A soccer competition jointly organised by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost and the Sawla Area at Nyange in the Savannah Region of Ghana yesterday yielded 62 souls to the glory of God.
The participating teams for the event were the Pentecost Preparatory School, Sawla (PPS-Sawla), Nyange JHS, Kakease Junior High School (JHS) and The Church of Pentecost “All-Star” team.
The keenly-contested event drew many spectators, including Pastor David Amankwaa (Sawla Area Head), to the Nyange D/A Primary School Park where the competition was held.
The Nyange JHS team outclassed both opponents with commanding displays to emerge as the overall winners of the tournament. Special prizes were presented to the winning team as well as some individual players for their outstanding efforts.
Five of the new converts won at the event were baptised in water on the same day by Pastor Maxwell Nti (Area Secretary and Sawla District Minister), Pastor Isaac Acquah (Area Evangelism Leader and Nyange District Minister) and Overseer Ebenezer Yeboah (Sindaa District Minister).
The sports outreach is part of preliminary activities being organised by an Advance Team of the Evangelism Ministry to prepare the grounds for the upcoming mega crusade at Sawla, dubbed: “Sawla for Christ.”
The “Sawla for Christ” crusade, which is under the theme: “In the Name of Jesus” (Acts 3:6), is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, March 15 to Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Modern Ghana Park, Sawla.
