The annual fasting and prayer programme of the Watford City Church of The Church of Pentecost in the United Kingdom, dubbed “Ascend,” took place at the Oakwood Outdoor Centre in Wokingham.

ASCEND is a time of spiritual deepening and awakening, where members wait on the Lord and seek His strength to be unleashed into the world.

This year’s edition, held from August 25 to 28, 2023, was themed “I Am the One” (Acts 10:21) and featured various speakers, including Pastor Godfred Boadi (PIWC-Southampton), Overseer Gerald Gyane (PIWC Salem Resident Minister), Elder Daniel Agyemang Bofah (Presiding Elder, Watford City Church), Elder Michael Chintoh, Deacon Hubert, Sister Tina Ayiku, and Sister Joan Boadi.

Some of the topics covered during the event included “The Posture of the One,” “the Price of the One,” and “The Transformation.”

The programme welcomed over 50 participants of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds who eagerly sought God’s grace to fulfill their mission. Some also participated virtually.

The event featured seasoned musicians such as Deaconess Lukala Munalula, Minister Jacy Mai, Minister Godley Abel, Debbie Adesiyan, Deaconess Leona Agyemang, and other musicians who filled the atmosphere with worship.

On Saturday afternoon, a special baptism service saw three brothers and a sister undergoing water baptism, including Brother Gellian, a Portuguese national popularly known as “Kwame Grills.”

In the evening, participants enjoyed a special bonfire night in anticipation of the official closing the following day.

During the closing session, Overseer Gerald Gyane encouraged participants to be fruitful and contribute to making the world a better place, asking, “How will you taste when the world takes a bite of you?”

This year’s event was unprecedented as it featured continuous nights of prayer, days of fasting, Holy Ghost empowerment, water baptism, fellowship, games, and other entertaining activities.

The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PWC) in the Anyaa-Ablekuma Area of The Church of Pentecost has demonstrated exceptional generosity by donating essential items worth GHȼ27,000.00 to support two internal mission districts in the Kintampo Area of the Church.

The donation, which includes rechargeable speakers, speaker horns, bicycles, plastic chairs, and clothing items, aims to enhance the Church’s outreach efforts and improve the lives of the local community in the Zabrama and Ntankoro Districts of the Kintampo Area.

The Resident Minister, Pastor Abraham Nimako Boateng, encouraged the congregation to support missionaries who selflessly dedicate their lives to the propagation of the gospel and had personally made requests for such support from PIWC Ablekuma some months ago.

A team of seven, comprising Elders Stephen Saka, Samuel Tetteh Nartey, Alexander Kwame Frimpong, Richard Ackom, Daniel Waka, and two members (Perpetual Ofori Boateng and Gloria Kofitse), embarked on a thrilling 2-day trip to the Kintampo Area on August 4–5, 2023, to present the items.

The team’s first stop was at Zabrama District, manned by the District Minister, Overseer Enoch Bosompeh-Frimpong, who, with great excitement, received four rechargeable speakers (HV-255) with two cordless mics each at a total cost of GHS 9,600, 10 bicycles worth GHS 5,800, 3 pairs of Marksonic mega horns worth GHS 2,250, and 8 jumbo jute sacks of clothing items. The District Minister was full of gratitude and promised to make effective use of the items to win more souls for Christ.

Also, the team donated 100 plastic chairs with metallic legs worth GHȼ8,500 to the Kwabena Num Assembly of Ntankoro District. The District minister and his wife, Pastor Samuel Katakyie-Ware, received the items on behalf of the Assembly, and they were equally grateful for the gesture.

Pastor Abraham Nimako Boateng of PIWC-Ablekuma expressed gratitude to the congregation for their unwavering support and commitment to missions.

He emphasized that such acts of kindness are at the core of the Christian faith and reflect the true essence of the mission of the Church of Pentecost.

The Mampong Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Kwabena Asare, has dedicated the mission house of the Akyeremade District in the Mampong Area to the glory of God.

Apostle Asare was assisted by Pastor Stephen Obeng Asare, the Mampong Akyeremade District Minister.

The dedication ceremony, which took place at the Mary Afia Amaniampong Temple (MAAT) auditorium on June 18, 2023, brought together people from all walks of life, including active and retired ministers, as well as officers and members of the Church.

