The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has declared that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ offers humanity freedom from sin and the promise of eternal life, urging people to embrace the salvation made available through His death.

Preaching on the theme, “The Lamb Crucified,” on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the opening of the Teshie For Christ Crusade, Apostle Obuobi emphasised that Jesus Christ came into the world as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of humanity.

The four-day crusade, being held at the Okaikuma Park and Fishing Harbour, Maami-Teshie, is jointly organised by the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, the Evangelism Ministry (Headquarters) and the Women’s Ministry (Headquarters).

Drawing from 1 Corinthians 5:7, John 1:29 and Isaiah 53:7, the General Secretary explained that the crucifixion of Jesus was not an accidental occurrence but part of God’s divine plan to redeem humanity from the consequences of sin.

He illustrated this through the account of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, where Abraham, responding to Isaac’s question about the sacrificial lamb, declared that God would provide one for Himself. According to him, this pointed to God’s ultimate provision of Jesus Christ as the sacrificial Lamb for the salvation of the world.

Apostle Obuobi explained that sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, bringing death as its consequence. However, God’s provision of Jesus Christ changed the narrative by providing a way for humanity to be reconciled to Him.

Referencing Romans 6:23, he noted that although the wages of sin is death, God’s gift to humanity is eternal life through Jesus Christ.

“No one has to die because of sin any longer,” he declared, explaining that Christ’s sacrifice had provided humanity with the opportunity to escape the condemnation of sin and receive eternal life.

He further cited Isaiah 53:5 to demonstrate that Christ was wounded and crushed for humanity’s transgressions, making it possible for people to receive peace and healing through His sacrifice.

Using the account of Jesus and Barabbas in Matthew 27:16–23, the General Secretary illustrated the significance of Christ’s substitutionary sacrifice, pointing out how Jesus was condemned to death while Barabbas, a notorious prisoner, was released.

He stressed that Jesus endured oppression, affliction and death on the cross so that humanity would not remain under the condemnation of sin but could receive salvation and enjoy life with God.

Emphasising the response required to benefit from Christ’s sacrifice, Apostle Obuobi stated: “The only thing you need to do is to believe.”

He urged everyone to put their faith in Jesus Christ and accept the salvation He freely offers, underscoring the centrality of the cross in God’s redemptive plan.

The opening-day message set the spiritual tone for the Teshie For Christ Crusade, which seeks to bring the message of Christ to the people of Teshie and surrounding communities.
