Makango District Holds Mass Wedding For 16 Couples

History was made on Thursday, July 28, 2022, when over 700 people gathered in the Central Assembly church auditorium of the Makango District in the Atebubu Area of The Church of Pentecost to witness the celebration and blessing of 16 marriages.

This glorious event was chaired and officiated by the Atebubu Area Head, Apostle Isaac Amatey Anim, with assistance from the Makango District Minister, Pastor James Fosu Appiah.

Speaking at the event, Apostle Isaac Amatey Anim said that mass weddings are highly encouraged in The Church of Pentecost because it is in line with the Church’s “possessing the nations” agenda (Vision 2023).

He said that the exercise enables couples (especially cohabiting couples) to formalise their union and seek the blessings of God at a relatively cheaper cost.

Reading from Proverbs 18:22, Apostle Anim emphasised that marriage is one of the good things God gave humanity, and this is why “He who finds a wife obtains favour from the Lord.”

He advised the couples to live with each other in mutual love and respect and take proper care of their families by setting up family altars and possessing their homes.

He further encouraged those yet to solemnise their union in the right way as approved by the Church to emulate this good example.

The “newly-wed” couples are Elder Samuel Osabutey and Deaconess Esther Adzorke, Elder Williams Frempong and Deaconess Mary Apadey, Elder George Dogbatse and Deaconess Mary Walakatey, Elder Abraham Ablordeppey and Deaconess Charity Ahorsu, Elder Jacob Bosoka and Deaconess Faustina Mensah, Elder Paul Agbeko Adzi and Deaconess Patience Dusi, and Elder Joseph Nuertey and Deaconess Grace Tokoli.

Others are Deacon Alfred Agordo and Mrs. Dora Ametepe, Deacon Samuel Azuma and Mrs. Esther Goku, Mr. Gershon Afedo and Deaconess Rebecca Kudroha, Mr. Francis Doughan and Deaconess Eva Essel, Mr. Robert Amawugah and Mrs. Gladys Sakiti, Mr. Eric Azadavor and Mrs. Victoria Avusu, Mr. Paul Dagadu and Mrs. Comfort Kwofie, Mr. Joseph Kwame Mensah and Mrs. Emelia Alevi and Mr. John Arhin and Mrs. Priscilla Entsie.

Present at the occasion were Pastor Ernest Arthur (Yeji Nsuano District Minister) and his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Arthur, Overseer Isaac Masford (Avorkope District Minister), and his wife, Mrs. Linda Afful, and Mrs. Terry Gyamfi (Wife of the Kojo Boffour District Minister)

Sawla Area Head & Wife Fete Widows & Widowers

More than 220 widows and widowers of the Sawla Area of The Church of Pentecost participated in a “Love Feast” fully funded by the Sawla Area Head, Pastor David Amankwaa, and his wife, Rosemond, last Saturday,

The event, which took place at the ABB Jirbaline auditorium, Sawla, drew participants from the Sawla and Bole zones comprising nine districts, namely Sawla, Nyange, Sindaa, Kakease, Nakwabi, Changbalyiri, Bole, Bole Customs and Mandari.

In his welcome address at the event, Pastor David Amankwaa expressed gratitude to God for making the “Love Feast” a reality and for the huge turnout.

According to the Area Head, the Lord laid it on his heart to organise a feast for the widows and widowers in the Area in order to share fellowship with them. Pastor Amankwaa further stated that the programme would be replicated in the Tinga and Jinavore Zones of the Church to extend love and fellowship with 700 widows in the Area by the end of the year.

Exhorting the gathering with Matthew 25:35-40, Pastor Amankwaa emphasised the need to care for the aged, widows and widowers in the church and society.

He also advised Christians to anticipate the second coming of Jesus Christ and be always prepared to meet their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Empathising with the participants, the Sawla Area Head said that widowhood is fraught with various challenges such as loneliness, lack of companionship, lack of care from relatives, and most importantly, the absence of children to comfort one in difficult times. He, however, assured them that the Lord is always present with them in all times and seasons.

He also encouraged them to continue to trust in the word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to keep them going.

“Being a widow or widower is not a curse, but a part of life. So, do not give up, rather, rely on God to supply all your needs,” he said.

