The Asutsuare District of The Church of Pentecost in Agormanya Area in collaboration with the Asutsuare Local Council of Churches and the Shai Osudoku District Assembly has organised a clean-up exercise at Asutsuare Lorry Station and its environs.

The event which took place on Saturday, July 27, 2019, attracted members of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) member churches and some government officials, including the Shai Osudoku District Coordinator for Environmental Health and Sanitation, Mrs. Agnes Marku Korletey and the Asutsuare Assemblyman, Honourable Jonathan Kwablah, among others.

Hon. Jonathan Kwablah, in an interview, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the GPCC for the laudable initiative which, he noted, would help sanitize the town.

He cautioned the public to avoid throwing plastic and other solid wastes into gutters. This, he noted, could lead to flooding which can cause a serious distraction to life and property.

The Assemblyman said that illness did not discriminate because it can attack anybody. He, therefore, called on the residents to keep their surroundings clean in order to avoid contagious diseases.

The Asutsuare District Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Elder Ezekiel Abban Teye, also educated the public on the best ways to preserve the environment.

He noted that building on waterways, putting solid wastes into gutters, bathing in water bodies, and littering the environment were some of the negative practices which can pollute the environment. He called on the public to desist from such habits.

In his closing remarks, the Asutsuare District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Joseph Kweku Donkor, said that the exercise was organised in line with the Vision 2023 agenda of The Church of Pentecost which enjoins all members of the Church to possess the nation by keeping their environment clean.

He admonished the public to adhere to personal hygiene and environmental bye-laws. He further educated drivers and passengers not to throw wastes onto the street while in vehicles.

To climax the event, the Shai Osudoku District Assembly donated snacks to all those who participated in the exercise.
