Pastor Joseph Ntoso Retires From Active Ministry

After serving God and The Church of Pentecost for 29 years, from 1995 to 2024, Pastor Joseph Anenyah Ntoso and his wife, Mrs. Epiphany Ntoso, successfully retired from active ministry on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

The service, held at the Central Assembly of the Juapong District in the Agormanya Area, was organised to honour the minister, whose ministerial journey took him to Ajakaa-Manso, Adansi-Asokwa, Tema-West, Sakumono, Atonsu Bokoro, Worawora, and finally Juapong.

Speaking at the event on the theme “Complete Your Mission,” Apostle Francis Yaw Adu, the Nsawam Area Head, encouraged the congregation to fulfill their mission.

Reading from Luke 13:20-32, Apostle Yaw Adu defined a mission as the specific objective or aim one seeks to attain.

He emphasised that every individual is created with a unique mission and that The Church of Pentecost exists to guide and assist each believer in their endeavor to fulfill that mission.

The Nsawam Area Head observed that the believer’s mission is holistic in nature and calls for the engagement of the whole person for a holistic witness of the living Christ.

He stressed that the call to holistic witness must be reflected in the workplace, modeled in the home, and evident in every sphere of life.

Apostle Adu noted that completing a divine mission comes with challenges, personified in the passage as “Herod, the King.” Among such challenges that hinder the fulfillment of a divine mission are hardship (2 Corinthians 11:28), dangers (2 Corinthians 11:24, 27), persecution, and spiritual warfare.

In concluding his message, he urged the congregation to “stay focused and stay on the mission (Proverbs 3:5-6), use God’s resources or warfare tools such as the Word of God and the Holy Spirit as a comforter, keep moving and trusting in God’s timing and power (Zechariah 4:6), be strategic in your mission, plan your mission, and consider mission a joyful enterprise.”

Reflecting on the ministry of Pastor Joseph Ntoso, the Agormanya Area Head, Apostle Dr. Samuel Gakpetor, encouraged the congregants to genuinely serve the Lord in every space or opportunity given and not to trivialize any opportunity.

Also in attendance were Apostle Patrick Aseyero (Suhum Area Head), Apostle Emmanuel Kojo Aidoo (Asamankese Area Head), and over 900 congregants, including ministers and their wives.

Be Conformed To The Image Of Christ – Pastor Akwaboah Advises Church Leaders

The outgoing Buokrom Estate District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Emmanuel Yaw Akwaboah, has advised Christians, particularly church leaders to model their lives, behaviours, attitudes, and values after that of Christ Jesus.

Pastor Yaw Akwaboah shared this advice during the 2024 Mid-Year Presbytery Meeting organised by the New Tafo Area on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the M. K. Yeboah Memorial Temple.

Speaking on the topic: “Unleashed To Be Like Christ To Transform Your World,” based on Romans 8:29-30, the clergyman emphasised that God’s people always stand out and take on the responsibility of reflecting Christ’s image. He explained that as individuals who are born of God, Christians are called to exemplify the character of God, just as Christ Jesus did during His time on earth.

Jesus’ life was a life of godly character; therefore, we should strive to be like Him in all realms of life,” he stated, quoting Luke 23:22.

Pastor Yaw Akwaboah underscored that Jesus exhibited qualities such as compassion, patience, humility (Matthew 11:29), obedience, purity, faithfulness, all while reaching out to sinners through the preaching of the Gospel, urging Christians to embody these traits in their efforts to transform their world.

He also encouraged the presbyters to mentor new converts and help them grow in the faith.

Highlighting the virtue of humility, the Buokrom Estate District Minister pointed out that God opposes the proud but offers grace to the humble, citing James 4:10 and illustrating this with the story of Jesus, who has been exalted and given a name above all names for His humility. He warned against the dangers of pride, asserting, “Your pride is your soon-to-come destruction.”

He stressed the need for Christians to rely solely on the Holy Spirit for strength to conform to the image of Christ at all times.

Pastor Emmanuel Yaw Akwaboah and family are scheduled to be farewelled on Sunday, August 11, 2024, as they proceed on transfer to Asonkore District in the Obuasi Area.

Among those present at the meeting were Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku and his wife, Mama Victoria (New Tafo Area Head), the Area pastorate and their spouses.

Don’t Joke With Prayer; The World Is Evil – Apostle Nyamekye Cautions

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has strongly admonished Christians not to relent on prayer.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, during morning devotion of the Head Office Management and Staff, the Chairman drew the attention of believers to the fact that the world is full of evil, and so they must never joke with their prayer life.

Apostle Nyamekye drew a vivid picture of how evil the world is by referencing Psalm 109, stressing that the devil usually attacks at a time when everything appears peaceful.

‘Prayerlessness can be a dangerous game which the Christian must not engage in,’ he cautioned.

The Chairman went on to explain that prayer neutralises the threats of the devil and his agents, and that Christians should put in effort to let their light shine at evil places to dispel darkness and the works of evil people.