Mrs. Rosemond Amankwaa assured the widows and widowers of God’s providence only if they continued to depend on Him even in their present situation.

As part of the event, some of the participants, including Mrs. Mary Danah, wife of the late Pastor John Danah, shared their experiences in widowhood.

All participants were treated to sumptuous meals and drinks served by the Area Head, his wife, and the Women’s Ministry.

All ministers and wives within the Bole and Sawla zones attended the event.

Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Inaugurates Chieftaincy Ministry

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area of The Church of Pentecost, headed by Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, has inaugurated the Chieftaincy Ministry, which aims at “possessing the palaces” for Christ.

The momentous event took place at Ablekuma Central Assembly auditorium on Sunday, August 7, 2022, with the gathering of over 200 persons made up of kings, queens, family heads, the pastorate in the Area and their wives and some other royals.

The event was also graced by the National Coordinator for Chieftaincy Ministry and Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, and the National Coordinator for the Chaplaincy Ministry, Apostle Lt. Col. Benjamin Kumi-Woode.

In his welcome address, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye said that royals are also co-heirs of God’s kingdom (Revelation 21:23-27), hence the need to bridge the gap between the church and chieftaincy institution.

He also noted that the Church has, therefore, introduced this ministry to ensure that royals come into the saving knowledge of Christ, who is the only way into the kingdom of God.

Apostle Ohemang Kwakye further noted that the ministry would not only focus on evangelising the palaces but also handle or mediate chieftaincy issues that may arise.

Exhorting the gathering on the topic, “Godly Leadership Brings Liberty to the People,” with Judges 5:1-2 as a Bible reference, Apostle Lt. Col. Benjamin Kumi-Woode explained that the Israelites were under the oppression of a powerful Canaanite king, Jabin, known for possessing great weaponry and was having strong military force led by an experienced army commander – Sisera.

Apostle Kumi-Woode contrasted that with the powerless and less efficient Israelite army, saying: “Notwithstanding the stark reality, a godly woman by name Deborah inspired a war against Jabin, and the army commander of Israel insisted that Deborah accompanies him.”

He further stated that when leaders employ the hand of God, the dynamism of things they battle with changes because, when there is a fall of war, all human tactics change.

Ending his sermon, Apostle Kumi-Woode advised the royals to employ “the hand of God” because the task of leadership requires physical and spiritual strength, and faith in God releases courage for that.

He said that the name of Jesus carries power to influence people positively, and this would come in handy since their mandate requires mobilising and influencing people.

“Inspiration to lead comes from the Holy Spirit, so you will need the Spirit of God to help you excel in your leadership,’ he said.

After a time of intense prayer and praise, Apostle Anane-Denteh proceeded to inaugurate the Chieftaincy Ministry Committee of the Area, comprising Nana Obeng Akrofi I (Krontihene of Kwahu Jejeti – Chairman), Pastor Ayim Smart (Ablekuma District Minister – Coordinator), Nana Appiah VI (Kyidomhene, Enyan Nkodwo) and Nana Afia Bempomah II (Denkyira Abakomahemaa)

The others are Nana Omari Sasu (Odikro – Akwasiso, Kwahu Osubeng), Opanyin James Nana Kwesi Essuman (Abusuapanyin – Asumakoma Kokokyire Awudua, Tarkwa – Member) and Elder Nicholas Foli-Mensah.

The committee is tasked to reach out to chiefs and royals within the Area and bring them to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.

Among other things, it is also required to mobilise all royals in the Church for effective ministry to royals, coordinate royal conferences, organise training programmes and retreats for royals and report on the activities of the chieftaincy ministry during the Church’s reporting periods.

The Church Of Pentecost Gets New Mono-Ethnic Officers

The Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost has ordained 71 new officers, including two deacons and two deaconesses from the Birifor-Dagaare Mono-Ethnic Assembly in the Old Tafo Akim District created through the ministry of the Home and Urban Missions

The officers are Daniel Bal-Buara Suuresongyie (Deacon), Moses K. Asare (Deacon), Portia Deme Tuyin Ampelebe (Deaconess) and Lucy A. Bal-Buara (Deaconess).

