Apostle Mike Etrue Engages 1,728 Koforidua Area Youth In “Prayer In The Park”

A total of 1,728 youth from the Koforidua Area of The Church of Pentecost gathered at the Aburi Botanical Gardens for the second edition of the biennial “Prayer in the Park” programme.

The event, held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, was organised by the Koforidua Area Youth Ministry and themed “The Benediction” (Numbers 6:22–25) in honour of the Area Head, Apostle Mike Etrue, who is expected to retire in August this year after 30 years of active ministry.

The programme was inspired by the biblical tradition where fathers bless their children before departing from active service. The youth gathered with expectant hearts to receive spiritual impartation and blessings from Apostle Etrue, who has served faithfully as a District Pastor, missionary, Area Head, and Executive Council Member.

The event brought together 15 ministers and their spouses, elders, and gospel ministers, including Elder Dr. Emmanuel Kwasi Mireku and Elder Patrick Amoako, whose ministrations created an atmosphere of intense worship and prayer.

Speaking on the theme for the gathering, Apostle Mike Etrue reminded the youth that God gave Israel a blessing as their covering, assuring them of divine favour, protection, and provision through the Holy Spirit. He encouraged them to embrace their identity as carriers of God’s name and to see themselves as chosen vessels capable of overcoming life’s challenges.

He also shared his personal life journey, recounting his humble beginnings, challenges, and testimonies of God’s faithfulness throughout his ministry. According to him, total dependence on God remains key to enjoying divine guidance and protection.

Apostle Etrue further revealed how the Holy Spirit guided him in choosing his wife, describing the decision as one of the greatest blessings to his life and ministry.

The gathering ended with many participants expressing gratitude for what they described as a life-transforming encounter marked by prayer, worship, and spiritual empowerment.

ELDER MIREKU SNR. LAID TO REST AMIDST JUBILANT HOMAGE web

Elder Mireku Snr. Laid To Rest Amidst Jubilant Homage

A glorious burial and memorial service was held in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in honour of Elder Emmanuel Freeman Kofi Mireku, a retired elder of The Church of Pentecost.

The service, which took place at the Koforidua Jubilee Park, was a true celebration of a life well-lived, with an atmosphere filled with joy and praises instead of sorrow.

Elder Emmanuel Kofi Mireku, 105, was the father of the celebrated Ghanaian Gospel musician, Elder Dr Emmanuel Kwesi Mireku, known by his stage name ‘Elder Mireku.’

The service featured a poignant sermon on ‘The Book of Life’ based on Revelation 20:11-15, delivered by Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng, the Ashanti Regional RCC Coordinator and Kwadaso Area Head of the church. He explained that the Book of Life contains names not just for earthly life but for eternal life with God.

According to him, acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour is crucial for one’s name to be recorded in the sacred book.

Apostle Kwarteng stated that while there may be various interpretations regarding how names are added or removed from the Book of Life, the most widely accepted belief is that acceptance of Christ is the only basis for securing one’s name in it for eternal salvation. He indicated that accepting Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and personal Saviour is the only means by which a person’s name can enter the Book of Life.

Elder Emmanuel Kofi Mireku was celebrated not only for his spiritual leadership but also for his healing grace and anointed ministry. His life was marked by extraordinary encounters with the divine, culminating in a remarkable series of events.

As a man who had discipleship as one of his core values, he mentored many young men, most of whom have become Elders, Pastors, and Apostles of The Church of Pentecost. Some of his mentees include Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng (Kwadaso Area Head), Prophet Kwesi Asante Annor (Resident Minister, PIWC Trasacco), among others.

Elder Mireku presided over several assemblies and established 24-hour prayer programmes and all-night services, inspiring young believers to become intercessors.

He lived until the age of 105 when he was finally called into glory to meet his maker, whom he served diligently on earth.
