Prayer Serves As Bridge Between Humanity And God – Apostle Edzorhoho Reveals

The Downtown-Ofaakor Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Kojo Edzorhoho, has revealed that prayer is the bridge between humanity and God.

According to him, nothing is more important than prayer in dealing with humanity.

Apostle Edzorhoho said this on Thursday, October 31, 2024, during the just-ended ‘PCC Revival,’ a prayer and fasting event organised by the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa-Fetteh in the Kasoa Area.

Speaking on the theme, ‘My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer,’ and drawing from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Acts 4:31, he underscored the importance of making prayer the foundation of a Christian’s walk.

Apostle Edzorhoho indicated that the concept of a ‘house of prayer’ can be understood in two distinct ways, drawing from Isaiah 56:7. He explained that Jesus meant a physical temple and, therefore, church buildings are indeed houses of prayer which should be treated with reverence and set apart as places for encountering God.

He also disclosed that every believer is, in essence, a house of prayer, inhabited by the Holy Spirit.

‘You, as a believer, is personally a house of prayer,” he stated, explaining that whenever believers gather in God’s presence, they transform that space into a house of prayer, whether it is a small group or a large assembly.

Explaining the significance of the house of prayer, the Downtown-Ofaakor Area Head noted that it connects believers with God, creating an open link between the earthly and divine realms and becoming a place where miracles, breakthroughs, and spiritual growth are fostered.

According to him, in such a setting, God’s presence is honoured through worship, intercession, and the pursuit of divine wisdom and guidance.

He described the house of prayer as a place of forgiveness, where believers experience reconciliation with God and each other.

Prayer, he hinted, is the essence of a believer’s power and spiritual growth.

‘No one is more powerful than their prayer life,’ Apostle Edzorhoho declared, advising believers to make prayer a visible and impactful part of their character and conduct.

He reminded the congregation that prayer is not merely a religious practice but a divine strategy, saying, ‘Prayer is not our message; it is God’s method for the message. It’s not just a good idea; it’s His plan. Everything is by prayer.’

He added: ‘God’s work requires men and women who are skilled in the business of prayer.’

The initiative dubbed, ‘Seek Peace at all Times,’ was launched at the Forecourt of the State House on Sunday, November 3, 2024, with the aim of fostering a peaceful and stable environment during the electoral period.

The ecumenical body comprised the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), the Christian Council of Ghana, National Association of Charismatic Christian Churches, and the Office of the National Chief Imam.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, in an address, said achieving peace requires intentional effort, sacrifices, and compromises from all stakeholders. He noted that Ghana’s peaceful electoral history did not occur by chance but was the result of deliberate actions.

He called on all Ghanaians to rise above political affiliations and focus on the nation’s wellbeing, highlighting the coexistence between Christians and Muslims and the need to preserve the harmony during the elections.

The event featured a number of political party leaders, including H.E. John Dramani Mahama (Former President & NDC Flagbearer), Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NPP running mate), Dr Hassan Ayariga (PNC Flagbearer) and Nana Ohene Ntow, representing the Movement for Change, all pledging their commitment and that of their political parties to peace before, during and after the elections.

Each speaker underscored the importance of peace and the role that religious leaders can play in promoting it.

The presence of high-profile figures like Hon. Joe Ghartey (MP for Essikado-Ketan), Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP for Ningo-Prampram), Hon. Naa Momo Lartey (MP for Krowor), among others, underscored the broad support for the peace initiative. Traditional leaders and members of the clergy were fully represented.

Religious leaders who took the stage urged state institutions, including the Electoral Commission, the police, and the judiciary, to perform their roles diligently to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

The campaign is a significant step towards maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of peace in Africa and ensuring that the upcoming elections are conducted in a tranquil and orderly manner.

Great Revival Breaks Out In Atebubu

A powerful wave of revival swept through the Atebubu Low Cost Central Assembly as Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, led the congregation into a fervent prayer session and Holy Spirit impartation.

Hearts were open, voices raised, and a tangible sense of divine presence filled the packed auditorium as worshippers eagerly sought a fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit.

With every prayer lifted, the congregation responded with even greater fervor, filling the atmosphere with renewed faith and expectancy. It was a night of transformation, as the Spirit moved mightily, rekindling hearts and inspiring a deep hunger for God among all who attended.

This happened after Apostle Nyamekye’s message titled, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray,” on Friday, October 1, 2024, at the Atebubu Low Cost Central Auditorium.

The Chairman spoke about the essential role that prayer played in Jesus’ life. The disciples recognized that His strength and purpose stemmed from His devoted prayer life—a practice they longed to understand and emulate.

Referencing Mark 1:21, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted the humanity of Jesus, pointing out that though Jesus was divine, He also experienced human limitations.

“Jesus Christ needed strength from God because he was also a man in human flesh,” he remarked.

