The 1200-seater multipurpose auditorium of the Asenemaso Central Assembly in the Abuakwa Area of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated.
The building has four offices, seven washrooms, a car park and other well-fitted state-of-the-art facilities to suit all occasions.
The Abuakwa Area Head, Apostle John Appiah Aidoo, assisted by the Area Secretary, Pastor Bernard Ohene Agyekum, and the Asenemaso District Minister, Pastor Peter Quayson, dedicated the edifice on December 29, 2023.
The Assembly, named Bethel, was calved out of the Abuakwa Assembly on July 19, 1998, under the then District Minister, Pastor C. K. Duah, and the late Elder Bright Mensah (the then presiding elder). The assembly, then known as Abuakwa No. 2 Assembly, with a total membership of 60, fellowshipped in a classroom at Tweneboah Koduah International School. Pastor Ohene Sammy, on April 29, 2001, dedicated a temporal structure for the assembly.
The sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of the permanent church building was performed by Pastor B. K. Konotey (now retired) in April 2009. After 14 years of dedication, commitment, hard work and determination to the course of work, the project has been completed and dedicated during the tenure of the current District Minister, Pastor Peter Quayson, and Elder Ing. Isaac Donkor, the Presiding Elder. The project received support from the Headquarters and the Area Office.
Delivering the sermon at the dedication service on the topic, “A Building of Honour to God”with scripture reference1 Corinthians 3:9, Psalm 132:1-5, Pastor Isaac Yves Sowah (District Minister of Mpatuam) called on Christians to pay much attention to their bodies (lifestyles) since they are God’s building.
According to him, God inhabits men’s hearts, so believers need to guard their hearts.
Dedicating the building, Apostle John Appiah Aidoo commended the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and the General Secretary, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, and his predecessor, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, for their prudent management and disbursement of funds in support of various projects in the church.
He also applauded the District Minister, Pastor Peter Quayson, and the local presbyteries for the prudent utilisation of offerings, grants, and local development funds allocated for the project.
The Area Pastorate and their wives were in attendance, as well as retired ministers in the Area, the Area Women’s Leader, the Area Deacon, and officers within and outside the district.
Also gracing the occasion was Pastor Joseph Nyantakyi-Bonsra, the first Asenenaso District Minister currently serving as the District Minister for Nketsiakrom District in the Sekondi Area.