Do Not Advertise What You Cannot Deliver – Apostle Dr Ami-Narh Cautions

The President of The Apostolic Church, Ghana, Apostle Dr Aaron Ami-Narh, has cautioned church leaders to live what they claim to be and not otherwise.

Speaking at the Ashanti Regional All Ministers’ Conference held at the Bompata Central auditorium of The Church of Pentecost on Friday, Apostle Dr Ami-Narh challenged the Christian community to reflect on their true impact on society.

He asked why 71% of the population was Christians, and yet the country had remained the same.

“If 71% of Christians cannot change the nation, what will the 29% do?” He asked the church to look at its authenticity and effectiveness.

Drawing lessons from Mark 11:11-14, 20-21, Apostle Dr Ami-Narh reflected on the story where Jesus cursed the fig tree. True, it was not the right season for figs, but the leaves of the tree suggested otherwise, he disclosed.

He revealed that the fig tree was discovered to be fruitless, despite being cultivated and was finally cursed for pretending to serve.

“Do not advertise what you cannot deliver,” he cautioned, adding, “Leaves are signs of flourishing, but the fruits are the products.”

He challenged the church to take stock of what it has produced, saying, “Are we producing what we are advertising as a church? Are we producing the right products for the Kingdom? Are we producing the right products for the world?”

He warned against misplaced priorities.

“We have shifted our focus, therefore, we need to recalibrate. While church growth, prominent members, and material success are not inherently wrong, they should not come at the expense of the church’s real mission.

“Certain things are not evil per se, but if you put them in the wrong places, they become evil.

“Our practical creed has become different from our normal creed. God’s power must work in you so that it can work for you,” Apostle Dr Ami-Narh emphasized.

He noted that true discipleship is making the right fruit and multiplying it. “Beyond the huge numbers of our churches, we have to make sure that they are true disciples and saints of God,” he said.

Citing John 8:31-32, the President of the Apostolic Church, Ghana drew the dividing line between fake and real disciples.

“It is only His Word that the real disciple abides in. These alone will get to know the truth, and the truth will set them free.”

He decried modern preaching, turning to materialism and motivation at the expense of true faith and character.

“The messages of today don’t, and cannot produce Saints,” he bemoaned, adding, “You don’t bring them the members into liberty; you take them into slavery.”

Ashanti Regional All Ministers’ Conference Held web

Ashanti Regional All Ministers’ Conference Held

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the Kumasi Local Council of Churches (KLCC) and the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, has held a day’s conference for ministers and leaders of churches within Greater Kumasi.

The conference, held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Bantama Central auditorium of The Church of Pentecost, was under the theme; “The Church and the World.”

The President of the GPCC and Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, hinted that the focus of the Great Commission is the world, not the church.

Speaking on the topic, “The Authority of the Christian Believer in Transforming the World,” he noted that while believers concentrate on building huge structures, fasting and praying, they should also remember to be careful not to be serving only the church, because the focus of the church is the world.

“All that we do in church is to equip us so that we can change the world and bring it to the saving knowledge of Christ. This is the eternal purpose of God in establishing the church,” he added.

Apostle Nyamekye revealed that the intention of Jesus in establishing the church was to have a people capable of bringing change to every society.

Also addressing the participants, the Ashanti RCC Coordinator of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng, expressed great joy seeing ministers from different dominations come together to sharpen and equip themselves.

The event, he said, emphasised the bond between the churches in the Ashanti Region and Ghana in general.

“A meeting like this can help enforce the voice of the churches in the nation and the world,” he added.

Apostle Adjei-Kwarteng, who is also the Kwadaso Area Head of the church, mentioned that although 71% of the Ghanaian population is Christians, there is widespread of corruption, poverty, armed robbery and other social and economic vices.

“Missionaries have always assumed that the reception and practice of the gospel will transform both individual and economical lives. Unfortunately, in our part of the world, many churches have always been religious without any practical attempt to transform society, hence the need for this important conference,” he bemoaned.

He was hopeful that the participants will go back with renewed commitment so as to transform their world.

Present at the conference were Apostle Samuel Amponsah Frimpong (Chairman, Christ Apostolic Church), Apostle Dr. Aaron Ami-Narh (President, The Apostolic Church – Ghana), Apostle Immanuel Tettey (General Secretary, GPCC), Reverend Emmanuel Forson (Ashanti Regional Secretary, GPCC) and Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey (Ashanti Regional Chairman of GPCC/Asokwa Area Head).

Also present were Apostle Charles Osei Boateng (Pentecostal Life Church International General Superintendent), Reverend Dr. Douglas Frimpong (Planning Committee Chairman, Kumasi Council of Christian Churches), Bishop Dr. Divine Adjei (Founder, Calvary Life Chapel International), Apostle Emmanuel Atimah (Territorial Head, Ashanti West Christ Apostolic Church), Ministers and their wives in the region and other church leaders.