The historic moment took place on Friday, August 5, 2022, during the Area’s monthly prayers, dubbed “Divine Encounter” at Ebenezer Assembly in Effiduase District.

The service, which was officiated by the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, was his last service with the Area as he proceeds on transfer to Old Tafo Area in Kumasi.

Other dignitaries present included Mrs. Mary Yeboah Nsaful (wife of the Area Head), the entire area pastorate and their wives, and Apostle Fenning Obiri-Yeboah (Rtd.), former National Head of the Church in Nigeria, among others.

In his opening remarks, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful stated that the vision for opening the Birifor Assembly is to build an assembly that is culturally relevant to meet the spiritual, physical, social and psychological needs of the indigenous Birifor-Dagaare population within the catchment area.

This, he said, is in line with the overarching vision of The Church of Pentecost, dubbed “Vision 2023: Possessing the Nations,” which birthed HUM. The HUM, among other things, has the mandate to evangelise and reach out to people groups who are yet to be reached or engaged with the gospel message of Christ as far as the evangelistic strategies and drive of the Church are concerned.

Speaking on the theme “God Bless You” with scripture reference from Numbers 6:25-27 as his parting message with the Area, Apostle Nsaful advised Christians to be steadfast and always give themselves fully to the work of the Lord because their labour in the Lord is not in vain.

He charged the newly ordained officers to always stand in the gap for the Lord and be faithful to the charge they have pledged to as unpaid officers of the Church.

In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS, the outgoing Effiduase Area Secretary, Pastor Prince Odoom, who is the immediate-past Area HUM Coordinator, described the news as “refreshing” and revealed that the Birifor HUM Assembly, which started in 2021 with a total membership of 25 members, now boast a membership of 105 including children.

Tarkwa Area Dedicates Duplex Mission House

The Tarkwa Area of The Church of Pentecost dedicated a duplex Mission House to house the Tarkwa Sector PENSA Traveling Secretary and the Resident Minister for the Dr. S.K. Baidoo Worship Centre, who doubles as the General Manager for Pentecost Hospital, Tarkwa.

The twin apartment storey building has five bedrooms each with other facilities such as a living room, a family area, a kitchen, a store room and a dining room.

This dedication service was held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the Dr. S.K. Baidoo Worship Centre. It was officiated by the Tarkwa Area Head, Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker, who is also the Western and Western North Regional Coordinating Council Chair of the Church.

In a brief remark, Apostle Dr. Walker mentioned that it is the vision of the leadership of The Church of Pentecost that ministers and their families are well housed and thus thanked God for making the project a reality.

The mission house project was started by Pastor Dr. Edward Arko Koranteng, the first resident minister of Emmanuel Worship Centre (now Dr. S K Baidoo Worship Centre) and General Manager of the Tarkwa Pentecost Clinic (now Hospital). The sod-cutting ceremony for the project took place on September 8, 2018 and was officiated by Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi with support from Pastor Koranteng and Pastor Eric Abeiku Quainoo, the Travelling Secretary (TS) for Tarkwa Sector. Pastor Dr. Arko supervised the project to the lintel level on the first floor before his reassignment in March 2019.

His successor, Pastor Dr. Suleman De-Graft Issaka, the current Resident Minster for Dr. S.K Baidoo Worship Centre and General Manger for the Tarkwa Pentecost Hospital, supported by Pastor Quainoo, continued the project to its completion.

Pastor Emmanuel Nkansah of Aboso District, delivering a sermon at the event, stated that the purpose of the mission house is to serve the mission of God.

Speaking on the topic,” The Mission House” with reading from 2 Kings 4:8-10, Pastor Nkansah emphasised that the mission house is a house to accommodate someone on a mission and assignment; hence, whoever stays in the mission house carries a special mission.

“So, when a minister is in the mission house, all he does is in the interest of the church,” he opined.

He also described the mission house as the operational centre where prayer emanates to the whole district and local assembly.

“Therefore, visions and strategies are first received and worked at from the mission house. Since the occupants of the Mission House are on a God-sent mission; they ensure that the mission house is filled with the presence of God,” he said.

The Aboso District Minister further noted that the mission house serves as a refuge for the afflicted, poor, rich and all manners of people who go through hard times, saying: “People, who are not necessarily members, come there and receive their breakthrough.”

