25 Drug Addicts, 4 Marginalised Children Surrender To Christ

Twenty-five drug addicts and four marginalised children committed their lives to Christ during a one-day mega crusade at the Dome Market by the Ashaiman sector of the Home and Urban Mission (HUM) on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The crusade was part of the church’s Vision 2028 initiative, which aims to reach out to marketplaces with the gospel and chaplaincy services. The ultimate goal is to establish market churches.

The Sector Minister, Pastor Solomon Anderson, delivering a sermon titled “The Salvation Encounter”, drew parallels between the biblical story of Jesus’ encounter with the madman of Gadara and the potential for spiritual and physical liberation for those struggling with addiction and affliction.

The crusade’s success was evident in the 25 drug addicts and 4 marginalised children who gave their lives to Christ, leading to the establishment of the Dome Market Home and Urban Mission (HUM) assembly.

The Dome District Minister, Pastor Benjamin Arthur, described the crusade as a “shot on target.” He noted that the market is home to many drug addicts and marginalised individuals, including labourers and ‘Kayayo’ girls.

“Many of these individuals sleep at the market sheds and are victims of drug addiction and other vices”, he said, adding, “The church, recognising the urgent need for their salvation, was prompted to organise this market crusade.”

Pastor Arthur further explained that the church will continue to intensify evangelistic activities at the market to win more souls for the Kingdom.

Keep Your Focus On Jesus – Apostle Dr. Buertey Urges Christians

The Resident Minister of Pentecost International Worship Centre, Asokwa (PIWC-Asokwa), Apostle Dr. Ignatius Joseph Teye Buertey, has urged Christians to prioritise keeping their attention on Jesus as they navigate their spiritual journey.

He made this call during his sermon at the burial and memorial service held in honour of Mr. John Kwasi Ofori, the father of Pastor Godwin Nana Ofori (South Sudan National Head), on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the PIWC-New Tafo auditorium.

The service, which was officiated by Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey (Asokwa Area Head), had in attendance active and retired ministers of the Church including Apostle James Oko-Barnor (Uganda National Head), Apostle Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng (Nigeria National Head), Prophet Fred Antwi (Duayaw Nkwanta Area Head), among others.

Speaking on the topic, “Run the Race, Finish Your Course,” based on Hebrews 12:1, Apostle Dr. Buertey likened Christian journey to a race, stressing the significance of staying focused on the ultimate goal, just as runners fix their eyes on the prize.

He said that Christians are fortunate to have received Jesus Christ, who was the promise of God that believers of the past had hoped for and anticipated but could not find (Hebrews 11:39-40). This alone, he said, should be sufficient impetus for Christians to commit themselves fully to the work of God. He, therefore, encouraged the congregation to persevere through challenges and obstacles, striving to complete their course faithfully to receive an incorruptible crown.

To work diligently and achieve success in their spiritual race, Apostle Dr. Ignatius Joseph Buertey advised Christians to avoid distractions and endure hardships in pursuit of the crown.

He also emphasised the importance of supporting and encouraging fellow believers during tough times to prevent anyone from falling behind in their journey.

Mr. John Kwasi Ofori, aged 75, is survived by a wife, Deaconess Faustina Ofori, and five children.

Jamasi District Organises Mass Wedding web

Jamasi District Organises Mass Wedding

The Jamasi District in the Ashanti-Mampong Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a mass marriage blessing ceremony for three couples.

The beautiful event took place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Jamasi Central assembly auditorium.

The ceremony, which was officiated by the District Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Tete Yeboah Asare, was attended by members and non-members of the church within the communities where the couples come from.

Also in attendance was the wife of the district minister, Mrs Dorcas Asare. Others were the Assistant District Women’s Ministry leader, Mrs Emelia Boafo, the District Executive Committee members, officers, among others.

Pastor Asare congratulated the couples and admonished others to follow suit. He stated that the purpose of the ceremony was to help the couples commit their marriages into the hands of God, the Christian way and allow them to enjoy the privileges that come with it.

In a sermon on the topic, ‘They may all be one’ (Prov. 14:1), Pastor Asare compared the marriage institution to a building structure. He explained how everyone wishes to have nice building structures, yet do not know the stress that people go through in putting up such beautiful buildings.

He highlighted four pillars couples need in marriage in order to sustain their marriage structure. This, he said, includes having clearer understanding of marriage as an institution, having fellowship and friendship among couples, getting rid of every poisonous attitude in marriage, and lastly trusting God during troubles in the marriage journey.

According to him, just as structures take years to be raised, marriage also takes time to gel and, therefore, the need for couples to be patient with each other.

Pastor Emmanuel Tete Yeboah Asare concluded his sermon by calling on couples to endeavour to build their marriages with God’s word and prayer, knowing that the family that prays together stays together.
