Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has urged ministers and wives of the Church to make a conscious effort to cultivate the presence of God daily for an effective ministry.

The General Secretary, speaking on the topic: “The Lost Glory – The Causes” on Day 5 of the Ministers and Wives Conference for the Eastern Region, emphasized that it is by “being with Jesus” that one can make a meaningful impact in life and ministry.

He explained that cultivating the presence of God comes through consistent study of the Word of God and a dedicated prayer life, where one spends quality time with God.

He illustrated this with a reference from Acts 4:13, which states, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

He explained that although the Pharisees were surprised by the boldness and deep insight of the apostles, they soon realized that the power behind their actions came from their time spent with Jesus.

“Likewise, if we want to see the glory of God, we must learn to be with Him, spend quality time with Him. This must come first before preaching and casting out demons,” he said.

The General Secretary further cautioned that while the lack of quality time with the Lord will not necessarily strip ministers of their titles, it will cause them to lose the Kabowd (glory) and result in becoming spiritually lightweight.

He warned that the glory of God can be lost when ministers and wives indulge in sin. He emphasized that “Evil hands cannot carry the Ark of God.”

Referencing the biblical account from 1 Samuel 4:10-11, he stated that Israel’s defeat in battle was due, in part, to the two wicked sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant. “So the Lord departed them and made the Ark an ordinary material,” he said, highlighting the devastating consequences of unholy lives in the ministry.

He, therefore, urged the ministers and wives to continue leading holy and righteous lives to make the necessary impact in ministry.
