Be Yielded to the Holy Spirit – Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko

The Elmina Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, has urged all Christians to be fully yielded to the directives of the Holy Spirit.

Speaking on the topic “The Holy Spirit, the Life of the Church”, he emphasised the importance of total dependence on the Holy Spirit in both church administration and personal life. He noted that the Holy Spirit does not require assistance from any other power, as He carries immense power in Himself—power that is the strength and life of the Church.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko made this clarion call during a meeting with all officers in the Area on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Elmina Central Assembly.

Drawing from Ezekiel 47:1-12 and Acts 1:8, he explained that just as the Spirit of the Lord took the prophet Ezekiel to a stream—which symbolised the Holy Spirit—and made him stand in it at varying depths, Christians must likewise seek to deepen their relationship with the Holy Spirit.

He added that there are levels of infilling of the Holy Spirit, and believers must yearn to be filled to the brim, rather than remain complacent at the shallow or surface level. This deeper infilling, he explained, is achievable through consistent fasting and prayer.

“The Holy Spirit brings healing, fruitfulness, freshness, and power, among others, to those who yield to Him,” he emphasised.

The meeting also marked the launch of the Pentecost Week Celebration, during which the leadership of the Church has declared a 14-day global fasting and prayer programme for all members.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko encouraged all officers and members in the Area to participate actively in this spiritual exercise, believing that through it, God would speak and work miraculously in their lives.

He concluded with a solemn warning that any church which sidelines the Holy Spirit or fails to involve Him in its operations and administration is destined for failure.

The Area Head also used the occasion to brief all presbyters in the Area on key decisions made during the 47th General Council Meetings held at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, from April 30 to May 2, 2025.

The meeting brought together all ministers and their wives, executive members, ministry leaders, and officers within the Area.

Couple Welcomes Baby Boy After 15 Years Of Waiting

It was a day of joyful tears and heartfelt gratitude to God as Deacon Edem Kojo Avono and his wife, Naomi, devoted members of the New Juaben District in the Koforidua Area of The Church of Pentecost, celebrated the naming ceremony of their miracle baby, Samuel Yaw Sika Melchizedek Avono, on May 3, 2025.

After 15 years of marriage and a long, arduous journey marked by multiple miscarriages and countless medical consultations, the couple finally celebrated the birth of their son, a moment of triumph after years of fading hope. Despite the tireless efforts of medical practitioners, conception had remained elusive, making this long-awaited arrival more miraculous.

However, during a special district prayer meeting known as ‘Spiritual Clinic,’ initiated by District Minister, Pastor Samuel Yaw Asare, the church fervently interceded for couples trusting God for the fruit of the womb. It was during this period of intense prayer that a miracle began to unfold.

Just a few months after the prayer meeting, Naomi conceived, unknowingly carrying the pregnancy for 26 weeks. Having lost hope after years of disappointment, she did not realise she was pregnant until much later. Eventually, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, to the glory of God.

The naming ceremony, officiated by Pastor Samuel Yaw Asare, was a deeply emotional occasion, graced by family, friends, and members of the church. The congregation, overwhelmed with praise and awe, celebrated the faithfulness and miraculous power of God.

In his sermon, Pastor Asare used the occasion to encourage believers to remain faithful and prayerful, reminding them that no matter how long the wait or how difficult the journey, God can do exceedingly abundantly above all they ask or think.

‘Let the testimony of Deacon Avono and his wife remind us that with faith and persistent prayer, God never fails. Delay is not denial, and in His own time, He makes all things beautiful,’ he said.

PENSA Koforidua Sector’s Off-Campus Mission Yields 766 Souls, Three New Local Assemblies

The Koforidua Sector of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) has successfully concluded its off-campus outreach as part of the end-of-semester vacation, resulting in 766 new converts and the establishment of three local assemblies.

The initiative was carried out by two mission teams. The first team comprised members from the Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong-Akuapem, and the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Aburi, who ministered in the Agormanya Area from May 3-11, 2025. Operating under the theme, ‘Jesus Christ – Saviour of the Never-Dying Soul (Salvator Animae),’ their outreach spanned Juapong and Adjena districts.

