The Michel Camp District Youth Ministry in the Ashaiman Area of The Church of Pentecost has held a weeklong fasting and prayer to draw the youth closer to God and fulfil their spiritual needs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme, which began on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, was under the theme, “His Divine Power” (2 Peter 1:1-3; Ezra 8:21-23). The fasting and prayer exercise was undertaken based on their days of birth.

In a sermon based on the main theme to kick-start the exercise, the District Youth Leader, Elder David Annor, revealed that since the divine power of Christ has given Christians everything they need for life and godliness, they ought to explore the goodness embedded in the Lord even in this difficult period.

He indicated that it is through God’s power that their lives have been spared during these perilous times. “For this reason, believers of our Lord Jesus Christ must stand in the gap, intercede and proclaim to the world that we have a God whose divine power never fails,” he added.

Throughout the period of the fasting, members received daily messages through the official social media platforms of the District Youth Ministry such as WhatsApp. Due to the ban on mass gatherings, the youth used conference calls and Zoom to engage in prayers.

The topics for the daily messages were: “What Is Christian Faith,” “Christian Faith Is God’s Gift And Command,” “The Promise Of God To Those Who Have Faith,” “Hear The Promise Of God,” “We Are More Than Conquerors Through His Divine Power,” “Through His Divine Power We Don’t Lose Focus” and “We Think Like Victors Not Victims Because Of His Divine Power.”

The District Minister, Pastor Lawrence Kwaku Affum, climaxed the weeklong fasting and prayer exercise on Tuesday, April 21, with a word of exhortation. He prayed that God, through His divine power, may look down from heaven and heal His land.