Delivering a sermon on the topic “The Local Church Upholding Godliness” with scripture references from Matthew 5:13-15, Matthew 13:33, and 1 Timothy 6:6, Apostle Asare explained that the local church connotes a group of individuals who have believed in Jesus and are found in one community, coming together to worship at one place.

He further noted that the local church, like yeast, exists to permeate society with the values and principles of the kingdom of God.

“The local church must impact society, and as long as the church is not impacting society, then something is wrong somewhere,” he said.

According to the Mampong Area Head, “impact does not come from building temples and mission houses but rather from godliness.”

He also stressed that godliness is not about material gains but rather about living a Christ-centered life.

Apostle Asare, therefore, called on Christians to strive to please God with their lives so that people around them would see them as real representatives of Jesus Christ.

Giving a brief history of the mission house project, Elder June Gyimah said that the idea for the mission house was conceived in 2008 by Pastor S K. Asiedu (Rtd.), during his tenure as the District Minister.

The foundation for the project was started on the parcel of land adjacent to the Central Assembly church building. It, however, became necessary to relocate the building upon the advice of the immediate-past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah (now retired) when he visited the area for the dedication of the Akyeremade Central Assembly auditorium (MAAT) in 2016.

In compliance with the recommendation, the Prophet Foster Aniakwaa-led Area Executive Committee donated a parcel of land owned by the Area in 2017 for the project.

He also acknowledged Prophet James and Apostle John Osei Amaniampong and their family, Mr. Yaw Marfo (Agya Wiase), Mr. Kofi & Deaconess Gyima, Deborah Kyei, officers, and members of the Akyeremade District, among others, for their immense contributions towards the completion of the building.

The event also had in attendance the Mampong Area pastorate and their wives, Nana Serwaa Akuamoa Boateng (Mampong Newtown Queen mother), Elder Emmanuel Kobea (Area Deacon), Elder Emmanuel Ofori Fordjour, and Elder Samuel Owusu Agyapong (former Area Deacons).

Also present were Apostle I. K. Amoako (Rtd.), Pastor Robert Odame (Rtd.), Pastor Edmund Antwi (Assemblies of God and GPCC-Mampong Chairman), and Pastor Godwin Eghaghe (Missionary from the House of Discipleship Church, Nigeria).

The Abedwum Assembly church building in the Akrokerri District of the Obuasi Area of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated amidst great joy.

Apostle William Boakye Agyarko, the Obuasi Area Head, dedicated the building on Sunday, April 24, 2023.

The entire project, with a total cost of 578,000.00, was sponsored by Mr Joseph Antwi, a philanthropist based in South Africa and CEO of ASDS South Africa and Gye Nyame Company Ltd Ghana.

Mr Antwi personally contributed 553,000.00 towards the construction of the church building, demonstrating his deep commitment to the cause.

The church building was named in honour of his late father, Elder Paul Akwasi Antwi.

The Akrokerri District Minister, Pastor Richard Osei Mensah, and his wife, Esther, were also hailed for their role in ensuring the successful completion of the building.

Addressing the congregation on the theme, “Dedication to the Service of God for Maximum Impact,” Apostle Boakye Agyarko underscored the significance of believers wholeheartedly dedicating their lives to God’s service, urging them not to fear death.

He emphasised the importance of leading a righteous life, free from sin, as God blesses those who separate themselves for His divine purposes, encouraging the believers to stand firm against false doctrines.

During the dedication ceremony, Apostle William Boakye Agyarko offered heartfelt prayers, calling for God’s abundant blessings upon Mr Joseph Antwi and all those who contributed their time and resources to the completion of the church building.

The Area Head took a moment to inspire the youth, urging them to prioritise education for personal and spiritual growth.

Mr Joseph Antwi, the project sponsor, shared his deep desire and lifelong dream to build a church.

He called upon those whom God has blessed to use their resources to support the work of the Lord, as it serves as a testament to His grace and goodness.

Mr Antwi thanked God for His abounding grace and encouraged everyone to persevere despite challenges.

The Chief of Abedwum and his elders graced the ceremony, along with the Obuasi Area pastorate and their wives, showcasing unity and support within the community.

The dedication of the Abedwum Assembly church building marked a significant milestone in the spiritual upliftment of the community.

Thirty-five years after its establishment, members of the Atasemanso Assembly in the Santasi District of The Church of Pentecost can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the completion and dedication of their church building.

