After 19 years of marriage, Elder Solomon and Deaconess Millicent Yaa Owusu of the Elmina District of The Church of Pentecost have welcomed their first child, bringing to an end a long journey of waiting, prayer and hope.
Family members, ministers, friends and members of the Elmina Area gathered at the Elmina Central Auditorium on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the couple’s long-awaited blessing.
The service, themed “God Is Faithful,” was based on Deuteronomy 7:9 and 2 Timothy 2:11–13.
Speaking at the service, Pastor Maxwell Nti encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, particularly when faced with prolonged challenges and the stigma associated with childlessness.
He identified three characteristics of God’s faithfulness; timelessness, unconditionality and transgenerational impact, and urged believers not to measure God’s faithfulness by the timing of their circumstances. According to him, a delayed answer should not necessarily be interpreted as a forgotten prayer.
Pastor Nti also cautioned Christians against using testimonies of childbirth to pressure or judge couples who are still waiting. He called for greater compassion, understanding and support for couples experiencing childlessness.
He stressed that the value of a marriage or an individual should not be determined by the ability to have children, urging the Church to create safe spaces where couples can receive prayer, pastoral support, encouragement and appropriate medical guidance without stigma.
The Elmina Area Head, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, expressed joy over the couple’s testimony and encouraged the congregation to continue trusting in God, who makes all things beautiful in His time.
He named the child Kwame Akyede Owusu Asare and prayed for and dedicated him to the glory of God.
For Elder Solomon and Deaconess Millicent Yaa Owusu, the service marked more than the arrival of a child. It celebrated 19 years of perseverance, faith and hope.
Their testimony has also become a reminder to the Church to celebrate answered prayers while extending compassion to those who are still waiting.
