The Axim Area of The Church of Pentecost has provided assorted relief items to flood victims in the Nzema East Municipality and other surrounding communities in the Western Region of Ghana.

The items included 52 bags of rice, 13 boxes of cooking oil, and 13 boxes of tin tomatoes. The affected and beneficiary communities were Salman, Adubrim, Eikwe, Asasetre and Mangoase in the Ellembelle District, Nzulezo in Jomoro Municipality, Dwira Banso, Ahunyame, Abura, etc., in the Nzema East Municipality.

The gesture was prompted by recent torrential rains that caused severe flooding in the affected communities. As a result, many residents were left homeless, and their personal belongings were destroyed.

Apostle Mireku Gyamera, the Axim Area Head, presented the items and encouraged the victims, assuring them that the Lord would not abandon them in the face of natural disasters.

“You may have lost valuable items, but the most important thing is that you still have your lives, and you should thank God for that. God will surely help you and replace whatever has been lost. The Church of Pentecost sympathises with you,” he said.

Apostle Mireku Gyamera also took the opportunity to urge Ghanaians to refrain from indiscriminately dumping refuse and to avoid building houses and valuable structures in flood-prone areas to prevent loss of lives and properties.

During the recent Area Prayer Retreat, themed “Power to Continue,” organised by the Church at Nzema Aiyinasi, the Axim Area Head expressed his sympathy to members who were affected by this year’s heavy rains and prayed to God to show mercy to Ghanaians during the rainy season.

The flood victims expressed their gratitude to the Church for the kind gesture and appealed to the Ghanaian government, as well as other compassionate individuals and companies, to come to their aid.
