The Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the 26 districts in the Area, has donated assorted essential food items worth GH¢ 353,027.00 to the needy and the vulnerable in the church.

The gesture was to help the affected members cope with the challenges that have come about as a result of the restrictions on movement in the Greater Accra Metropolis due to the COVID’19 pandemic.

It will be recalled that the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 3rd April 2020, in a state address, announced a partial lockdown in the Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi metropolises as part of measures to combat the spread of the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, the leadership of the church, led by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has directed all Areas, districts and local assemblies of the church to do everything within their means to meet the needs of vulnerable members and others within their jurisdiction.

Apart from the donation by the Area, all the districts in the Area namely, Nungua, Teshie, Tebibiiano, Demonstration, Teshie-Nungua Estate, Greda Estate, Manet Estate, East Airport, Sakumono, Baatsona, Spintex, Community 20, Community 16, Teshie Water Works; Okpoi Gonno, Coco Beach, Odikoman, Lashibi, Nshorna, PIWC Sakumono, PIWC Graceland, James McKeown Worship Centre, Bethel Worship Centre, E. D. Aninkorah Worship Centre, and Buade districts, have all made various presentations made up of food items and cash to the vulnerable in their districts.

Some of the items they distributed to the members during the first two weeks of the lockdown include bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, bread, tomato paste, canned fish, beans, gari, among others.

In a related development, the Area has set up a COVID-19 fund to extend support to the needy and the vulnerable considering the effect of the partial lockdown on them.

The Area Head, Apostle Dr Alfred Koduah and his wife have given an amount of GH¢ 5,000.00 as seed money for the fund. He has called on individuals and organisations to come on board to support the needy in the Area.
