The Hohoe Segbedenu District of The Church of Pentecost has reaffirmed its commitment to the “Possessing the Nations” agenda through a targeted educational support initiative aimed at improving learning outcomes in basic schools within the Santrokofi communities of the Guan District in the Oti Region and selected schools in the Hohoe Municipality.

The initiative, led by the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) Coordinator and District Minister, Pastor Felix Madugu, and his wife, Mrs. Rita Madugu, a teacher at Santrokofi Bume EP Basic School, was undertaken in collaboration with the Women’s Ministry, SOM, and the family of the late Deaconess Ernestina Adu (Retd).

Educational materials valued at GH¢2,803 were distributed, including 200 boxes of chalk, 40 boxes of whiteboard markers, as well as boxes of pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners, to support teaching and learning in the beneficiary schools.

According to the District, the intervention forms part of sustained efforts over the past three years to combine academic support with gospel outreach in the schools. The Santrokofi Bume EP Basic School, which has been a key beneficiary of these interventions, has recorded significant improvement in academic performance, including becoming one of the best-performing schools in the Guan District in last year’s BECE results.

The combined efforts of the SOM Coordinator and his wife have also included regular engagement with learners through gospel sharing, alongside periodic donations aimed at enhancing the school environment. These consistent interventions have contributed to visible improvements in discipline, academic focus, and overall performance.

Community stakeholders have acknowledged the impact of the Church’s involvement. The PTA Chairman, Mr. Kumi Benson, together with a representative of the Santrokofi Paramount Chief, Nana Letsabi II, expressed appreciation to The Church of Pentecost, describing the intervention as timely and transformational. They also commended the SOM Coordinator, his wife, and partnering families for their continued investment in education and community development.

The Hohoe Segbedenu District reiterated its commitment to sustaining such initiatives as part of its broader mandate to impact society through education, service, and the propagation of the Gospel.