Considering the importance of the mission house, Pastor Nkansah said it is the responsibility of the occupants and the church to ensure that the mission house serves its purpose, is well-kept, and the minister and his family, are well catered for.

Pastor Emmanuel Nkansah, therefore, encouraged the church to pray that the presence of God would saturate the mission house so that the expectation of anyone who enters there would be met.

Present at the ceremony were Mrs. Irene Odi Walker (Wife of Tarkwa Area Head), the entire Tarkwa Area pastorate and their wives, Elder John Arthur (Tarkwa Area Deacon), Elder Alex Ayim (Tarkwa Area Executive Committee Member), officers and members of the DSK Baidoo Worship Centre and PENSA UMaT.

Christian Leaders Urged To Work With Integrity

The Head of Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department at the University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Ernest Tweneboah-Koduah, has urged Christian leaders to work with integrity and serve as good role models for others.

“Your integrity will not be complete until others see you as a man or woman of integrity,” he said this yesterday during The Church of Pentecost Managers and Heads of Department Retreat at the Pentecost Pensions House, Gbawe in Accra.

Prof Tweneboah-Koduah, who is also an Elder of The Church of Pentecost, said the leader’s behaviour reflects on not only his or her own reputation, but also on the reputation of the organization he or she works in.

“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, or choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them,” he stated.

He further pointed out that leaders, who work in Christian organisations must accept that they are held to a higher standard of integrity than others because they are perceived as Christians.

He admonished the management of the church to adhere to the policies of the organization, adding that, when subordinates realise that their leaders are following policies, they would follow same.

“Employees who trust their leaders to have integrity are likely to work harder, perform better, and have greater company loyalty,” Elder Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah concluded.

The Church Of Pentecost-Canada Organises Retreat For Church Leaders

A two-day leadership retreat (Apostolisation) has been organised for ministers, ministers’ wives and officers of The Church of Pentecost (COP) in Canada.

The event, which took place from July 29 to 30, 2022, in Edmonton, Alberta, had the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, and the International Missions Director (IMD), Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe as main speakers.

The retreat was hosted by the National Head of COP-Canada, Apostle Ransford Obeng Gyamfi, and drew participants from Western Canada and across the nation, including the various Heads of the Church in Canada; namely Apostle Dr. James McKeown Quainoo, Apostle Daniel Nii Lomotey Engmann, Apostle Dr. Alex Agyei-Gyamera, Apostle Joseph Christian Fynn-Sackey and Pastor George Zephaniah Amon.

Speaking on the topic “My Father My Father” (2 Kings 2:11-12) at the Ministers and Wives session on Friday, July 29, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe reiterated the importance of fatherhood in “possessing the nations” agenda of the church.

According to the IMD, fathers are a great help to their children and therefore encouraged ministers to play fatherly roles in the lives of the church members.

Quoting from 1 Corinthians 4:15, the IMD said that the need for fathers in the church cannot be overemphasised as Paul was a father to many in the Corinthian church.

Apostle Agyemang-Bekoe further noted that fatherhood as a concept does not die, saying, “this is why when the dead body fell on the bones of Elisha, he resurrected.”

The IMD also spoke on what Heads expect from ministers and their spouses and vice versa.

Apostle Agyemang Bekoe spoke on “Keeping the Fire Burning” (Leviticus 6:9, 12-13) during the Saturday session of the retreat held for officers and ministers and wives.

Drawing from the Old Testament way of sacrifice with the altar and censer, the IMD explained the importance of maintaining the Holy Spirit fire in the church.

He indicated that ministers and officers must be consumed on the altar for them to be burnt before they can go up (excel in service).

He said that it is the duty of the ministers and officers to remove all the ashes, which represents the weaknesses of the church, from the altar, explaining that “allowing the ashes to remain will impede the flames.”

Apostle Agyemang Bekoe also indicated that it behoves them to add more firewood (teaching on the Holy Spirit) so that fire on the altar would continue to blaze.

As the original fire came from the Lord, the IMD cautioned church leaders to be wary of strange and fake fires from questionable sources, notwithstanding the fact that the COP is part of the larger army of Jesus Christ (the Body of Christ).

Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe also explained the significance of the spices (myrrh, onycha, galbanum, and pure frankincense) used in the censer at the altar of fire.

The IMD explained that the myrrh, which the wise man presented to Jesus Christ at birth, stands for preservation.

He further noted that the purpose of onycha is for soothing and nourishment, while galbanum performs a dual purpose as a flavouring agent and wounds healer.

“Similarly, the frankincense served as a pain killer that makes a person younger,” he added.

Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, in turn, reiterated the importance of keeping the fire of the Holy Spirit burning in the church by encouraging ministers and officers to read and meditate on Leviticus 6 to 9.

According to the General Secretary, when ministers are consecrated to go and minister, they need to be guided by the rules of conduct in order not to be like the sons of Aaron who offered strange fire and were cut off by the LORD.

He emphasised the need for ministers and officers to be conversant with the Ministers’ Manual, Church Constitution, Rules of Conduct, and the Ministerial Welfare Practices to be able to work effectively and efficiently.

Apostles Kumi-Larbi and Agyemang-Bekoe also discussed the key features that make The Church of Pentecost distinctive.

The General Secretary and the IMD also highlighted some aspects of the rules of conduct and key characteristics of The Church of Pentecost brand, respectively.

Apostle & Mrs Quainoo Retire From Active Ministry After 23 Years

A colourful retirement service was held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, for the Western Canada Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. James McKeown, and his wife, Emily, who have brought their 23-year ministerial service to a glorious end.

The event was officiated by the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, with support from Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe (International Missions Director), Apostle Michael Agyemang-Amoako (RCC Coordinator, Americas) and Apostle Ransford Obeng-Gyamfi (National Head, COP-Canada).

Also present were Apostle Daniel Engmann (North York Area Head), Apostle Dr. Alex Agyei-Gyamera (Scarborough Area Head), Apostle Joseph Fynn-Sackey (Alberta Area Head), Pastor George Amon (British Columbia Area Head), the pastorate and their wives in Canada and other officers of the church.

Over 600 participants attended the ceremony, including Apostle A. K. Miah (Rtd.), a former National Head of Canada, Pastor David Dompreh (Rtd.), Pastor Nicholas Ameyaw (Rtd.), Hon. Kelly McCauley (MP Edmonton West), Hon. Jon Havelock (former Alberta Justice Minister), Major Felix Tachie (Senior Clinical Chaplain, Canadian Armed Forces Health Services Centre), and Nana John Ankamah (Chief of Drobo Area, Ghana).

Many ministers from sister churches in the community and community leaders also graced the service.

The General Secretary, Apostle Kumi-Larbi, preached on the topic “See that You Fulfill the Ministry that You Have Received” (Colossians 4:7).

In his sermon, Apostle Kumi-Larbi stressed that each Christian has received a gifting, talent, or grace from the Lord (1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 4:7; Romans 12).

These giftings or graces, he further noted, comes from Christ and should be manifested towards the common good of the church and mankind, not their own benefit.

“If a person does not focus on what God has given them, they look at the peripherals – titles, fame, money, power, authority, thereby missing the mark,” he said.

According to the General Secretary, like Demas, some people are not able to finish their ministry well due to a lack of concentration on the work God has assigned to them, conflict with others, fighting leaders of the church, immorality, financial issues, bitterness, complacency, and burnouts resulting from discouragement (2 Timothy 4).

Apostle Kumi-Larbi, therefore, urged believers to concentrate on the call of God with unconditional obedience, and diligence, and wholeheartedly serve the Master (John 2:5).

“Do not get distracted like Demas, but be like Paul, Timothy, Titus, Archippus, and others who completed their ministries,” he said while referring to John 2:5 and 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi, however, noted that not all who start the race finish.

To finish one’s ministry well, the General Secretary advised believers to concentrate on the grace or gift they have received from God, remain connected to the God who called them, not confer with flesh and blood (Galatians 1:15-18) and fight the good fight by putting on the full armour of God despite dangers (2 Corinthians 4:8-10; 2 Corinthians 9).

He also advised them to get rid of any excess luggage (sin, worldliness, etc. Hebrews 12:1-3); and guard or hold on to the unadulterated faith until the Master says ‘well done”.

