The Bredi Assembly of the Okyerekrom District in the Abuakwa Area of The Church of Pentecost on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, had the foundation stone of its building laid after 20 years of existence.
The church building, which is almost complete, was largely funded through the Community Based Church Building (CBCB) grant of GH₵40,000 from the Church’s Headquarters and an amount of GH₵8,200 from the Local Assembly, totalling GH₵48,000.
Presenting the history of the building, the Presiding Elder, Bismark Mensah stated that, the Assembly was opened on February 15, 1998, after a three-day gospel rally led by the then Nyinahin District Minister, Overseer William Ohemeng Kwakye (now Pastor and Area Head of Sawla).
The assembly began with an adult membership of 29 but as at December 31, 2017, membership stood at 113 adults and 47 children. Prior to the construction of a permanent place of worship, the assembly used to hold church services under an old PBC cocoa shed; they later moved to the community market square and then to a temporary structure on the Church’s plot of land.
The Abuakwa Area Head, Apostle Emmanuel Osei Ofosu in his remarks, was full of praise to God and the Executive Council for the CBCB grant given to Bredi Assembly. He used the opportunity to educate members on tithing in The Church of Pentecost. He encouraged members to tithe faithfully for God’s blessing and for the advancement of the Kingdom business of Christ.
Early on, as part of the ceremony, the newly born daughter of the Okyerekorm District Minister, Overseer Nathaniel Asare and his wife, Mrs Eunice Asare, was dedicated to the Lord. The child was named after Pastor Isaac Kwame Annor, the Publication Manager of The Church of Pentecost Headquarters, who was present at the ceremony. The child was named Isabella Annorbea Asare.
Speaking at the event, Pastor Eric Ofori Frempong of Nyinahin District exhorted parents to be particular about the choice of name for their children, since the name given to a child could impact his or her life.
Some of the personalities present at the event were; Pastors Paul Quansah of Awoshie District (Odorkor Area) and Ernest Asamoah of Gwolu District (Wa Area), Ministers and Wives in the Abuakwa Area, members of Okyerekrom District, the Chiefs and Elders of Mantukwa and Bredi, the Kusaasi Chief and representative of Okyerekrom Chief.