He added: “As humans, we too need the strength of God to withstand life’s challenges.”

Apostle Nyamekye defined “uphold” as the act of supporting, defending, lifting up, and sustaining—qualities every believer needs to embody in their spiritual journey.

He urged believers to seek God’s strength first thing in the morning, a practice he described as vital to a fruitful and resilient Christian life.

“We are weak because we don’t have time for God,” he observed, pointing to a lack of prayer as the root of spiritual weakness.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded by saying, “Prayer will change you, and through that change, you will impact the world around you.”

Present at the service were Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (PEMEM Director / Executive Council Member); Apostle Isaac Amatey Anim (Atebubu Area Head); Prophet Fred Antwi (Duayaw Nkwanta Area Head); Very Rev. Emmanuel Atta Kakra Mensah (Anglican Church, Dean of Atebubu Cathedral); Rev. Michael Owusu (Anglican Church); Rev. Mandari District Screens 120 Women For Breast Cancer

The Mandari District in the Sawla Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a breast cancer awareness event, offering free screening for women in Mandari and neighbouring communities.

Held in collaboration with the Mandari Health Centre on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Mandari Central Assembly auditorium, the event aimed to educate participants on the causes, effects, and risk factors of breast cancer, as well as the importance of self-examinations for early detection.

During the event, 120 women underwent breast cancer screenings, and several others were examined for general health issues.

This year’s event, spearheaded by the Pentecost Child and Youth Development Centre (PCYDC) in Mandari District, was part of the district’s annual free health screening programmes. For instance, last year, 85 members were registered for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), with 195 members screened for various ailments.

Delivering his welcome address, Pastor Jones Dwomoh Amankwah, the Mandari District Minister, highlighted that the screening and awareness efforts are part of the Church’s social responsibility towards its members and the community. He emphasised the Church’s aim to provide a holistic gospel that addresses the physical, social, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of both members and non-members in the communities it operates.

Mr. Yandam Azuma, the officer in charge of the Mandari Health Centre, provided valuable information to participants about breast cancer. He highlighted the prevalence of the disease in Ghana, noting that while women are at higher risk, men can also be affected.

The Project Director for PCYDC in Mandari, Mr. Micheal Jaquah, expressed gratitude to the participants and caregivers for their engagement and turnout.

Participants also conveyed their joy and appreciation to the church leadership for organising this important event, as many committed to conducting self-examinations and educating others on early detection to save more lives.

Breast cancer remains a significant threat in Ghana and globally. According to the Ghana Health Service, the disease claimed 2,900 lives in 2019.

Furthermore, over 4,000 women receive a breast cancer diagnosis annually, with 50% of them succumbing to the disease. This underscores the importance of early detection, increased awareness, and regular screenings.

Chairman Nyamekye Calls On Believers To Prioritise Prayer In Their Lives web

Chairman Nyamekye Calls On Believers To Prioritise Prayer In Their Lives

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has highlighted the critical importance of prayer in the life of the believer.

According to him, in Luke 11:1, where the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, they were not interested in the visible miracles or successes of Jesus’ ministry, but in the foundational practice (prayer) that sustained Him.

He said this on Wednesday, October 29, 2024, in a sermon titled, “Teach Us How to Pray,” during a gathering of elders at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Kokomlemle, Accra.

“To pray is the greatest thing one can do, especially for those seeking revival in their lives,” Apostle Nyamekye stated, stressing on the role of prayer in personal and spiritual transformation.

Referencing Mark 1, Apostle Nyamekye pointed out that Jesus often woke up early to pray, not out of mere discipline, but because He understood the need for prayer.

“Why would Jesus, the Son of God, rise so early to pray?” Apostle Nyamekye asked. “Because He knew that He needed to be sustained by the Father.”

Quoting Isaiah 42:1-2, the Chairman explained that Jesus was upheld and sustained by God, driven by His need for divine strength.

“In these solitary places, God molds His people, not just to make them great preachers, but to prepare them for effective ministry,” he disclosed.

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) President further stressed that God’s anointing does not come upon machines but upon human beings.

“When many people pray with you, they share your burden, but God’s true men and women are formed in the closet,” he added, referencing Matthew 6:5-6, where Jesus encourages private prayer.

He warned against the dangers of neglecting personal devotion, saying, “Lack of closeness with the ‘Master’ can lead to spiritual leanness and ineffectual ministry.”

He urged believers to spend meaningful time with God, stating that short devotions weaken spiritual vitality, hinder progress, and undermine the foundations of a vibrant spiritual life.

Apostle Nyamekye encouraged believers to prioritise prayer and cultivate an intimate relationship with God, as it is the key to sustaining their spiritual journey and ministry.

Present at the meeting were Apostle Dr. Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe (La Area Head), Apostle Dr Col. Benjamin G. Kumi-Woode (Director of Religious Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces), among others.
