and can be used at any time. “Fête de Noël” (Christmas Festival) is more appropriate than “fête de fin d’année” (end of year festival).

Conclusion

Keeping Christ in Christmas is essential to making the celebration meaningful. The focus should be on the person and birth of Jesus Christ in its significance, images/decor, songs, and greetings. Activities that celebrate the birth of Jesus, such as Christmas conventions and carol services, should be prioritised. Father Christmas should give way to Baby Jesus, and songs that celebrate His birth should be sung. Remember to say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Season’s Greetings” or “Happy Holidays.”

God’s Presence Remains Steadfast – Apostle Obuobi Assures Christians

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has assured believers of God’s presence in their lives even in times of trials, sufferings, and battles.

He made this remark on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Osu Central Auditorium of The Church of Pentecost during their 2024 Christmas Convention.

Delivering the sermon titled ‘Emmanuel – God With Us’, Apostle Obuobi emphasised that Christmas transcends mere merrymaking; it is a time to celebrate Jesus’ birth and reflect on its significance.

He referenced Matthew 1:21-23, highlighting the prophecy from Isaiah 7:14, which foretold the virgin birth of Jesus.

‘One of the unique things that sets Jesus apart is His virgin birth,’ he stated, adding, ‘Jesus was conceived without the intervention of man. This is a fact we cannot debate; it is the truth of the word of God.’

Elaborating on the meaning of ‘Emmanuel,’ which means ‘God with us,’ Apostle Obuobi highlighted the importance of recognising God’s constant presence in believers’ lives.

He cited Isaiah 41:10 to encourage the congregation, saying, ‘The believer must always walk in the confidence that God is always with them. We will not walk in fear of demons, witches, or any satanic powers.’

He further referenced Jesus’ promise in Matthew 28:20, assuring that God’s presence accompanies believers even in their darkest moments.

‘Even when we come face to face with death, He is with us,’ Apostle Obuobi affirmed, drawing from Psalm 23:4.

He reminded the faithful that God’s presence remains steadfast through trials and battles, as stated in Deuteronomy 20:1: ‘Life is sometimes full of wars and battles, but even if we are faced with enemies more sophisticated than we are, our God is always with us.’

Concluding his message, the General Secretary invoked Romans 8:31 to reassure believers of God’s diving protection: ‘Because God is with us, nobody can rise up or come against the child of God.’

He encouraged the congregation to embrace the true essence of Christmas by acknowledging and celebrating the ever-abiding presence of God in their lives.

Investment Is Key To True Financial Soundness – Deputy PEMEM Director

Elder Barima Acheampong Sarpong ll, the Deputy Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) of The Church of Pentecost, has called for a paradigm shift in financial management, urging individuals to invest rather than hoard their money.

Citing the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:26, where the master labelled the servant who did not invest his talent as ‘wicked and lazy,’ he stated, “Money must go into circulation; hoarding it is wickedness.”

Elder Sarpong ll made these remarks during the ‘Mmarima Nkommo’ on Pent Radio 100.1 MHz in Kumasi on Sunday, December 22, 2024. The programme, which airs Sundays from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, addresses issues relevant to men and family life.

In discussing “The Dos of the Laws of Money,” Elder Barima Sarpong ll, who is also the chief of Asamang in the Ashanti Region, shared insights on financial management, emphasising that money is not meant merely to be spent, but rather to be saved for investments.

“Savings are not meant to make you financially sound; the purpose of savings is for investment,” he stressed, urging listeners to adopt an investment mindset as a pathway to achieving true financial soundness.

He also pointed out that money is often found where solutions to problems exist, noting, “Where there is a problem, there is money.” He cautioned against becoming overly attached to money, saying, “Don’t allow money to control you. God expects us to control money because money influences character.”

In conclusion, Elder Barima Acheampong Sarpong ll distinguished between assets and liabilities, stating that asset can turn into a liability if it requires ongoing financial input without providing corresponding financial benefit.

Known in private life as Elder Ebenezer Acheampong, he is a former Acting Head of Procurement at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and Procurement Consultant in charge of World Bank-Funded Projects at MoFA.

He is also an entrepreneur, having established several companies, including Zeotec Limited,  Aca-City Farms, Pathos AIB Limited, Biazo Realtors, a real estate company; Pathos Agro Limited, and AFMREC, a natural resources research firm.

The Whole Duty Of Man Is To Obey God’s Commands – General Secretary Reveals

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has revealed that one of the two fundamental duties of humanity is to obey God’s commands.

He made this revelation at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), West Hills, Kasoa Area, during an apostolic visitation to the church in the company of his wife, Korkor, and children on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

He preached a powerful sermon titled, ‘The Whole Duty of Man,’ drawing his main text from Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

The chief scribe underscored humanity’s ultimate purpose—revering God and walking in total obedience to His word.

Apostle Oboubi began by emphasising that God’s commands are supreme and require complete obedience from believers, saying, ‘God does not want partial obedience but total submission to His word.’

He further explained that true spiritual maturity is not evidenced by outward displays of praise but by a consistent and resolute walk in obedience to God’s will.

The General Secretary also highlighted the life-sustaining power of Scripture, referencing Deuteronomy 32:45-47, which teaches that God’s word is not just idle but is life itself.

He urged the congregation to treasure the Scriptures as the foundation for righteous living and to diligently teach them to the next generation.

Drawing inspiration from Hebrews 1:1-3, Apostle Oboubi reminded the congregation that God has always spoken to His people, first through the prophets and now through His Son, Jesus Christ. He stressed the need for believers to listen to God’s voice and respond with love and obedience, as this is the clearest demonstration of one’s devotion to Him.

He addressed the challenge of prioritising religious activities over obedience. Quoting 1 Samuel 15:22-23, he reiterated that no religious ritual can substitute for obedience to God’s word.

‘To obey is better than sacrifice,’ he noted, challenging the Church to align its actions with God’s directives.

The service also featured a vibrant time of worship and fellowship.