The edifice, which cost approximately GHS 1,287,016.10 to construct, was dedicated by Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah, the Kwadaso Area Head, during a colourful ceremony held last Sunday.

Speaking on the theme “House: A Dwelling Place For Man; Man: A Dwelling Place For God,” with references from 1 Corinthians 9:10 and 2 Kings 4:8-17, Pastor Ben Akuetey Noye, the Asuoyeboa District Minister, explained during the event that a house is built to be a dwelling place for man.

He used the example of the Shunamite woman, who built and furnished a house and handed it over to Elisha and his attendant to be used as a dwelling.

Pastor Noye emphasised that every house derives its name from the occupants of that house.

He further stated that a church building is a place for people to worship God, not for God to dwell in, as God does not reside in houses built by human hands.

The Asuoyeboa District Minister also stated that God has made the human body His dwelling place and desires to dwell within humans, as mentioned in Revelation 3:20.

During the dedication of the building, Apostle J.B.K Tawiah thanked the late Chief of Atasemanso, Nana Owusu Barimah I, for donating the land for the building during his reign.

The Chief of Atasemanso and his elders, who were present at the event, were impressed by the magnificent nature of the building and praised the Church for bringing such honour to their community.

The Presiding Elders, who had been involved in the assembly since its inception, were acknowledged for their various roles in acquiring the land and overseeing the actual construction.

In attendance were the Kwadaso Area pastorate and their wives, as well as some officers and members from the Santasi District and the Atasemanso Assembly.

In a remarkable display of generosity, five districts within the Tema Area of The Church of Pentecost have made significant donations to support the missions enterprise of the Church.

The districts, Community 12, Community 1, Tema Newtown, Tema Greenwich Meridian, and Koluedor, took turns to present various items to aid the work of missions.

The Community 12 District made a substantial donation, including one tricycle, two motorbikes, and 30 half-pieces of wax print. These items were presented at a short ceremony at the Tema Area Office.

Meanwhile, the Community 1 District donated a brand-new Royal motorbike to the Jimbale District in the Walewale Area. The presentation was made by Pastor Sampson Dzefe, the District Minister of Community 1, to the Area.

Not to be outdone, the Tema Newtown District extended its support by presenting 36 half-pieces of wax print, 24 pieces of cloth, a bicycle, and various other essential items. Pastor Stephen Ameyaw Frimpong, the District Minister of Newtown and Chairman of the Area Missions Committee handed over these contributions to the Walewale Area Office. Apostle Norman A Danquah, the Walewale Area Head, gratefully accepted the items on behalf of the Area.

In yet another commendable gesture, the Tema Greenwich Meridian District contributed to internal missions with 30 half-pieces of wax print and two bicycles. Pastor Dr. Suleman De-Graft Issaka, the District Minister of Tema Greenwich Meridian, represented the district during the presentation. Elder Isaac Obeng, the Area Accounts Officer, received the items on behalf of the Church.

Additionally, the Koluedor District demonstrated its commitment to internal missions by donating three half-pieces of wax print.

Expressing profound gratitude on behalf of the Area, the Tema Area Missions Chairman commended the districts for their extraordinary acts of kindness, stating, “I believe that these donations will significantly accelerate the work of missions and spread the gospel to unreached communities.”

He emphasised that these acts of generosity further underline the districts’ commitment to supporting missions and highlight the importance of unity and generosity within the Church.

“These acts of kindness will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in the lives of those reached by these missions and contribute to the overall growth of the Church,” he said.

The Wiaga District Central Assembly church building in the Bolga Area of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated to the glory of God.

Apostle Emmanuel Kwesi Acquah, the Bolga Area Head, officiated the dedication ceremony on Sunday, June 4, 2023, assisted by Pastor Richard Frempong, the Wiaga District Minister.

Apostle Emmanuel Acquah thanked the district for prudently using the allocated Church funds to construct the building.

He fervently prayed for God’s blessings and peace to encompass all who gathered in the church building, including the chief, the elders, and the entire Wiaga township.

In his remarks, Naab Aloysius Asiuk II, the Paramount Chief of Wiaga, extended his appreciation to the church leadership for constructing a special place of worship in the community.

He promised to participate actively in the church’s fellowship, saying, “This is now the house of the Lord, and it shall be my house of prayer.”

The Wiaga District of The Church of Pentecost was created in 2003 from the Sandema District.