The IMD presented a Certificate of Service plaque to the retiring minister on behalf of the General Council.

In a testimony read on its behalf at the event, the General Council eulogised Apostle Dr. Quainoo “for raising leaders has been a key aspect of his ministry. One of his key preoccupations in each station where he has served has been to ensure that both presbyters and members are well equipped to take up leadership roles. His contribution toward strengthening the acumen of the leadership of the church is very noteworthy.”

The retiring couple was also presented citations by the Western Canada Area Presbytery, Women’s Ministry, and Ghanaian-Canadian Ministers Fellowship of Toronto.

Apostle Dr. James McKeown Quainoo was called into full-time ministry in 1999 after serving as Field Assistant in Vancouver. He has since devoted himself to the service of God and The Church of Pentecost in Canada for the past 23 years.

He pioneered the planting of the church in Vancouver and performed scouting duties for the churches in Calgary and Edmonton. These churches have now been well-established and grown to become integral districts for British Columbia and Alberta areas, respectively.

His ministry work took him and his family to districts in Hamilton, PIWC North York, Montreal, McKeown (North York), and currently Western Canada, where he served as a Probationary Overseer, District Pastor, Area Head and an Apostle.

He also served on many boards and committees in the Church in Canada, including as National Executive Council Member (1997-2022), National Secretary (2001-2006), and National Trustees Board Member (2001- 2022).

Other appointments he received in the course of the ministry are National Youth & Children’s Ministry Pastor (2002- 2004), National Youth Leader (2004-2006), National Youth Ministry Patron (2006- 2022), PIWC restructuring Committee Chairman (2013-2014), Constitution Review Committee Chairman (2015-2022), among several others.

Together with his wife, Mrs. Emily Quainoo, they established the first young ladies’ wing in Canada called the “Radiant Ladies” (now Virtuous Ladies).

Mrs. Emily Quainoo also served on the National Children’s Ministry Executive Committee from 2005 to 2015 as the Deputy National Leader. She helped to compile a Sunday School Teachers training manual as well as a manual for teaching children with Special Needs.

Under her leadership, the Canadian version of the Women’s Ministry’s syllabus was written and published. She also organised numerous ladies’ prayer conferences in every district and Area she served.

She is also described as very hospitable, prayerful, a worshipper, a singer, a gifted song writer and a published author.

As part of the service, Apostle Joseph Fynn Sackey and Pastor George Amon were inducted into office as Area Heads for Alberta Area and British Columbia Area, respectively.

The Church of Pentecost Chairman Pays Courtesy Call on GJA Executives

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, this afternoon paid a courtesy call on the newly inducted Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, the visit was to wish the President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour and his executives well and also see how best the two institutions could collaborate in the future for a mutually beneficial outcome.

He said The Church of Pentecost, in its quest to contribute its quota to the development of the nation, has embarked on many social intervention initiatives such as the building of prison facilities to help reform the country’s deteriorating prisons system.

“We are not building prison facilities to get many people imprisoned as being speculated but to reform the prisons system because the prisons facilities being built by the church have classrooms, a football pitch, baptistery, modern washrooms, mechanized boreholes, offices, infirmary, workshops and other auxiliary facilities,” he stated, disclosing that, the biggest prisons facility built by the church would be commissioned on August 23, 2022, at Nsawam in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost further disclosed that the church is collaborating with other churches in Ghana to organise All Ministers Conference as a move to among other things share fellowship with one another.  He, therefore, encouraged all pastors in Ghana to register as soon as possible to enable them participate in the conference, which is slated for September 13-16, 2022, at Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa-Fetteh near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

The GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, on behalf of his executives, thanked the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and his team for the visit.  He commended the church for its contributions to the socio-economic development of the nation over the years

“The Church of Pentecost’s contributions to job creation, health sector, agribusiness, educational and other sectors of the economy could not be over-emphasized and we want to deepen our relationship with the Church,” he stated.

In addition to rebranding the GJA and its annual Awards, Mr. Dwumfour revealed that his administration plans to build capacity of journalists, and establish a fund, as well as scholarship programme to support journalists and urged The Church of Pentecost to partner with the Association in these areas.