Meanwhile, PENSA Koforidua Technical University (KTU) embarked on a mission in the Effiduase Area from May 8-13, 2025. Their efforts, centered on the theme, ‘Jesus Christ – the Light and the Life’ (John 1:4, John 8:12), covered nine districts, including Effiduase, Kukurantumi, New Tafo, Old Tafo, Begoro Odumase, Ahomahomaso, Dedeso, Dorminase, and Ehiamankyene.

The cumulative impact of these missions has led to 766 souls being won for Christ. Additionally, three new Local Assemblies have been established at Ahyia Yeboah (Kukurantumi District), Deposuah (New Tafo District), and Fatreni (Ehiamankyene District). The outreach also saw 168 children embracing the gospel, while 166 backsliders rededicated their lives to Christ. So far, 208 of the new converts have undergone water baptism.

Speaking in an interview, Pastor Gordon Ansah, PENSA Travelling Secretary for the Sector and  Youth Ministry National Executive Committee Secretary, highlighted that these efforts align with the church’s Unleashing Agenda under ‘Possessing the Nations Phase II,’ as well as the Youth Ministry’s commitment to mobilizing young people to influence their world for Christ.

Pastor Ansah expressed deep gratitude to Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, Koforidua Area Head and Eastern RCC Coordinator, for his continuous encouragement and support. He also acknowledged Apostles Samuel Kojo Gakpetor (Agormanya Area) and Stephen Okyere Acheampong (Effiduase Area) for their immense contributions to the success of the outreach.

He further commended Apostle Dr Ebenezer Hagan, Youth Director, and his team for their consistency in empowering young people for Kingdom impact.

Pastor Ansah offered prayers for God’s blessings upon PENSA members and alumni in the Koforidua Sector, recognising their passion and commitment to missions.

HUM Equips Francophone Church Planters For Evangelism web

HUM Equips Francophone Church Planters For Evangelism

The Ashaiman Sector of the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) of The Church of Pentecost has organised a day’s conference to train selected French-speaking individuals (Ghanaians and Francophones) as church planters.

The event, which took place on May 10, 2025, aims to expand evangelism efforts among Francophone migrants in Greater Accra.

As part of its mandate, the Home and Urban Missions focuses on expatriates and African migrants, many of whom come from French-speaking countries. The HUM ministry strives to locate these individuals, share the gospel with them in their native languages and cultural contexts, and establish churches or cell groups to support their spiritual journey while they reside in Ghana. Additionally, HUM helps them connect with external branches of The Church of Pentecost in their home countries upon their return.

Since 2019, the ministry has actively reached out to many expatriates and African migrants. However, given the increasing number of Francophone migrants in Ghana, there is a growing need for more concerted efforts to engage this demographic. Most of these migrants originate from predominantly Islamic nations in West Africa, requiring a dual approach—conversion-focused evangelism for non-Christians and cultural integration support for Francophone Christians struggling to adapt to Ghanaian worship styles.

To address this need, HUM saw it necessary to intentionally train church planters who can reach out to their fellow Francophones using culturally relevant evangelistic methods. A total of 81 participants received training on various topics, including Church planting and church growth through the cell system, the value of a soul and the believer’s role in soul-winning, the ministry of an evangelist, the Gospel and cultural approaches to evangelism, effective one-minute evangelism techniques, and the role of the Holy Spirit in soul-winning.

Key facilitators for the conference included Pastor Paul Adzigbli, Pastor Jeremiah Attakpa, Pastor George Timinka (retd), and Elder Cisse from PIWC Atomic.

Participants expressed deep appreciation for the conference and commended the organisers for tailoring the training to their cultural needs. Many pledged their full support for the French church-planting initiative.

In an exclusive interview, Pastor Solomon Anderson, HUM Pastor for the Ashaiman Sector, emphasised the urgent need to establish more French-speaking cell groups in key Francophone hotspots within Greater Accra. He indicated the rapid increase in Francophone migrants and thanked the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Committee (GARCC) and HUM Coordinators for their support in organising the event.

The successful conference marks a significant step toward strengthening evangelistic efforts among Francophone migrants in Ghana, ensuring that they can worship in a language and cultural setting that resonates with them while being integrated into the greater Christian community.

