Buipe District Holds Academic Excellence Conference For BECE Candidates

The Schools Outreach Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in the Buipe District of the Kintampo Area has organised a day’s conference for this year’s candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.

The conference, which was dubbed, “Academic Excellence Conference,’’ took place on Wednesday, 21st September 2022, at the Buipe Central Auditorium of the church. It was aimed at equipping the candidates to excel in their forthcoming examinations.

The programme began with an exhortation from the District Minister, Pastor Eric Owusu, who spoke on the topic: “Hard Work Pays.”

He admonished the candidates to work hard to excel in their academics. “Hard work and excellence go hand in hand, and to excel in your academics you must work hard in and outside the classroom,” he concluded.

The speakers for the conference were Mr Hakeem Sadik (Training Officer for the Ghana Education Service in Central Gonja District), Mr Awal Muhammed (Examiner and a teacher at Buipe Senior High School), and Mrs Esther Owusu (Headmistress of Buipe Higher Height Junior High School and Wife of the District Minister). The topics treated included “How to study for Examination,” “How to answer examination questions,” and “Managing examination fear and anxiety.”

The Central Gonja District Director of Education, Mrs Veronica Tampour-Kuupol, commended The Church of Pentecost for organising what she termed “a life-transforming conference” for the candidates.

She thanked the District Pastor and his wife for opening their doors to the District Directorate of Education whenever they call on them.

Pastor Eric Owusu prayed for the candidates to succeed in their examinations.

The conference was attended by 308 BECE candidates from 12 schools and 15 teachers.
