The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, has dedicated the state-of-the-art auditorium of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Trasacco, together with the mission house, which were donated to the church by Elder Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong (Group Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies) and his wife, Deaconess Dr Adelaide Siaw Agyepong.
Delivering an inspiring sermon at the dedication service, Apostle Dr Nyamekye anchored his message on 1 Chronicles 22:5, 19; 2 Chronicles 5:1–2, 13–14; and 2 Chronicles 6:18–21.
He indicated that as generations come and go, believers must pay careful attention to the truth that the Church is not a company or an organization, but a spiritual building. According to him, the power of the Holy Spirit is given to believers for the purpose of building the Church of God, not merely for personal benefit.
Chairman Nyamekye stressed that the gathering of people alone does not constitute a church; rather, it is the presence and glory of God that defines the true church. He reiterated that the Holy Spirit empowers believers to build God’s church, where His presence dwells.
He explained that the Old Testament temple was meant to house two important things. The first was the Ark of the Covenant, which represented the presence of God among His people and was central to worship in the Old Testament. He noted that the Church exists to serve God alone and not any individual.
The second was the sacred articles belonging to God, which were dedicated utensils used in the sanctuary. Drawing a parallel to the New Testament, he explained that there is nothing holy before God apart from the new creation in Christ. He added that the Ark of the Covenant and the sacred articles were to be placed together without conflict, signifying that the manifest presence of God among His people depends on a sanctified life.
Apostle Dr Nyamekye highlighted two key things King Solomon prayed for at the dedication of the temple: the glory of God and the presence of God to fill the house of the Lord. He explained that although King Solomon prayed for God’s eyes and ears to be attentive to the temple, God’s response was conditional. Citing 2 Chronicles 7:12–22 and verse 15, he said God promised to hear the prayers of His people if they would humble themselves, hear His word, and obey Him.
He noted that when the glory of God fills the church, the personalities of ministers become secondary. He warned that a church can have many members, but without the glory of God, it becomes mere entertainment.
He further stated that unholy living drives away God’s glory, stressing that the presence and glory of God in the temple depend on the spiritual condition of the people. Believers, he said, must carefully watch their lives if they desire God’s presence and glory to rest upon them.
Calling for a transformation in the way church is practiced, Apostle Dr Nyamekye said that when God is pleased to dwell in His temple, burdens are lifted. He added that God goes with His people and comes with them when they are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ.
He quoted theologian Jonathan Edwards, saying, “A true and faithful Christian does not make holy living an accidental thing. It is his great concern. As the business of the soldier is to fight, so the business of the Christian is to be like Christ.”
The dedication service marked a significant milestone for PIWC Trasacco, reaffirming the church’s commitment to holiness, obedience, and the pursuit of God’s manifest presence.