Also present were Apostle Anthony Mensah (Resident Minister of PIWC, Atomic), Mrs Joyce Anderson, and Mrs Vera Missefa.

MO-AJ Foundation Commissions Memorial Bus Stop In Honour Of Mark Ofosu Ampadu Jnr.

The Mark Ofosu Ampadu Jnr (MO-AJ) Foundation has commissioned a bus stop in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the passing of the late Mark Ofosu Ampadu Jnr.

Mark, a vibrant young man with dreams and aspirations, tragically lost his life in a road accident at just 29 years old. He was a beloved member of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono. His untimely passing underscores the urgent need for safer roads.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the frontage of the Regional Maritime University, Nungua, was attended by several dignitaries. Present were Apostle Seth Fianko-Larbi, Resident Minister of PIWC Sakumono, and his wife, Dr Mrs Theresa Fianko-Larbi; Prophet James Osei Amanianpong (retired); Elder Mark Ofosu Ampadu Snr and Deaconess Mrs Cecilia Ofosu Ampadu, parents of the late Mark; family members, members of the church, and representatives from LaBianca Group of Companies, where he once worked. Representatives from the Regional Maritime University were also in attendance.

Delivering a brief exhortation, Apostle Seth Fianko-Larbi explored the delicate balance between God’s sovereignty and human responsibility. He outlined 15 key realities that shape this dynamic, emphasising that God’s plan for every individual is one of salvation and success in fulfilling their role in His redemptive purpose.

He encouraged believers to cultivate an attitude of thanksgiving in all circumstances, free of competition, comparison, or complaint. He further noted that some individuals, though seemingly wicked in their actions, inadvertently contribute to God’s redemptive narrative, often fulfilling prophetic destinies.

The formal dedication of the bus stop was led by Prophet James Osei Amanianpong (retired), former Area Head for Teshie-Nungua. He praised the character and legacy of the late Mark Ofosu Ampadu Jnr, acknowledging the facility’s role in serving the community and offering much-needed comfort to its users.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Christine Opoku Onyinah, a lawyer and elder sister of the late Mark, underscored the Foundation’s mission to advocate for road safety, amplify the voices of victims and their families, push for systemic change, and foster safer communities. She maintained that the values Mark embodied—compassion, service, and an unwavering commitment to improving lives—continue to guide the Foundation’s work.

‘This newly built memorial bus stop stands as a symbol of that mission,’ she remarked. ‘It serves not only the church and university community but also stands as a visible reminder that we must do better.’

Representatives from the Maritime University were grateful to the Foundation for the Bus stop.

Pastor, Family Donate School Uniforms To 82 Pupils In Senya Beraku

In a practical demonstration of Christian love and community support, the Senya Beraku District Minister in the Winneba Area of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Eric Owusu, and his family have donated 82 school uniforms to pupils of AME Zion A and B, and D/A ‘A’ Basic Schools at Senya Beraku in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region.

Forty-two uniforms were given to pupils of AME Zion A and B, while 40 went to D/A “A,” totaling GH¢7,690.

The gesture, which was part of their commitment to the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda of The Church of Pentecost, was inspired by the wife of the pastor, Mrs Esther Owusu, a teacher at AME Zion A. She observed some pupils attending school in worn-out uniforms or casual home clothes. Moved by their situation, she shared her concern with her husband, leading to this compassionate act of support.

Headteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed immense gratitude to the couple, describing the intervention as timely and uplifting. They noted that the donation would not only ease the financial burden on parents but also enhance the confidence and morale of the pupils.

They further commended Pastor Owusu and his family for their exemplary kindness and urged other individuals and organisations to emulate their generosity.

During the presentation, pupils and staff offered prayers and words of appreciation for the family’s benevolence. Representatives took turns expressing heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the impact of such an act of kindness.

In a brief address, Pastor Owusu shared the motivation behind their gesture: ‘It is a way of motivating and encouraging these young ones to know and believe that they are not alone in their academic journey. We hope this support inspires them to study hard and aim high.’

The donation event was attended by pupils, teachers, and church officers, who witnessed the profound impact of this simple yet significant act of care and support.