In his response, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Nyamekye, assured the Association of the church’s support.

The Chairman was accompanied by Prophet David Kankam Beditor (Executive Council Member and Area Head of Ashaiman), Apostle Mike Etrue (Executive Council Member and Area Head of Kaneshie), Apostle David Tettey Tekper (Area Head, Achimota), Pastor Benedict Eghan (Personal Assistant to the Chairman) and Pastor Dr. Felix Dela Klutse (Media Pastor of The Church of Pentecost).

Nkwanta Area Inaugurates Chieftaincy Ministry

The Nkwanta Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Pastor Seth Dwamena Asante, has inaugurated the Chieftaincy Ministry to provide chaplaincy services to the chiefs, queens and royals in the Area.

The ceremony, which took place on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Nkwanta Central Assembly auditorium, was officiated by Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (National Coordinator, Chieftaincy Ministry), who is also the PEMEM Director and an Executive Council Member of the Church.

Speaking on the topic, “The Divine Order for Kings” (Proverb 16:10-15), Aps. Anane Denteh said, among other things, that God spoke to His people in times past through kings.

He said that the bloodline of an individual is what qualifies them to be a royal; it is not conferred on an individual or through an election.

He added that it is the Sovereign Lord who establishes Kingship and that His kingship is eternal (1 Timothy 1:17).

He urged all royals gathered to their reign be rooted in the Lord, establish their thrones on righteousness, and always sing praises to God because it is a divine order (Psalm 47:6-7).

Apostle Anane Denteh encouraged the chiefs, the queens and the royals to note that God is compassionate and powerful, and He would not hurt or destroy them with His power but rather to protect them.

He also urged kings to use their power for development and not confusion.

“God is just, so you must also be just and show fairness to people. God is honest and, therefore, you must also learn to be honest in your dealings with people,” he said.

Apostle Anane Denteh said that the five-year strategic vision of the Church (Vision 2023) gives critical attention to the chieftaincy institution and reiterated that the ministry would continue to provide chaplaincy services to the royals.

Concluding his message with 1 Samuel 8:1-5, Apostle Anane Denteh said that the chieftaincy institution is highly honoured in society, hence, to maintain this, royals must uphold Kingdom values and principles.

“Please do not rule anyhow, else your subjects will one day rise against you,” he advised.

After the sermon, the PEMEM Director proceeded to induct the Nkwanta Area Chieftaincy Ministry Committee members into office.

The committee members are Elder Nana Abass Budu (Chairman, the Chief of Adele tribe), Elder Ubor Daniel Labasi (Secretary, Likpakpaani Abor), Elder James Nikpilinkina (Kpassa Mmrante Hene), Elder Amenyo Sampson Begyina II (Kyidom Hene, Nturobo Traditional Area), Deaconess Attabaso (Queen mother, Akyode tribe), Deaconess Ama Afrakoma (Queen mother’s Linguist, Akan’s Tribe), Pastor Michael Osei- Frempong (Area PEMEM Leader) and Overseer Maxwell Doku (Area Chieftaincy Coordinator)

In his remarks, Elder Ubor Tassan Konja VI, a National Chieftaincy Ministry Executive Committee member and the Chief of Kpassa Traditional Area, commended the National and Area Leadership for their initiatives and encouraged all royals to surrender their lives to Christ.

The Chairman of the newly inaugurated committee, Nana Abass Budu, expressed gratitude to God and the leadership of the Church for this vision.

He assured the church that the committee would do well to discharge their outlined duties to the best of their abilities and competencies. He, therefore, pleaded for the support of the pastorate and the chiefs.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by 65 chiefs, four paramount chiefs, 50 queen mothers, 60 linguists, six Muslims, other royals and church members.

Also present at the meeting were the area pastorate and their wives. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Nana Amoah Boafo (Paramount Chief of Akyoede tribe, Nwanta), Nana Kobla Agampawo II (Paramount Chief of Challa tribe in Kabiti), and Dasebere Oduro Gurani I (Paramount Chief of Dodo Traditional Area).

The Kinachu dancers (Konkomba’s, Kpassa) Akyoede tribe (Nkwanta), and the Adele tribe from Nkwanta gave an outstanding cultural display at the event.
