The new leadership of The Church of Pentecost in Nigeria has been challenged to ensure that the power of the Holy Spirit translates into practical solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.
The charge was given by Apostle Dr. Michael Agyemang-Amoako, the officiating minister at the induction service of Apostle Daniel Oluwafemi Babatunde as the new National Head of The Church of Pentecost, Nigeria, at the Mizpah Hall in Sango Ota, Ogun State.
Preaching on the theme, “The Pattern of Divine Impartation: Pass the Mantle and Keep the Fire Burning,” Apostle Agyemang-Amoako drew lessons from the biblical account of Elisha, who inherited Elijah’s mantle and used the power entrusted to him to heal the polluted waters of Jericho.
He said the Church in Nigeria must similarly identify the “bad waters” within society and deploy its spiritual and human resources to bring transformation.
He specifically identified broken homes, struggling youth, spiritual dryness, poverty, addiction and hopelessness as some of the contemporary “Jerichos” requiring the Church’s attention.
According to Apostle Agyemang-Amoako, true apostolic leadership must move beyond occupying territory to producing lasting fruit, stressing that “the anointing must solve real problems” and extend beyond the sanctuary into communities and the wider society.
He therefore charged the new National Head to ensure that the Church’s presence in Nigeria produces visible transformation, particularly among young people and communities facing social and spiritual challenges.
Apostle Agyemang-Amoako also urged the Church to restore its spiritual “altars” at every level—from individuals and families to local assemblies, districts, areas and the national level—arguing that restoration, repentance and consecration must precede genuine revival.
He further called for the raising of a new generation equipped with wisdom, spiritual fire, transforming power and boldness to advance the Gospel despite opposition.
He said the next generation must receive more than religious language, but the genuine fire that sustains prayer, holiness, worship, repentance and evangelism.
The preacher also encouraged Christians to carry their faith into every sphere of influence, including the home, workplace, schools, communities and marketplace, demonstrating integrity, excellence and godly influence.
The message came as The Church of Pentecost in Nigeria ushered in a new era of national leadership under Apostle Daniel Babatunde.
Concluding his message, Apostle Agyemang-Amoako urged the older generation to “pass the mantle” and the younger generation to “seek the mantle, not the title.”
He charged the Church to restore the altar, keep the fire burning, transform its “Jericho” and advance the Gospel, declaring: “The mantle must move. The fire must remain. The mission must advance.”
