A total of 77 souls surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ on Day One of the 2019 ‘Accra for Christ Crusade’ underway in Accra.
The mammoth crusade which is on the theme, “In Him is Life” (John 1:4), began on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, with a huge crowd at the Anglican School Park at Kaneshie.
The night saw the baptism of 57 new converts in water, with 13 others receiving the Holy Spirit baptism.
Opening the crusade on behalf of the Chairman, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, said the entire world is condemned to death. He, however, said the Saviour Jesus has set humanity free from eternal damnation.
He called on the people to allow themselves to be touched by the word of God in order to have salvation for their souls. He said only Jesus can lift burdens from the wretched soul and transform their lives.
A living testimony shared by Elder Wisdom Kwoshie Delali saw some people surrendering their lives to Christ.
Presenting the Gospel message for the night, the Evangelism Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, read from 1 John 5: 11-12, John 1:4 and asked the people to make a decision for their lives.
“The Almighty God has decided to grant you the opportunity to choose life tonight. There is life that satisfies; there is an abundance of life available in Christ. If Jesus Christ of Nazareth comes into your life you are in for a changed life. If Jesus comes into your life you are sure of salvation, you have deliverance, your sins will be forgiven, you will be loosed from the bondage of the devil and have hope for the future,” he declared.
According to him, God has made eternal life available for everybody. This life, he asserted, is only in His Son Jesus Christ, saying, “Anyone who has Jesus has life. Anyone who does not have Jesus has no life because in Christ is life. This life is the development of men.”
He asserted that too many people have wrong conception about what life is. “We presume that life is about having good education, or having plenty money, or having many houses, or having all kinds of good clothes or having a lot of pleasure. People do all sort of things, yet they are not satisfied. It is as though God is absent in their lives. Solomon was a great king and had a lot of money, wealth and pleasure, and yet at the end of the day, he said all is vanity.
Apostle Jimmy Markin indicated that man is struggling in life because of sin. He stated: “Sin is a devastating canker; sin has very devastating consequences; it binds, blinds and cripple people.
“The Good News is that God has given to us a new life; a life that satisfies, a life that gives a future, a life that takes you out of your sin and gives you hope. This life is in his Son Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except by him.”
