Some 200 orphans from the 27 districts of the Sefwi Wiawso Area of The Church of Pentecost had a time of their lives when they were treated to good food, music, and gifts on Christmas Monday [30th December 2019].
The programme, which took place at the Area Mission House, was organised by Mrs. Eunice Kesse, wife of the Area Head, Apostle John Obeng Kesse, supported by the Area Women’s Ministry.
The purpose of the get-together, according to Mrs. Eunice Kesse, was to express love and care to the orphans, give them a sense of belonging, put some smiles on their faces and encourage them to continue to put their trust in God to see them through life successfully just as He has done for her as one who had to go through a difficult early life.
Addressing the children, Apostle John Obeng Kesse quoted from Exodus 20:12 and indicated that children carry the glory of God and that the hand of God is upon them. He advised them to be obedient to God and their guardians.
The Area Head further admonished them to devote their lives to God just as the boy Samuel did when he was staying with Eli, the High Priest.
The Area Women’s Ministry, led by Deaconess Mrs. Mary Ampah, presented an unspecified amount of money to each of the orphans.
The visibly elated children shared their joy as they danced and interacted with the Area Head and his wife, ministers of the church and the Area Women’s Ministry Executive Committee Members.
The joyous occasion had a health screening session where the children and some adults were examined by health personal. It was also used to name and dedicate newly born babies to five ministers in the Area. They were Pastor Ebenezer and Mrs. Rita Nartey Tracoh (Bodi-Sonkoli District), Overseer Kwaku Owusu and Mrs. Rhoda Boadu (Bopa District), Overseer Daniel T. G. and Mrs. Anna Henanaope (Afere District), Overseer Emmanuel Bekoe and Mrs. Patience Bampoe (Boinzan District) and Probationary Overseer Isaac Awuah and Mrs. Esther Dome (Essase District).
