The Aflao Area of The Church of Pentecost on Friday, April 10, 2026, organised its maiden seminar on prophetic ministry to equip members to understand and responsibly exercise prophetic gifts in the church. The seminar, led by the Area Head, Apostle Benjamin Aboagye, brought together ministers and their wives, church leaders, ministry workers, and members from across the Area.

The seminar focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of prophetic ministry and its role within the church. Through teachings and scriptural expositions, participants were guided to appreciate the importance of prophetic gifts in strengthening the body of Christ and supporting the mission of the church.

In his opening address, Apostle Benjamin Aboagye emphasised the central role of the Holy Spirit in the operation of prophetic gifts. Quoting 1 Corinthians 14:3, he explained that prophecy is intended to strengthen, encourage, and comfort believers. He noted that God can use various means to communicate His will, provided the individual is spiritually prepared and lives a life that honours God. He further explained that prophetic messages may involve foretelling future events or forth-telling God’s mind to address present circumstances.

Apostle Aboagye highlighted that individuals who operate in prophetic gifts must demonstrate strong commitment to God and uphold righteousness in their daily lives. According to him, such individuals are expected to maintain a close relationship with God, speak only what is revealed to them, confront wrongdoing when necessary, and encourage repentance and restoration. He stressed that prophetic messages must always align with the teachings of Scripture and contribute to spiritual growth within the church.

He further encouraged members with prophetic gifts to cultivate spiritual disciplines such as worship, prayer, humility, knowledge of Scripture, obedience to God, and discernment. He cautioned that spiritual maturity is essential for effective prophetic ministry, adding that gifting without maturity can lead to misuse and misunderstanding.

The seminar also addressed misconceptions about prophetic ministry. Apostle Aboagye clarified that individuals with prophetic gifts are not fortune tellers and should not seek popularity through their messages. He explained that although they strive to live godly lives, they remain human and must depend on God’s grace.

Guidelines were also provided to ensure the healthy practice of prophetic gifts within local assemblies. Participants were advised to communicate messages clearly, avoid emotional excesses during prophecy, and refrain from adding personal opinions to divine messages. He concluded by reminding participants that prophetic gifts are given to build the church and not to promote personal recognition or establish independent ministries.

The seminar ended with prayers and an interactive session where participants asked questions and shared experiences. The event was described as timely and impactful, strengthening members’ understanding of prophetic ministry and encouraging the responsible use of spiritual gifts for the growth of the church.
